I haven't updated for a while but that's because the pups are just growing along. One, Bazza, had a mishap recently which has left him very snuffly. He is on a anti-inflammatory and Ab's and I wish I could say he's getting better but he is not really doing as well as the others. I will get him back to the vet in the next couple of days if there is not improvement. I have managed to improve the pen situation and the pups seem happy in their environment. Narla is doing very well and still has a wonderful temperament. Trooper and Brock

Bazza has the snuffles and doesn't want to suckle. He comes inside three times a day and is happy to eat mushy Advance wet food and formula from a plate - so I'm hoping he will get stronger. He is on AB's and anti-inflammatory meds to help him get through. We don;t know if he has been bitten by mum of had a fall but he just sounds like I do sometimes with Sinus issues! I think we can get him through with some extra TLC.

I am not sure. It has been horrendous here during the recent rain event but its sunny now and we can reassess the needs of these guys. At present they are fenced off from the rest of the Garage by a flimsy pen fence and have a heated bed, but its wet and not ideal and I would like a low fence that extends across the front of the shed that Narla can jump over. That's why the hay bales would have been ideal but have had no luck sourcing them. Everyone had big round ones here. Not sure how to build something. I'm going to have a chance today to have a better look at it, and I'll let you know. Thanks for your kind offer.

Thanks T - I need something like that but Bunnings is 100kms away - Have had no luck with hay bales either. Seems most people also get these from Wagga too! Narla is doing very well and pups are beginning to show an interest in trying solid food.

Thank you mixeduppup. She has two coats, one waterproof and a nice soft one from T. She is about 60 cms. The 70 we tried on her was too big. We have been using donated blankets and changing them often - for five pups they can sure make a lot of mess! They are on a heated bed but I do worry about the cold. Narla is locked in with them at night and although she doesn't spend a lot of time with them during the day she is at least there for the coldest bit. All they puppies are doing really well. They are growing so fast now and being more mobile every day. Soon we will need to improve their arrangements so that they have a play area as well. More challenges to come. Narla is a bit clumsy and knocks down the sides of the pen fairly often so we need a rethink in that regard.

Narla's spotty sores are healing well with the treatment. She had a bath today and judging by her timidity, I would say her very first bath ever. It needed doing and I am so glad she looks (and smells) so much better now. I have spent parts of today having puppy cuddles and enjoying the little ones. We have the names sorted out (except for the two brindles who are presently too much alike) and with the addition of coloured puppy collars we will eventually be able to identify them all. They had a spell in the warm sunshine today and were installed on clean bedding once again. Here are today's happy snaps.... You know my first thought was ringworm but we've ruled that out now - thank goodness. I now think like you that they are possible insect bites - like green ants or a spider perhaps - from the dirt where she whelped the pups. Thankfully they are all Ok. The vet (Mivet Narrandera)says definitely not bite wounds from another dog so we are scratching our heads and treating them twice a day. They aren't any worse so fingers crossed they get better with better nutrition and AB's!

Hi everyone. Narla went to the vet yesterday and had her stitches removed. He said the hardening I could feel was too high up to be mastitis. He biopsied it and could find no abnormalities so I am watching it to see if it is getting bigger. Clayton also found some lessions on her thigh that he shaved and studied under a microscope. No sign of fungal growth but we are treating with topical anti fungal cream and more AB's. Poor girl she just can't cut a break!! She was a very good girl Though!! On the Up side - the wonderful Lexi from Belco Pets organised the Advance rep to donate 4 slabs of puppy food and 15kgs of dry!! Its already been delivered and Narla had some last night! Thanks Lexi and everyone - its because of your generosity I can get this girl the best care and food while she recovers from her ordeal! Go Narla!

You're the second person to mention that to me as a cure....hhhmmm must be something in it - just have to work out how to bind them on.

She will have stitches out Wednesday and then will be able to have a bath if it wasn't so cold and I have to work during the day so it will be Thursday before I can give her one. She was a bit hot but not on that teat and it isn't sore as near as I can tell. I will get OH to check it out properly today re massage etc. Keep you posted....

Sad news tonight. Narla has one hardened booby. She will need another vet visit and probably more AB's. Hope its not mastitis after all she's been thru. :-( The good news is though, that I have received word of a donation from the Advance Pet food rep in our part of the world to help Narla's nutrition and hopefully help with weight gain. Narla says thank you Lexi and Advance Pet Foods and all the other super kind people who have helped with donations and good wishes. We will stay positive and get her the help she needs. :)

Narla has adoption interest!! I put a snippet of her story up on facebook and a very kind and understanding lady has expressed an interest in adopting her when she is fully ready to leave. This one will break my heart to let go, but I am so pleased for her, to think she will have a permanent loving home at last. I will check it out pretty well though cause she's a bit of a favourite! :D

Thank you everyone. Narla needs about another 10 kgs but its doubtful she will pu that on while she is feeding the puppies. The pups' eyes are beginning to open and they are more mobile every day. She is so good with the other small dogs in residence and so cuddly. I adore her!!

Found out just yesterday that she has only had one other litter so I'm guessing, given their propensity to let her breed every cycle - she could be as young as 15 months or as "old" as two years. Also found out her first litter was 17 pups - but not sure how many survived. Poor baby. I'm glad she won't have to go through that again. Hi everyone, JJust a quick update on my beautiful girl. She is really doing great! She's an excellent mum and eating as if to make up for lost meals!! I am feeding her up to four times a day with biscuits on hand all the time. Today in our donations from Chris Tabbart we received a large 5 litre water dispenser, and I am looking forward to setting this up tomorrow. She drinks about 2.5 litres of water daily so this should help keep up the supply. I love all the name suggestions and will definitely keep some for future doggies in care, but I am leaning toward Ned, Bazza, Brock, Trooper and Koda. Of course it will depend on their personalities and that's a little way off yet. I thought you might like to see some more pics of pups, and Gnarla with my dog, Jezzi and my foster dog, Rocco waiting patiently for breakfast this morning. I would love the time to lay down and cuddle with them all but am still working 24/7 until tomorrow night. Then I might get the chance to spend a little more time with my little family. Hurry up with brekky mum! (excuse the fencing but we have the painter in and he leaves the gate open) Gnarla and Rocco - she looks small here but isn't really! The babies!

Vet report today was very good. She weighs 29 kgs, She has not had her stitches out just yet as the vet wants to wait a little longer because of pups suckling. She has ample milk and all pups have a clean bill of health. So still can't give her a warm bath but that's ok - the weather isn't all that nice anyway. She is eating 4 times a day and really putting away the calories. She still prefers raw food over cooked but we are mixing it up a bit for her now. I am trying to persue the cruelty aspect but it may be hard to prove. She isn't chipped though so today she becomes officially RADAR's dog so we will chip her ASAP and hopefully when the painter is finished, we can improve her living conditions and give her some space to wander around. She seems to want to get outside a bit now, it's just this really crappy cold weather that is making things difficult all round. Keep the name suggestions coming. I am looking forward to their eyes opening and being able to give them cuddles.

Well it could be the camera, but if her stitches come out tomorrow than it will be bath time provided the weather is good and she can begin to feel a whole lot better. I have noticed a slight improvement to the coverage over her bones though
