We will be providing food and refreshments so just bring yourself and your dog. The trials are set up to give people a guide at what standard they are as a dog handler, and also to see how their dog performs. As we are trying to recreate a typical work environment both handler and their companion contribute to the overall score. We will run this trial every six to twelve months and we have already secured some international judges for the future, where we will also offer seminars. Looking forward to meeting you and a great weekend. Good luck to all competitors. Artur

It makes me Lough a little to see how people justify their behaviour, my comment was made because not to many of you answered the question, you rather criticised the guy. (right or wrong) There are many vets out there that would not know the first thing about behaviour and using drugs to calm dogs down etc which is not always the right option but maybe and easy option. Also I don't know this guy but like before I find it funny how many people are so critical and bitchy. This are only my thought and also I am all good for useful advice. Maybe we should change the question and say "can you look at this website and criticise" The guy has created this website as his professional calling card to the world. The whole point of its existence is for people to judge his services by it. I just stated that based on the information provided, I wouldn't call. This is spot-on I think - I wouldn't call a trainer who doesn't provide information about their methods unless I had already found out from a referral by someone I trust. So like I said the question was wrong. They wanted us to analyse the website??

I dot know this person from a bar of soap- which is probably the first warning signal to me. the second is that no one else has used him or knows someone that has... the dog world is tiny so good behaviourist generally get a name for themselves pretty quickly IMO. Pretty quickly, especially here. IMO. Or by the way, back to the question. Has anyone heard of this guy? We covered his website, covered the Vets and critical opinions but seriously has anyone heard of this guy? We are just so quick to criticise.

Ouch Qualifications Hmm?? I thought that vets etc treat health issues, but I could be wrong. My advice is to see some dogs that they have trained and if you see something that you like it might work for you? No different then people posting their opinions on this forum full of good advice ? what qualifications do they have? Just a thought.

Hi first I do not want to offend anyone but KNPV is a type of dog sport (like Schutzhund which people here are more familiar with) and not a breed of dog while FCI is the international organisation that overlooks the dogs pedigree, judging, results etc similar to ANKC. FCI Dutch Shepherds are describing dogs that are registered pure breed dogs with an international organisation, most dogs that people refer to as KNPV could be cross breeds that look like either a Dutch Shepherd or a Mal. If you google them it might explain it a bit better. Dutch Shepherds are utility dogs, suitable for many situations such as a family pet, sport or security. I believe and have seen that they show a natural ability to herd. For me the best way to describe a Dutch Shepherd is that they are somewhere in between a Mal and a German Shepherd in their drives. But I would also like to mention that it depends on how people bring their dogs up from a pup. I hope this answers some of your questions. Thanks
-
Like I said before, in my opinion, Dutch Shepherds are very loyal, handler orientated dogs. They are normal dogs so there is no reason why a first time dog owner could not have a Dutch Shepherd, just like a German Shepherd or a Rotti, it is purely based on personal preferences and the breed that they are interested in. Obviously puppy selection is required for the right person or job. And it should be noted that the people I mentioned before, they don't all associate with me on a regular basis but I do keep in touch.
-
Well my in laws and other first time owners that I am associated with have no issues and the owners that have a full time job probably spend on occasions less then 1/2 hour a day with their Dutchies it works well for them so I don't see why it could not work for others. However this is not written in stone it is just my opinion.
