  1. Loungefly- I love the photos, the first photo looks like shes putting on her sooky eyes. Her little friend is so cute too.
  2. I'm not a breeder just a pet lover. I find both respones/letters really good. Only from a avarage persons point (me being the average person :D ) I like merijigs response/letter a little more.
  3. I read somewhere that there are white Mini Schnauzers overseas. I wonder if they will be sold for more $$ than the other colours once they come into Australia. Maybe breeders will charge for the extra expence of importing a breeding dog of that colour ?
  4. My dog (pure breed) is nine and he has been fed dry dog food and our dinner or scraps (which consists of veggies, meat, pasta, rice, bread everything we eat he eats the only veg he doesn't eat is lettuce and onion) all his life and he is very healthy. Our vet recommends feeding our dog the food that we eat. I have only needed to take him to the vet for his yearly vaccination. I have read it's not necessary to vaccinate every year, I will have to look into this. In the yearly 80's we had a pure breed Collie rough. He was a very healthy dog, he died aged nine. Maybe I've just been lucky to have heathly dogs. I think that because we live such busy lives we tend to be less patient with alot of things including our pet so we might just rush them to the vets quickly rather than try to find alternatives to non serious doggy ailments.
  5. Interesting just how close they are to a Giant Schnauzer when clipped off!! I thought the same.
  6. It is not only a shame, it is another nail in the coffin. But, we can ALL DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, and easily. Get those well bred, healthy looking dogs out there trotting smartly alongside you on a road, safely on lead. They will be seen by a lot more people than they will ever be in dog parks, or in dog shows. They will be seen by people who say: "Gee, take a look at that dog, will you! I would LOVE to own a dog like that!" We have seen what happens when beautifully bred, healthy dogs appear in movies ...... the whole world wants to own one just like the dog in the movie. The same thought can be achieved by putting your dogs on view to drivers, particularly those stuck in traffic ...... after all, you have a CAPTIVE AUDIENCE It wasn't until I saw these 2 stunning dogs out and about yesterday that I realised how much we need to do this. Full credit to their owners and their breeders, they both moved like a dream. Soooo important. Souff So true, this would be one way to promote pure breed dogs.
  7. I dont want only breeders! I want anyone who feels a bit passionate about it. Please count me in.
  8. Well my dog only knows come & sit. Comes to his name too. Toilets on command 95% of the time and never walks through the door without my command. Never went to formal training I wonder if he is too old to start. edit to add he pulls like crazy on the leash.
  9. I think this is very important. Only I'm not a breeder but would love to help brainstorm (some ideas).
  10. Your dogs are beautiful. I'm tempted to get another mini Schnauzer baby, my boy will be 9 years in Jan.
  11. I've seen that movie too.... Fingers crossed he's safely found BArtok! I know I've seen the movie too, but it's true. this was our Duke. edit to try to add a picture again
  12. I think this is a great idea pluse the potential buyer will become more educated and word of mouth works well too. Only that those pet shops won't stop selling pups from BYB's and puppy farms because they can make hundreds of $ selling one of those dogs. Today I saw 5 husky type dogs about the size of an adult mini schnauzer all in the same glass pen. It's so sad. They had Cockerspaniels (looked cross to me) for $1100.
  13. We had a Collie rough growing up. We loved him dearly. He went missing, 5 days later he came home looking a complete mess dirty and tired like he had been walking for days. My sisters and I would walk on the dirt footpath a long distance to the shops/station many times during the week we think he smalled our scent and found us. Good luck, doggys are so cleaver.
  14. In winter he gets washed in our bath tub, as it gets warmer outside with the hose.
  15. Earlier this year many people that had a missing dog advertised in a major trading websites were contacted by email and told... that their dog had been found...to come and pick it up from an address in Guildford. It was the cruelest thing. I can't believe someone can do that. Website and police were contacted, don't know the outcome.
