It may sound like I'm giving this puppy an awful lot of supplements, Sorry I have no idea where u got that from, as I have not stated what I'm giving him! But FYI- He is on a raw diet Roo/Beef meat, specific selection of verges, and a professional supplement with every essential vit, min, amino, etc required, which is administered at the correct dose for a puppy, and I have just recently introduced these capsules to increase his stomach flora. P.s USA vets tend to be moving toward reducing unnessecary yearly vaccinations and increasing natural preventative methods such as the use of probiotics. Probiotic is not going to prevent parvo

So glad he's feeling better! Good nutrition is important for healing! What type was his tumour? My dog had a hemangiosarcoma rupture and emergency surgery to remove it last July! Suspected lifespan (despite best treatment) 4-6 months... BUT 8+ months later she is absolutely amazing, literally better than she's been in years!
-
Great news!
-
Let us know how he goes. Good luck!
-
If he's just not eating you may opt to wait, but if he continues to vomit and looks miserable it might be best to get along sooner. What type was the tumour?
-
Poor boy.. Is he still on any meds? A checkup at the vet I suggest.

Could you try putting the tube in the fridge for 10 mins before applying, might thicken it up a bit without irritating the eye?!

Please, please, please leave them with Mum until they're 8 weeks old!!! OMG I can't believe you're even considering removing them from their mum that early. There is a very, very good reason why reputable breeders aren't allowed to rehome pups until they're 8 weeks old and a lot of it has to do with them being with their mum for as long as possible. Its not got anything to do with feeding etc and everything to do with socialisation. Whilst I agree that she should have been desexed a LONG time ago she wasn't but for Christ's sake please give these babies the best chance possible by leaving them with their mum until the are at least 7 weeks old. I can't believe that, when they can stay with their mum until they're 8 weeks old, you would even consider moving them. +1, +1, +1 -
Ummm, not when the case could be bought before RSPCA/awl... Believe it or not some vets have the animals best interests at heart- who'd have thought...

Just asked if you had tried to find the owners as I have 2 friends that both have 30+ yo horses, extremely well looked after, fed suitable quantities of appropriate food (usually gumnuts), regularly drenched, hoof trimmed and vet checked, but both look like walking coat hangers... Their vets (in 2 seperate states) are happy with their conditions, and in one case has written a letter for the owner to show anyone who enquires. She doesn't mind when people approach her, as it does show they care. The other keeps a rug on as she got sick of explaining to ppl!! Efs

Mine get them every day! I have several, and each weekend I soak up a couple of cups of their ordinary dry food (just cover with hot water and wait till it goes soggy), shove it in hard with a spoon and freeze! Pull one out for each dog for their brekky as I leave! Takes them a while to get used to using them, start with the food really loose, so it comes out just by the pup moving the kong, then gradually make it more difficult until she learns to really work at it (or starve!!!!)!

Why would someone looking for a puppy speak to a veterinarian first? It's up to the buyer to research and ask the breeder or breed club questions. Anyone can spend 30min on google and find out what testing should be done for what breed and what problems occur in the breed they are interested in. I often think this would be helpful. Not necessarily a vet, but somebody with knowledge and an interest. In my puppy preschools I very often have people bringing in their totally unsuitable new puppy (everything from the "groodle"- coz it's hypoallergenic..., to the byb bc to live in a suburban backyard with little stimulus..., to the choc lab or blue staffy bought for colour. even the pet shop puppy they 'saved'...) These new owners are not stupid, just misinformed... IF they could have got the correct information BEFORE choosing their puppy we could start to weed out some of the issues we are seeing. Don't know how it could be done, but it is something myself and my vets have discussed... That's called a "responsible breeder". No one knows a breed better or the home it would be bets suited to and ensures that's where pups are placed, than a responsible breeder. To be honest, most vets struggle to name and recognise every breed, let alone be familiar with the breed traits and diseases associated with. My vet refers people seeking puppies or older dogs to registered breeders, I get a call a month or more, from people saying that the vet has gievn me your contact details and can you help me with ? As I said I'm thinking about the people NOT already going to a registered responsible breeder... I'm well aware what the ideal is..

Slightly OTT, but My 11 year old Is currently undergoing chemo for hemangiosarcoma.. (touch wood so far going well, expected lifespan 4-6 months, now 8 months since having her ruptured spleen removed...!) She was only recently desexed before diagnoses (so no signs of problems then!). As she has had a couple of litters I was of course concerned about the hereditary concerns, but her oncologists tell me there is no conclusive data, so I can breath easy. However I have a couple of her offspring, and am in contact with most of the others so time will tell. They also advised none of the data about early desexing was conclusive as yet...

ditto. Exactly Agree also, but now they have arrived would they not be better to be kept together with mum to learn important puppy lessons?? (I am not into forced early weaning, unless for health reasons...) -
Did you try to contact the owners of the horses before calling the RSPCA? They could be just older, and in fact well cared for..

And WHERE do we find you set up??!!!!!!! Yummmmmm

10 Month Old Gsd With Severe Hip Dysplasia

Great news for her!! Good luck for a speedy recovery! -
My 10 year old had a heamangiosarcoma (nasty splenic tumour) removed, it had ruptured so it was surgery or euthanasia... Successful surgery, then ultrasound of abdomen and chest, and chest X-rays all clear we started chemo - palliative only as expected life span 4-6 months regardless of treatment. Just finished chemo, 7.5 months on and have a 10 year old that acts like a 2 yo!!! She only had a few 'sick' days on chemo, couple of vomits and few days off food. Now awaiting plan from oncologist as to what to do from here! Expensive exercise but worth every cent to keep her as happy and healthy till the end.
