  1. Just going off the "3R Animal Rescue Inc." name.
  2. I can't seem to find an ABN or anything, but they say they're incorporated. Also found a very similar group here, with their FB page directing here [American]. EDIT: They show up as incorporated on the Fair Trading website but do not hold a fundraising license:
  3. It does make Qantas look incredibly incompetent when other airlines here and across the world can safely transport AmStaffs (some transport the dogs on our actual banned list too) without incident. Maybe Qantas needs to hire a better risk assessor? Especially if that person is the one who told them AmStaffs are 'historically aggressive.'
  4. I just did a search and they are registered to fundraise: So at least they are accountable. It doesn't seem like they actually follow up the applications to make sure every member is doing as they say they're doing so I'm not sure I understand their system at all. I think something like this could be a great idea but with better and more extensive planning, researching, and consulting with existing groups across the country. They are, after all, going to be funding them.
  5. They do have pets randomly appearing on the front page. I'm not sure how often this is changed and how many are in the 'pool' to be rotated but when the new site first went live, one of our dogs kept popping up every three or four times I'd refresh.
  6. I think people are more about the principle of it. Especially when a Qantas representative makes this remark: A dangerous and reckless comment on an official page that reaches almost 300,000 people.
  7. The only information available is the current owner's details. There's no way to trace back.
  8. Oh, right. We've also taken on dogs from other Rescues when they've felt they weren't properly equipped so I don't see a huge issue with that either. Whatever's best for the dog.
  9. Sounded clear to me? I took that as looking for a foster carer or forever home...
  10. It's not unusual for a home to not be compatible with dogs after they have arrived. They're still safe with the Rescue so I don't see the drama?
  11. Great idea, Aphra. Fetching Dogs Inc. We're a small group, officially founded late 2011. We started off with just one active carer until about December last year and now have a network of about 25 foster carers but not all are active at the same time, so we usually have about 15-20 dogs in care at any one time. We rescue all breeds, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes but with a big emphasis on Bull Breeds - not just because they are so over-represented in the pounds but because we (me in particular, I guess) have a passion for the breeds, as well as a lot of experience. We have some great relationships with other Rescues - not just in NSW - and we're lucky enough to be supported by some great businesses/companies. Just lately we have had a great trainer run a Workshop with the focus on Bull Breeds and their owners, with all proceeds going to Fetching Dogs, and we were really honoured to be chosen for that. Our full "about" is here. Below is one of our foster carer posters - we really try to come up with a new poster every other week to grab some attention, get the word out, etc - and some of our current/recent dogs. For us, Fetching Dogs is all about the individual dog, regardless of breed, age, size, colour - it's all about whether we can responsible rescue, care for, and rehome. And if we can, we will try our hardest. Website | Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr
  12. Seconded. Strong and better quality than cheaper alternatives. You pay more for a collar that will last at least ten years, rather than buying heaps of collars over that period of time.
  13. Not all vets give out those info sheets to Rescues, as it saves them time, and it's assumed the Rescue knows the drill and will pass that info on to the carer. So I'd definitely ask your co-ordinator, Alfie, or the vet if possible.
  14. I know what you're getting at but is it not okay for someone to share their appreciation for a dog, regardless of how long it has left to live?
  15. I actually just shared him on my FB timeline earlier today. I would be very surprised if his family isn't looking for him.
  16. I know. What I was saying is, a lot of people can't actually provide factual evidence. All they can do is share their experiences and that's why it can come across as hearsay to a total outsider (even though we all know it's not).
  17. I think, when you're selling pups 11 months out of the year, it's not so much a "start" as it is a "gimmick to entice more customers." If this fails, we'll more than likely be seeing a "2 for 1 Special" next Christmas. Because this isn't about animal welfare - it's about maximising profits. In this case, jumping on a bandwagon and generating publicity.
  18. The rescue world is like a battlefield sometimes. Sad but true. I don't think you should be judged on taking a PR dog - I think that can happen to most people with good intentions. And even most of the negative things people will say about PR can't actually be backed up with proof, so it comes across as hearsay. But I think you're definitely armed with a lot of information about them now to make a judgment call and there are a lot of people you can talk to about them who are willing to share their experiences. People tend to forget that mistakes happen, regardless of how much you try to avoid them. It's how we learn from those mistakes that define us - whether personally or as a group.
  19. People in rescue rarely agree on much but you know you have to pay attention when they're all agreeing and saying the same thing. Greylvr, I haven't made any snide comments to you and have been nothing but supportive. But I have to tell you to watch your back with Pound Rounds, regardless of how involved you think you are. Even by taking one dog off their hands, you are enabling them, and once you learn more and more about PR, you'll realise it's not a group you want to be associated with in any way, shape, or form. Everyone can appreciate this is about the individual dog. But there comes a time when you have to evaluate what is best for animal welfare - this single dog or dogs as a whole. And if it's the latter, you'll want to cut ties with PR immediately. That group will be your downfall.
  20. Were you knocked back because you work full time or were you knocked back because there were equally brilliant family applying that didn't work full time?
  21. It's the most distinct markings regarding the breed if you Google and look at a Dobe face-on. I'm not sure how it looks angry. And all colours were taken from actual photos with the eyedropper tool.
  22. I'd love to see where those 'nasty comments' are. This thread reads like a public mauling. Whether that was the intent or not, it's how it reads. It's uncalled for. I've shown support for Greylvr and offered advice - in a way that doesn't drag her over hot coals. It's not my fault you don't see that as relevant, I just don't see the need to go over things that have been covered here. Over, and over, and over again. And I think it'd be nice if at least a few people on DOL were welcoming and supporting of newcomers, just to show that there is a place for them here.
  23. No need to victimise yourself. Also no need to compare somebody who hasn't even gotten a rescue up and running yet to a group who has continuously hurt a lot of people and dogs. Straws. You're grasping. Just let it go already.
  24. Oh, come off it. Greylvr has actually shown a lot of restraint in this thread. There are a lot of people who would not have bitten their tongue so much and that doesn't mean those people aren't fit to run a rescue. Greylvr has said she doesn't want to continue. You don't have to like it but the constant baiting is just ridiculous.
