Remember My Dog Who Is Keen On The Cats?
Hello Gorgeous replied to Kirty's topic in General Dog Discussion
The look on Phoebe's face is priceless! What a cute little kitty too! My parents have a grouchy old alpha male cat who was born at home after we had our dog (who has since passed ) for many years, and watching them together was hilarious. We never would've figured this grouchy boy would even consider playing with a dog, but he was quite lost when she passed on about 2-3 years ago now. He used to let her groom him, play around, etc. and when she was locked outdoors, he would stand at the grill gate separating them, sticking his paw out for her to lick, and then sleep at the grill keeping her company -
I love the poodle's reaction! :D

It's Cold! Coats When Home Alone?
Hello Gorgeous replied to natamalie's topic in General Dog Discussion
It's been absolutely freezing in Melbourne lately so I understand your concern! I think it's a good idea to just try having one on him while he's outside (maybe when someone is home to supervise) and see how that goes, but it should go fine -
Yes, in the dog world there is nothing nicer than a beautifully bred puppy who's breeder has put thought and effort into producing well conformed babies who look like they are supposed to look. It's the difference between a cartoon drawing and a masterpiece. And that is one masterpiece! He's beautiful!

I don't know if it's illegal or not here (but I read somewhere it was effective this year? Not sure) but it's still legal in other countries, maybe they had him/her imported or something. Seems like a long-shot, I know!

Oh she's absolutely gorgeous! I love her coat - it looks really healthy and silky.

I'm no help at all but I have to say that is one gorgeous puppy!

Sometimes Luuka Really Surprises Me
Hello Gorgeous replied to FranVT's topic in General Dog Discussion
How precious! -
Please don't tell me that's actually what it's called! I went to an office to pick up a few cheques the other time and they had the most adorable French Bulldog running around (actually no, more like sleeping in a corner).

Worst Excuses For Re-homing Or Surrendering A Pet
Hello Gorgeous replied to PeiPei's topic in General Dog Discussion
You don't have to move overseas to get a job. We have jobs here in Australia. The responsible thing is to decide before you get a pet whether the pet is going to be compatible with your chosen career and lifestyle for the next fifteen or so years. I think depending on the temperament of the dog/cat, it's actually pretty straight forward to take your animal overseas out from Australia as many countries don't require you to quarantine your animals if it's coming from Australia thanks to strict health laws. I've had a bunch of friends who all moved overseas and took their dogs with them with no problems at all too It's just rather expensive as it can cost almost more than a thousand dollars depending on where you're going. -
These are more pricey, but kinda cute as well! http://www.trixieandpeanut.com/category-38...harms-+-ID-Tags

What in the world is a Miks?! And $980 is crazy!
-
It really depends on your dog - I've had a puppy which had absolutely no interest in kongs or any toys at all. In fact her favourite toy was an old tennis ball, NOTHING ELSE - it was the only thing she touched! Then again, we were home all the time so I guess she preferred us to her toys.

That one takes the cake!

I feel so sorry for the poor man and his dog. We don't know the full story here, but it can be extremely taxing, heartbreaking and expensive. OP, did you ever find out what happened to the dog eventually? Reading all these storm-phobic dog stories makes me wonder about my old dog who used to love storms and would go outside and sit in the middle of one if we let him Dogs really are nutters aren't they?

I met a woman in the park while walking with a mate and her purebred pug today. She had a pug x chihuahua mix, and she went "so what cross is he?" like as if she didn't expect him to be purebred. She said "oh no, he's a purebred" and she went "yeah, but what mix?" I honestly didn't know what to say anymore to that so we quickly scurried away!

Yup they do - http://www.naturesgift.com.au/Puppies.html

Very little if none. Australia prides itself on being "rabies-free" so any country where there is a chance of rabies is definitely out, you will need to quarantine. Exporting is much easier as you can export to almost anywhere with no quarantine

We've previously brought home two kittens at once, but that's a different scenario because they weren't as destructive as puppies can be, but they did bond more with each other initially which was great as they kept each other company and didn't cry at night or when they were alone. As they grew up, they bonded more with individual humans but it's really sweet to see how they have a natural bond (they're sisters as well) and tend to stick close to each other. I wouldn't do it with puppies because it would mean twice the headache! Although they may keep each other company and so on, it's a small reward for the 'double trouble' they could cause I'd prefer bringing in a puppy to a home where there's already a mature dog.

I have to admit that years ago, I fed my dog tinned food only (well with those puppy rolls too) and she was perfectly fine, but it gets costly! She absolutely hated Nature's Gift though which was weird because it looked and smelled exactly like people food. I wouldn't feed a dog strictly tin anymore. Mix it up a little with bones and raw, maybe once in awhile for a treat or what not.

John Travolta's Dogs Killed In Airport Accident
Hello Gorgeous replied to PepitoVFR's topic in In The News
I heard about it on the radio the other day and I'm still in shock at how such an incident could've happened in the first place! Poor family -
One thing I can't understand - how can anyone stand to work in those conditions where animals are being treated so badly? I may have an inkling of what pet shop you're referring to, and if it's the same one, I've heard nothing but horrible things about it.

Internatioanl Travelling With Dogs
Hello Gorgeous replied to khakilulu's topic in General Dog Discussion
Two of my friends have used Jetpets and haven't had any problems, though I'd probably research it more -
Done and done, thanks chewbacca, had plenty of paw paw ointment and sterile pads in cupboard...not exactly sure how long she will leave the pads on though(lol put socks on top of them and taped them on ) guessing she will have them off as soon as I go to bed. Glue gun was "ment to be" out of reach, Indie the husky has recently(yesterday) learned how to open the door handle to the garage and the glue gun was up on the bench(1.5m high and pushed to the back wall), hes too smart for his own good sometimes.Past 3days hes also decided that when they are outside and told to "go to bed" that it is alot better idea to wait until I go back inside and then pull his bed from the laundry right up to the house door so he doesnt have to sit on the tiles and technically hes still in his bed as he was told grrrr.(unfortunatly for him Bonnie takes advantage and claims the bed as her own).So as of today he gets one bed out for Bonnie then goes back and gets the other bed and places next to hers at the back door for himself. Oh and he keeps checking the window to see if Im watching, as soon as he sees me he drops the bed and lays down on the grass oh so innocently asif hes been lying there the whole time. No helpful advice here but I have to say that has to be the cutest thing ever! :p
