  1. hahaha! That's hilarious! Does Elbie drool a lot, or was he dreaming about T-Bone steak or something?
  2. Same here, kids are definitely not on the agenda (I like other people's kids ok, but have ZERO interest in having my own), but I love dogs. I want a dog because it's a dog! .
  3. Is it normal for off duty police officers in the US to carry their weapons?
  4. I have pretty extensive scarring and the Vitamin E capsules worked wonders for me! I squeeze a bit out of the capsule each night before I go to bed and apply it.
  5. Totally agree I love reading about Elbie, and looking at pics! Besides, if you don't keep putting pics up how will we know what his ears end up doing? lol, Elbie has pretty epic ears
  6. Don't worry, there will be lots of puppy pics lol The towel looks like a cape Super Pup!!
  7. So I finally got around to getting one of these on the weekend, and after just 5 mins per cat I got half a bag of fur! Amazing! My two cats don't shed much but the two I cat sit shed so much I get furballs lol! They aren't long haired but they are fluffy and the fur is very dense. I'm just starting off with short bursts so I don't overwhelm them but am looking foward to getting the rest of that fur out!
  8. Well, unfortunately because of one reason and another, the Bull Terrier was just not meant to be . So we went 'back to the drawing board' reassessed what we wanted/needed and we are now going to be bringing a Dobermann into our lives, hopefully! I've been talking to the breeder since early June and the time is going SO slowly lol. But that's ok, it's been a looong time since my last dog so plenty of time to prepare is good
  9. I'm waiting for my puppy to be conceived yet lol. This month sometime hopefully! Then more waiting!
  10. What a great idea! I never knew such a thing existed. I love the concept, that it's sort of like a 'Dude Ranch' for city dogs What a great outlet for all those herding urges. I agree, working dogs are fantastic to see. My ex Husband is from a farming background so I've seen quite a few sheep dogs (mainly kelpies) at work. I've also been lucky enough to know a police dog, and when I worked at the International Airport here in I used to watch the AQIS dogs during my lunch break (this was WELL before Sept 11 when security was far more lax than it is now lol). That Rottie poor thing!
  11. Great vids! Elbie looks like he's having a great time. Was this at the property of someone you know, or it is an organised lesson type thing?
  12. How do you cook it - on its own or in stews etc? You soak it for a while, usually 10 mins or so then rinse it and cook it like rice. Or you can pop it in soup or stew like barley and if you get the temperature right you can pop it in a pan a bit like popcorn, only smaller. You can also buy it in puffed form as a breakfast cereal.
  13. I've never fed it to a dog, but I eat it and it's yummy
  14. FranCQ, there's bits and pieces of it around on youtube if you hunt for it. (the above is the part with the guy kicking the dog in the lift, it's pretty horrible) This is a really touching anti-dogfighting ad.
  15. I LOVE Rescue Ink. I've seen this ep of Dr Phil (even though it's not on tv here in WA yet) because I am a Rescue Ink fan. Their show is great if anyone gets a chance to check it out.
  16. If it were raised ethically, and killed humanely, I have no problem with it. Just as I have no problem with cows, sheep, chickens, deer, pigs etc in the same circumstance. They are all lovely animals. ETA: I wouldn't feed it to my dog unless it was human grade though.
  17. Hi everyone I've had a quick read through this thread (and elsewhere on the net) and I have a couple of questions if someone wouldn't mind answering. Sorry if they've been answered somewhere and I missed it. Firstly, chicken frames. I've been unable to source free range chicken frames anywhere in WA. Is it necessary to feed these or can I substitute something else to fit the nutritional requirement these fill. Also I am a bit confused about the amount to feed. I've read that it should be approx 2-3% of the dog's weight. But then I read that a puppy should be fed 2-3% of the expected adult weight. So a full grown dog and a puppy should be fed the same amount? Thanks
  18. I would LOVE to go camping, unfortunately my Husband won't go. I've tried to talk him into it but no go! I will keep trying lol.
  19. We went away in June, and we had Dea from Four Little Paws come and take care of our fish. She is really lovely and I wouldn't hesitate to use her again. We made the choice to put the cats in a boarding place rather than leave them home as we were also cat-sitting my parents cats and they need more supervision all together, but when we go away again next year if we just have our cats I will get her to come feed/play with them. She also offers a service where she will stay in your home. http://www.fourlittlepaws.com.au/
  20. I just had a look at the website, it starts at 9am? What is a split show? I am such a newbie lol. It does seem like a lot of fun! So trialing is competing?
  21. Hmmm... I have a huge fur problem for approx 6 months a year when I cat-sit my parent's two part chinchilla fluffy cats. I brush them with a regular brush most every day but still feel like we live in a snowfall of fur. Sometimes when one of them walks through the sunlight, I can actually see a trail of fluff floating in the air behind them. I wonder if one of these brushes would be suitable for them? They aren't particularly long haired, just fluffy but with really dense fur.
