How awful Cant think of how I could be much help all the way in SA but I certainly do hope he is returned safe and well! He's a very distinctive looking little dog.. not the sort that could dissapear easily, hopefully someone kind has picked him up and will take him to a vet or something similar!

And of course.. because it was his birthday my Mum decided it was necessary that he dress up! No one freak.. Boomer is a dog who is very used to wearing things.. he's very skinny with hardly any hair so is very prone to the cold and is rarely without a jacket! He didn't seem bothered by the hat at all.. I think he would have worn it all night if I let him rather than just a few minutes for a photo! Strange little dog.. Lol

So today (well, yesterday now!) was our 'puppy' Boomers' first birthday! I feel a bit guilty because I thought it wasn't until November.. but woke up to a text from his breeder this morning wishing him happy birthday! Whoops lol. He got spoiled anyway though.. he will get spoiled again on Wednesday when it's my other dogs 11th birthday! I want to have a go at making a 'doggy' cake for them both haha. How convenient that they're both only three days apart.. combined puppy parties every year! hehe Here are some pics of our little chap. We love him so much and couldn't imagine life without him now! He's a very special little dog who has bought us much happiness over the past year.. I hope that continues for many long years in the future . Being pregnant has caused me to lose a lot of the friendships I thought I'd have forever and his constant companionship has been a real comfort. Couldn't be without him, even if he is quite naughty sometimes :D. These were from the day that we got him! He was so little and adorable.. not much has changed if you ask me :D.

There are no laws stating that you HAVE to microchip your pet in Adelaide. It's certainly reccomended though!

How Many People Here Brush Their Dogs Teeth?

True.. but did 'God' create all the weird and wonderful breeds of dogs we have these days who have VERY different muzzles and teeth structure? Nope! We did. -

I think it has a lot to do with the shape of their mouths and the tightness of their gums. Greyhounds and iggies are bad for plaque build up because they are a breed that has very tight lips.. the bacteria gets held to their teeth and the way their teeth are positioned means that even chewing bones wont chip it off! I have an 11 year old cattle dog X who has been given bones several times a week for her entire life and she has lovely shiny teeth . However after reading this thread I took a peek in her mouth out of curiosity and found a few funny looking lumpy bumps along her gumline! Wonder what that could be :/ We were going to the vets for her cartrophen injection tomorrow anyway so I will have him take a look.. I hope it's nothing serious! I wish I'd looked in her mouth sooner . -

I use bones and brush the teeth of one of my dogs. He is an Italian Greyhound - a breed notorious for bad teeth! So I brush sort of as a preventative measure.. dont want expensive dental bills in the future. Lol -
don't forget outside our local shopping centre as well....husky x Great Dane pups Agree 100%. Banning pet shop sales is part of the solution but it sure as hell isn't all of it..

It was a very well deserved price Tokkie! She is ADORABLE! I almost wish Boomer was a girl just I could buy him a pretty dress like that . I remember seeing Pele walking around! Didn't even recognize her from DOL. I fail . Wish I had of seen her tricks, sounds fair impressive !

LOL silly me! I must have misheard.. I asked somone his name and thought they said Bish . Biff is much cuter! That's lovely that he'll be adopted soon.. he seemed like a very happy little guy! I'm sure he'd fit into a nice family very easily . OMG! Nandi makes me implode with cute! She is ADORABLE! Was there a prize for best dressed? She should have won it if there was! I wish I got to enter my old girl in the 'golden oldies' comp . Stupid prior engagements lol That Aussie was very regal looking, beautiful boy . I wanted to stop and chat to the Aussie people but Jess had other ideas and didn't want to stop for no chatting! :/ lol

A beautiful Anatolian Shepherd (I think the lady said he was actually a kangal though)! These are among my favorite breeds and I was so excited to have seen one! Was great to speak to an owner too.. I would love to own one of these guys in a few years :p. Adorable pug puppy! Hehee <3. Sleepy Boston terrier! I had to ask if they were bostons or frenchies! I've never seen a boston in real life before.. they're really quite cute .

D'awwe. Adorable little berner puppy! A very proud looking rottie who seemed to pose on cue when I whipped the camera out! Lol Boomer playing with one of the SA dog rescue dogs.. I think his name is Bish :p. He was very friendly and seemed to love playing! Boomer was excited to have a playmate close to his own size lol. There's something you dont see everyday.. a rottie pulling a cart lol! Wish I got a better shot of this.

My photos are not very good Sorry about that! I was either holding our elderly cattle dog X bully breed who just looooves to pull on the lead or our very excitable italian greyhound pup! Our camera is gigantic and cumbersome so you can imagine the difficulty I had taking photos . But still, these are the ones I took and it seems silly not to share them . We had a good few hours there! Met lots of dog and I was very impressed with how well behaved our two mutts were. I almost didn't bring our old cattle dog X mix Jess because she can be a bit grumpy if other dogs irritate her and I was worried about how she'd handle so many new dogs! But she was brilliantly behaved all day.. nothing but tail wagging, happy smiling and even a few play bows! I haven't seen her do one of those since she was a young'in lol. I guess she deserves more credit.. I wont be so hesitant with taking her to such events in future. Our little iggy Boomer got over his characteristic shyness relatively quickly too.. he played with lots of dogs and was petted by lots of people and seemed quite happy about it all :p. Please feel free to contribute any photos you took today to this thread! I hope there hasn't already been one started.. I did look but couldn't find any. Pretty boy Boomer. One would have thought it would be too warm to be wearing a jacket.. apparently not. He just wouldn't settle until it was on so he got his way . A chillaxin' Aussie . A couple of irate looking bulldogs . They were very friendly actually.. adorable! A very gentle giant Irish Wolfhound saying hello to what I think is a schnauzer! Just beautiful <3.

Yeah there wasn't really much to see.. but I'm not sure what people were expecting really? I dont think it was meant to be an all day event and for christ sakes it was FREE lol! It was good to have a meander through to look at all the breed displays.. I was hoping to buy a few new collars and leads, etc for our dogs but there wasn't really much of anywhere to buy things like that from :p. I thought it was moderately crowded though? We were there from about 11 - 1 and I was surprised at the amount of dogs there! I thought the competitions looked like lots of fun Shame we had to leave before they were all over though, would have to of stayed and watched . Next year maybe

We just got home . It was a good day! I took a few photos and bumped into atleast one other DOL member (I've forgotten her name though! ). I will post up my pics later.. they're pretty crud because holding onto an excitable cattle dog X and take photos at the same time isn't easy. LOL

I rarely have baths but our italian greyhound will walk right into the shower with me! Our shower is one of those wasteful double ended ones where two people can shower at once because it has two shower heads so it's very long.. he loves to just get up the other end of the shower where the water cant get to him and bask in the steam! It's cute but weird.. people freak out when I say my dog showers with me! I dont see why.. it's not like he's looking at anything, he just likes the warmth. He also doesn't really object if I drag him down to the water end for a quick wash! I can tell he doesn't particularly enjoy it but he never struggles and doesn't seem to mind it really lol. ETA: Those photos of your dogs are so cute.. what a pair of expressionistic little pups!

My boyfriend and I will possibly be there with our two! How exciting

Out of courtesy, it might be nice to edit your post to include a warning about the graphic nature of those photos. Very sad
