Thank you becks thats exactly what i'm going to do, i'll book him in for tomorrow

Sorry guys just been doing some reading, didn't know the double coat helps keep him cool as well as warm, think i'll just take him in for a tidy up and continue with the brushing to get rid of the dead hair. My main reason for wanting to do this was to keep him cool but if it isn't going to help then i'm not going to do it. Thanks for the help.

Well thats the thing i'm not 100% sure and i have been told if it's clipped it may not grow back the same. For comparison here is a picture of what he currently looks like. His name is Koda by the way.

Hi guys i posted this in the Tibetan spaniel forum but figured it would probably be more appropriate here, My tibetan spaniel is about 10 months old and i was also considering taking him to be clipped as he has been shedding like crazy since the beginning of summer even with regular brushing (biggest furballs i've ever seen haha) We have had a few days now around the high 30's low 40's and i'm a bit concerned for him being too hot. Also he loves swimming at the beach and i figured it would be easier to keep him clean and dry if he is clipped. I'm not talking about a full on buzz cut i still want to keep his fluffy tail and his little "shorts" at the back haha, just a little trim up. So if anyone could give me advice on past experience i would be very grateful. My main concern is to help keep his back end tidy and also make it easier to see if he has anything unusual going on with his skin I've attached a pic of something along the lines of what i was thinking. If i don't get him clipped how would i go about at least giving him a trim up, So far I've just been doing regular brushing as far as his fur goes and a wash when he gets dirty. Thanks for any advice you guys can offer me. Cheers

haha ok i was doin the plastic bag thing then i was like well the toilet is designed for it so thought i was helping the environment by saving plastic bags lol. You can t win. I was just trying to find if anyone was in a similar situation that might have a solution that has worked for them, lots of good ideas though.
-
yeh i was reading about them you have to dig a big whole or something dont you? If you do it not really practical for my use. Looks like a good idea though

I had him on a doggy loo but was sick of replacing the fake turf and it became quite messy and smelly (especially after rain lol. Saw dust sounds good cos i can just scoop it out and throw it in the bin and top it up when i have to. The entire courtyard is paved except for the small part were he goes.

So sawdust will help to eliminate the odour? Has anyone tried this? I guess it has to be better than pebbles haha

My tibetan spaniel is now 6 months old. I live in a townhouse with a courtyard and he poops in a little garden patch i dont use which is good. I then scoop it out every day or two and flush down the toilet. I was wondering if there was anything i could add to the garden to possibly help the poop decompose or atleast to neutralize the smell a little? It is currently a pebble garden but was going to replace with soil to make it easier to scoop out.

Had the same thing with koda he is 4 months now he could go up stairs about 4 weeks before he learned to come down. I just put him on the steps like 3 steps up or so and put a treat at the bottom and gradually increased the amount of steps.

being a tibbie he is really stubborn and really hard to teach he always thinks he knows better we taught him to use the wee matt just fine so i'll take hem away and use he lead and try and re train him i guess. How can i teach him to toilet on command?

My 16 week old tibetan spaniel is doing really well, he always poops outside but he wees inside on his wee pads. The only time he has an accident is if we come home and he gets a little too excited :p If i take the wee pads away he tends to use the matt at the bottom of the stairs. and if i put the wee pads outside they get blown around they become his chew toys. How can i get him to wee outside? in the same place he poops?

just cracket a capsule over his food and he loved it

I heard from a friend that it is good to feed your puppy fish oil tablets (good for their coat) is this true? and do i just give him regular human ones? Don't really want to be feeding him something i shouldn't be
