  1. The breed does require a scissor bite, when we were looking at pups our first choice of breeder was not planning a litter for 12 months and could not offer us anything until the litter was 5 - 6 months due to "moving mouths" in her lines, and obviously it is in our dogs lines too which is unrelated to the first breeder we contacted.
  2. Thank you again everyone for all your comments and recommendations. There will be 2 bitchs and two dogs from our breed at the show, it's the same people every year (show usually has about 350 -400 entries), l was advised if l put her in her age group she would be the only one in that class and would get a run around the ring but come time for a challange l should scratch her. My daughter is happy with this she just wants to join in, she is not expecting a ribbon or to be awarded. l know l can count on the dog to take care of her she will be fine stacking and doing out and back or what ever it is called, before we even considered taking her to the show she was out the back practicing, maybe dog shows should have a fun ring for people starting out and just wanting to give it a go even if their dog does not make the grade like they do at horse shows.
  3. Fifi, thanks for your reply and explanation. Your approach makes alot of sense and would be the right way to go about it.
  4. l have asked a few people but l would hate for someone to say "oh my dog should have won that she (handler) didn't know what she was doing.
  5. No need to be so rude, l am not a show person, l don't take anything in the ring. A local lady who has the same breed as us and helps me groom said to take her and let her have a bit of fun but if there is another dog entered in the class the right thing to do would be to scratch her. There is no Junior handlers at the show. So much for encouragement.
  6. l really dont think the breeder would mind , she asked a few month ago if we she had been desexed as she would like to use her at stud but we had since found out she also breeds x breeds as well as her registered dogs. Should note her mouth is not bad the bottom teeth just slide infront of the top instead of the other way around, you cant notice it untill you open her mouth.
  7. Our local country Agi show is coming up and my 12 year old daughter is dying to join in, she has been helping a friend with her dogs at shows but she has nothing for her to show, we do have a dog who was bought to show but at 6 months she developed a bad mouth (Lower jaw longer that the top), the breeder offered to take her back and swap for another puppy but we were hooked so she stayed. Anyhow..... she is dying to show in this one show and l am after peoples opinions if it would be acceptable for her to take the dog, l would hate for the judge to ask her to leave the ring etc. Our breed has few number at this show every year so l could pretty much guarantee she would be the only one in the class and l would not have her go in for challange she just wants to be part of it all. What do you think ? Feel free to PM if you don't want to post. Ta
