Puppy Toilet Training Timeframe Poll (for 8-14 Weeks Old Puppy)
Leema replied to GrumpySmurf's topic in Puppy Chat
I read the poll wrong and voted dog-age instead of how long the dog was with me. Puppies are normally 80% at around 10-12 weeks, but my two girls were about 10 months + before I say there were 100% (or that I trusted them to be). As my bitches are entire, at least with my first one, she decided peeing inside was okay when she came in season the first time! Waiting to see if her daughter has picked up this trait. -
This worked very well. You did a great job. Thanks for posting a link.

Owner penalties are supposed to be introduced into the Crime Act in the next fortnight or so, according to Hansard and a politician that have emailed me back.
-
I think you are referring to the speech by Mr BARBER (Northern Metropolitan) , Lender didn't say much of any consequence in his speech. S You're right. Will email Barber the same email (Ish).
-
I would show him because he's a baby. Babies are there more for experience. As long as they don't hurt (i.e. don't wreck his experience) it should be fine.

I've become more familiar with this now, and actually this is not a 'just' - this is a big problem. It pretty much allows for the government to approve any standard they please in order to exterminate bully type dogs. I guess we wait and see the standard in the gazette today.

When I first read your description, I thought you were TRYING to describe a big Am Staff. :p

Glad to know people are utilising my emails as templates. They are not legendary letters, but I rather something get sent than nothing - even if they have to hear my same bullshit a few times from a few different sources.

For those concerned about the introduction of this legislation in South Australia, I have sent this email to both Mike Rann and Isobel Redmond. Mike Rann: http://www.premier.sa.gov.au/index.php?option=com_forme&Itemid=0&fid=1 Isobel Redmond: http://www.isobelredmond.com.au/Contact.aspx

Hi Mim. I am not Victorian, but have made a note of these names from the Hansard document of people I hope I'll have time to contact. These people all engaged, in some way, with the discussion regarding the DD legislation amendments. Ms Ryall (member for Mitcham) Peter Walsh Ms Allan (Bendigo East) Mr Hodgett (Kilsyth) Mr Pallas (Tarneit) Mr Crisp (Mildura) Ms Campbell (Pascoe Vale) Mr Languiller (Derrimut) Ms Beattie (Yuroke) Mr John Lenders (Southern Metropolitan) Mr Ramsay (Western Victoria) Mr Barber (Northern Metropolitan) I've found everyone easy to find by a Google search. sumosmum - I feel I can't do 'nothing', even though I have no idea who these people are. I have to Google them AND which party they belong too. Lenders made some really sceptical statements in the Handsard, and that is why I felt the need to contact him. I may have been slightly flattering - politicians like that, don't they? ;)

Seemingly, by Hansard, John Lenders seems like an alright bloke sceptical of the Baillieu government's plan. I emailed him. His email is: [email protected]

I've compiled my letters in one place, to encourage others to send similar letters. Here's a link: http://leemakennels.com/blog/dogs-and-politics/pitbull-hysteria-australia/

Yes, sticky, which means we wait for what the approved standard describes... Which will ultimately be a smooth coated muscular dog with a big head.
-
In reality, it was probably a black dog with tan eyebrows.
-
... I guess I am a bit misguided, as I actually think Dogs Vic might say something if one of their breeds were at risk. We could hope.

Thanks for posting this. I've been trying to find the details of the latest dog attack. I hope that this dog is a rottie, as it may aid us in demonstrating how useless proposed law changes in Victoria are. How scary for the children. I hope that they do not have any long-lasting physical or psychological scars from the incident.
-
Lisa - I am concerned too. I contacted my local members (state and federal) to express my concerns. I suggest you perhaps do the same - you're welcome to use the letters I've posted. The foster dog I have at the moment is hugely at risk from these laws. She will not be rehomed in Victoria and I am highly concerned about rehoming her, full stop, because of the potential grief this could cause an adoptive family if anything similar was to occur in other states.

Another scary article http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-news/councils-call-for-more-officers-to-hunt-dangerous-pit-bulls/story-fn7x8me2-1226126128704 I posted this comment:

Staffords Being Made A Restricted Breed In Vic?
Leema replied to parrotpea's topic in General Dog Discussion
The problem is that with lose guidelines describing a 'pitbull', dogs that are not pitbulls may be destroyed. Particularly any American Staffordshire or Staffordshire Bull Terrier or crosses of these breeds. A lot of dogs fall into the latter category, so a lot of dogs are at risk. -
I have 3 councils areas I'm considering moving to, in the South East of SA, in a few years time. I have contacted all these councils and asked about dogs. How many can I have? What is the process for having more than that? What if I change dogs? I have now listed those 3 councils in order of priority, and it will be a factor in deciding which property to purchase.
-
In a way, this is 'good' that this is such a minor immediate change. The bill just: *Changes how restricted breeds are recognised and *Makes people unable to register a dog as a restricted breed post the implementation of the bill. Neither of these things are GOOD, but they're better than the scheme of things that could happen - that is, the future changes. It means we still have time to letter write and make a fuss. Please do.

This same letter I sent to Peter Walsh. His email is [email protected] ETA: I am posting these in the hopes it will assist others in their letter writing.
-
Sent this to Ted Baillieu through http://www.premier.vic.gov.au/contact.html ETA: I am posting these in the hopes it will assist others in their letter writing.

As long as the dogs have water in their crates, you are not breaking any laws or regulations, as far as I know.

Just sent an email to Daniel Andrews. His email is [email protected]
