As another GP and being familiar with several more of the soecies, I believe we are responsible enough to ensure our dogs don't breed willy nilly. I voted no.

You could have said no at the get go and given a simple explanation if you wanted.

Thankyou for all your replies. I am going to look for the DVDs tomorrow and also an external hardrive. I would like to be able to give DVDs to my children with recent pics that have been taken. Possum Corner, you raise some very thought provoking ideas there.

Head over to the rescue section and have a look at what types of dogs need homes. They are not all working dogs, in fact I live rural and our pound is generally JRTs and other small dogs. You will be able to find links to rescue groups, just look in people's signatures. Do you have a preference for a breed?

It's not about playing styles, it's about ill mannered dogs rushing unknown dogs in 'greeting'. I work hard to ensure my little dog is social and not a snappy, yappy little dog.

We have one dog park. There are other parks we can walk in but not do off lead training. It would be nice to have a choice.

You might think it's OK but I'm assuming you have a big dog? My Mini Foxie is not a woosy, precious little bit, but she is little. I don't want over boisterous larger dogs, of any breed, bowling up to her. If my dog is under effective control why can I not expect other dogs to be? Yes, I know, it's not a perfect world.

Why mention a breed if it went to the paper? As the OP stated

You're doing it again I genuinely and stupidly thought that BSL was only a law which worked towards eradication of certain breeds of dogs hence why I was adamant that I was not advocating BSL. Somewhere in the middle of the night, my mind went back to this little gem.
