Correct! :D

You added the GSD! :D

I've purchased before from them and they recently came on to support our Charity. They've always been really quick and their prices are competitive. My delivery of Black Hawk was overnight. [if you're a first time buyer and the order is over $50, you can use the code PPAFD1. You'll get free shipping, and Fetching Dogs gets $20.]

It's not. The actual size shows the very big shading difference but this size kinda makes them blur together into one... dong.

AmStaff. :D I've put the answers in a spoiler tag on the first post for those who might be throwing things at the computer.

How Much Is Fair To Board A Pup For 2 Weeks
Plan B replied to mini girl's topic in General Dog Discussion
Very reasonable. We pay $12 to board our dogs for quarantine so, the fact those pups will be in a home environment with all those added bonuses, $12 is very cheap. -
Good guesses!

Hope this is okay to post. The idea with this poster was make it a minimal take on dog breeds... they all originally had ears, which made them easier to identify, but that wasn't exactly very minimal so I took them off, and then realised it might be tricker to identify the breeds. Would love to see the guesses! Some are definitely easier than others and, without the ears, some breeds can look similar. :) Answers listed in the spoiler:

Take the positives from this thread and discard all else. (Though, I think even some harsh criticisms have some good advice in there somewhere). Never worry about stepping on toes in Rescue. Anyone who gets offended by another Rescue Group actually rescuing responsibly probably shouldn't be in rescue to begin with. Whether someone fosters for you or another group, there's still someone fostering.
-
Famous last words. Good luck with your rescue endeavour. I started my rescue with absolutely no qualifications, only years of experience, and we've done pretty darn well. I'm glad I didn't put up a thread about it here. Though, just a tip. If you plan on utilising foster carers, it really is about selling the idea of fostering. You're not forcing people to foster who usually wouldn't, you're informing them about something they may not have known existed (there are many out there who have no idea about fostering). Rescue, like business, needs some good marketing and some thinking outside the box in order to attract potential foster carers. :)

I don't think it ever will - and I don't think that's a bad thing.

That's a bit at odds with your previous recommendation of, and I quote, "just knuckle down, get on with it & then kick back, relax, play with a puppy once the doings have been done." You were completely dismissive of these "Eggheads" being stressed, as if it was an inconceivable notion. I don't think it is a solution or being offered as one. I think it's being put in place to help. And I don't see what's so ridiculous with that, if it works. Way to take everything out of context. Read back. Everyone's in support of a measure that is being taken that can help people. Nobody is saying it's a cure. Why someone would be so against something that has been proven to help is beyond me.
-
Absolutely. But like I said, different environments factor into it too, even with thorough testing and assessments. It is important to make sure mistakes are identified and not repeated but it's also important to note that, regardless of how much we do, there are some things we can't know/observe.

I would go for Homes For Hounds, with "On The Right Track" as your slogan. :) EDIT: "Second Sight" is catchy. With "Second" referring to the second chance and "Sight" being Sighthound. Though it may be too obscure unless you know what it is!
-
Not necessarily, HA. Dogs display different behaviours in different environments (and it doesn't have to be a bad environment, just a different one). It's not always something we can see or predict until it presents.

So, I don't get it. You're berating people who get stressed and then telling them they should just go home if they're overwhelmed. Basically telling people to give up without trying, even when the odds aren't in their favor. Surely that's the ridiculous part here? And not, in fact, the measures some take to lower stress levels? I'd hate to think how you treat people with clinical depression. What a strange little vendetta you have against people receiving any kind of help.

I don't know where it said the University thought this was a necessity? Rather a "let's give this a go if it might help some students." Why is University not counted as the real world? You do realise those are human beings, yes? With actual emotions and all the problems that go along with them? Just because someone is young, it doesn't mean they have it easy. And likewise, just because someone is old, it doesn't mean they're more hard done by. Again, I saw this as the University adding something beneficial - not the students stamping their feet, demanding puppies, or else they'd fail. Just because it's quoted, doesn't mean it makes any sense. Who the hell said life isn't meant to be easy? If you think that, maybe you should just give away your worldly possessions and go live out in the sticks? I'll wait for the "Puppy Adorably Mauls Student" headline.

I've always experienced it differently. The past few years, Christmas has always been a huge rush for us - for dogs of all ages. This year, hardly anything. I've been putting it down to PetRescue's failure to launch.

Pet Dogs More Friendly Than Frightening When Put To The Test
Plan B replied to Leema's topic in General Dog Discussion
You'd think with the difficulty he had pronouncing that, they'd realise it was wrong... -
Bloody scary but what a great dog.
