  1. Ah, good. The one that said "Obeys the "stay" command immediately." I didn't want to answer - I haven't taught her "stay" so of course she wouldn't respond to it immediately. So glad I didn't do a bad by skipping it. I will now fill it in for a couple of other dogs I own. I hope you get some valuable data. Cheers.
  2. Was going to, but couldn't find accommodation that allows dogs inside. So had to pass this time.
  3. I normally get told, "You can't tell what's in that one!" "Actually, it's a purebred border terrier." "A border collie cross?" "No, but they originate in the same place as border collies." "I think someone is having you on..." I actually get many comments that my dog is like a meerkat...
  4. This is my attitude too. As long as I think the breeder is trying to 'improve the breed', then I'm happy to be convinced. "A good dog belongs to the breed."
  5. The Duramune vaccination is approved for 3 year use, so I would use that one in order to get a vet certificate that states as such.
  6. Only chanced upon the tail end of it today - seemed good!

  8. Oh my gosh, so cheap and everything. Almost worth the trip! Thanks for posting.
  9. I typically scratch, but have exhibited when travel was involved. E.g. Last year at our breed speciality, my bitch was in season and I exhibited as it's a 16 hour trip each way... So not something I was going to miss out on!
  10. Because vasectomies mean that the puppy can develop properly, while desexing alters hormones and so also development.
  11. Dog is already titled. He is only in the country until the beginning of 2012, hence the 'rush' of sorts.
  12. I had a similar kind of scenario, and went for 28 days after the later mating. The ultrasound was able to tell me that the bitch actually conceived from one of the first slip matings - which was good to know!
  13. Okay, glad to know that this doesn't seem to be taboo! With any luck they will come in one a week or something, but I just like to be prepared for the worst. And I'm sure March will be his best month yet!
  14. March isn't here yet, but I have several people who want to put their bitches to my stud dog - and at least 3 in March. How do you organise yourself if 3 bitches come in at the same time and are all wanting to use your dog? It probably won't happen, but I do like to have a plan.
  15. I also propose that the ANKC is still for docking (it's the government that has banned docking against the will of the ANKC), and that is why the ANKC permits docked dogs to be shown. While the ANKC is against cropping, hence cropped dogs not being allowed to be shown. (Plus the lack of cropping tradition in Australia.)
  16. I am also looking for puppy preschool recommendations, but South of the city. I went to Holdfast Dog Club with Clover and liked it, but now they only do Saturdays - which is when I'm at dog shows!
  17. Get a sheet of corrugated iron, and bend it into the corner. Attach (screw) to shed and to the fence. You will have a 'rounded corner'.
  18. With any luck, yes... Am planning another litter, though, and it may clash. But we'll just have to wait and see.
  19. I must say I found Panksepp a little hard to listen to, but do appreciate you posting this link. Today I found this link, and I think it's pretty much the same message as the video (but dog specific). A very nice summary. http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/my-pup...age-communicate
  20. Thanks. I'm very excited to have another dog to show and a puppy! I've had my name down for another border terrier for the last 2 years but they've had trouble getting the bitch pregnant, so I had to breed my own.
  21. Oops. I voted Weim when I meant GSP. I worked in boarding kennels for a few years and found all these breeds to be quite stressy in a kennel environment... But GSPs the least, so that's why I voted them. More positive experiences for me!
  22. Very happy to share some pictures of the girl I am keeping from my current litter... The only girl in the litter, so my hands are a bit tied! But I'm very happy with how she's turning out. Her name is Winona and these pictures show her at 5 weeks.
  23. I'd say border terriers, but I think they're too small for you. They should be 5.5-75kg, but many borders (especially the boys) push 10kgs. Certain lines are bigger/taller/heavier than others. Otherwise, my suggestion is Irish Terrier.
  24. Been to Matthew Condon and Bernard Nadolny. Bernard is half the price of Matthew. Matthew does great things - free service to Greyhound Adoption Program. PS: Bernard Nadolny is in Christies Beach.
