Hi Lyndsay, I soooo wish I could come too!!! Not possible with puppies though, otherwise I would make the effort. One of our girls from our last litter called Meia will be coming with her owner. Meia is only going to be 5 months old, but won't be entered in the show this time. Next time round. Too much paperwork to do before she's eligble. We have quite a few of our offspring owners of leonbergers in Queensland, especially in Brisbane, so maybe I could organise for you to visit one of our puppy owners to meet some leos in the flesh and ask questions of the owners? Just let me know what suburb or town you live in and I'll let you know if we have any there. They make fantastic assistance dogs if trained well from a puppy. Hi Sophie and Gracie, Newfs can be very protective. I nearly got a Newfie, but it fell through, and then I discovered leonbergers and have never looked back. Now I own and breed leonbergers and I am happy to answer any questions about leonbergers. We have quite a lot of them and they are all family pets and come into the house with us and have turns at sleeping inside as well. I fully trust them to protect me if anything threatened me. They are very much dogs who love nothing better than to be your constant companion. They indeed will protect you if they sense there is harm coming your way. Hello zzz Top, There are a number of reasons why people don't have succesful matings. It could be that it's an over-familiarity thing, but you have not described what happens when you want them to mate. Does she refuse him, is he not interested, are they trying but not succeeding? If she's had a litter to him already, there shouldn't be anything physically wrong, so I wouldn't rush off to a vet just yet. Do you check her for when she is peaking? Can you give me more info and I can probably point you in the right direction unless there is something physically wrong. Cheers, Elsha.
