My black pug is a purebred. Yes they do 'come in black'. No she's not a frenchie, and yes she's fit, not fat, and no not all pugs are fat. And pugs aren't terriors: they're just bred for companionship. Plain and simple: they don't really know what a 'prey' drive is. (anything you eat is 'prey'). AND they're not stupid. They are easily trainable.

I have pugs....and I'm in Perth so it is 39 here today. Today and yesterday they have been inside with the aircon on. I had the cleaner come today (they are outside when the cleaner comes) and there was a baby crow outside that has apparently jumped out of it's nest without it's flight feathers! After several phone calls I have established that this is apparently completely normal behaviour and it will get it's flight feathers in a few days time - lucky my dogs weren't interested in it in the backyard - the poor mum and dad crows were having a ripe fit!

NO NO NO!!! They have a huge amount of bacteria that can cause infection. I had a lady at work who let her dogs lick her wound from her total knee replacement: It was so bad they had to take the prosthesis out, put antibiotics in for a few weeks (while technically she didn't have a knee) and then re-do the whole thing again. NOT a good idea!

My housemate's lab did this once. She was fine (and ate about 10?), so try not to stress too much. Perhaps make sure that YOU don't miss any though otherwise you could have more than fur babies!!

If you were thinking about bulking out his food......One thing I learnt recently from the dietician at work is that butternut pumpkin is not the same biochemically as regular pumpkin. It has calories that count!!! I think that it would be really hard for me to feed this little guy what he was 'used' to.....I think I would give a normal meal for his ideal weight. Poor little guy. He's one lucky little chunky monkey!

Thanks Wizzle and Rommi N Lewis: certainly one way to feel very silly in deed with this! It was right in her top lip under her nose, and being a pug I was worried about swelling in that area! I couldn't believe she was fine once the sting was removed - she's currently trying to barge the lap top off my lap and replace it with herself of course

Thanks yes I did find a recipe....for it. Also finally got in contact with our vet who gave us the dosage for antihistamine. She is fine though......as soon as the sting was out she was absolutely fine. Little Terror.

My Pug has just attempted eating a bee! I have removed the stinger from the fulcrum of her top lip and hse appears absolutely fine now (approx. 5 mins) I have been trying to call all the local vets in the area to find out if we should do anything else? I am concerned re: swelling obviously as she is a pug and has probably been stung on her muzzle? Does anyone know the dosage of antihistamine that I can give her? I have 25mg here at home.

I have also been caught letting my temper get a bit out of control with my parents god/dog. He is not trained AT ALL and after pulling for about 45 mins I sort of said/yelled gruffly: "MAX, walk like a HUMAN!!!!" to which some elderly people got a good laugh! I realise that would've done absolutely nothing to change Max's behaviour.........and the lack of training still gets to me every time I visit my parents. Very embarrassing though!

I put too much human emotion into ours as well. Unfortunately one of ours is so bossy towards the other one that she even herds her (usually away from us....), so the poor little bugger can't even walk anywhere in our house some days without being bullied by the older one. On these days it is very hard for me.......I find it extremely difficult to watch so I usually end up separating them and one gets time with my husband, and the other with me.....or I take them for separate walks. It REALLY pushes my buttons though!

:D Apologies: I don't have anything solid to add. Surely if you let them keep going one would have enough and get the message across to the other one?

Luckily mine hate the rain. What do they do on rainy days? Stay inside with the heater on....... I have trouble convincing them to even leave their bed. They are happy to do this.......needless guess the breed?? pugs!

I think all animals do it - it's a reflex.......humans do it too until they're about 5 months old!

and at least you know about it early in his life so you can hopefully prevent problems down the track!

Don't talk ill of physio......they creep up in the most unlikely places AND most dogs that I see following their owners hip/knee replacements are amazing - so much so that it's 'normal' to me that dogs are like this!
