Two 8 or 10 yr old girls got into the RSPCA in Bundaberg the other night and let all the dogs and cats out, and those that were reluctant to go were manhandled. CCTV caught them in the act. The video was on the news the other night. All the dogs were recovered, but one cat was still missing at the time of the interview.

Using Human Dandruff Shampoos On A Dog?
Marion 01 replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have a dog who has had itchy skin going into sores etc, and I have been using human Selsun gold (not the blue) on her for years, and it was the only thing that worked. If any of my dogs get itchy skin, I bath them in that. I really don't think it makes any difference using human shampoo, I used that and dog shampoo on my show dogs, whichever worked better for them. When you consider what sort of chemical dips we use on dogs, human shampoo is the least of our worries. The main thing being to rinse it off well, or even use a vinegar rinse to neutralise any residue. -
Nothing nicer than to have them back as they once were. Hope she has many more years enjoying life. Good on you Lilly.

Professional Cleaning Of Teeth
Marion 01 replied to mgardner89's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Had one of my girls to the vets for dental work, 13 teeth removed under GA and the rest cleaned etc. Just over $800 and that is with the more expensive anaesthetic. and meds at the vets, and meds to come home with. -
Lovely river Chris, wouldn't we all love to have that at our place. You are lucky it's so close.

Pers, it has been sky clear for days now, and about 26 degrees during the day, night time and early mornings are cool. Stans mum, I hope you can experience rural living one day. I couldn't go back to city living now, it would drive me nuts.

Lovely view pers, I can't top that one, but took these just a few minutes ago of the sun going down through the trees, and also the northern paddock looking towards the Mt. Morgan Range. The greyed out part is of the back of the house and you really don't need to see that eyesore.

Grove burger don't give up on Melton yet, we live in the mountains near Rocky and it has never been a tick area, let alone a paralysis tick area, but apparently all the rain that Qld has had in the last year, has the paralysis tick popping up in places that once were safe. One of my dogs earlier this year was in hospital for 4 days on a drip and they would not let her home until her gag reflex had returned. She recovered well, but we are now aware of the ticks and go over the dogs constantly. We also have an abundance of bandicoots around the area which are paralysis tick hosts. Sending Melton healing thoughts.

Wow Rach, that is fantastic. For my next birthday can I come to your place. The cake and everything turned out perfect. Did she blow out her candle by herself? Takoda ETA: Meant to say that the jeweller did a lovely job of engraving the pendant .

Booge I have had a dog that has itches and constantly breaking out and then getting smelly, and I have found that Selsun gold was the best thing for her, but it's an ongoing thing and she needs to be bathed with the selsun every two to three weeks to keep it in check. I don't know if it will help your dog, but I tried everything until I was told about the shampoo by someone else who had a dog with the same problem. You could try putting Pawpaw ointment on the sores, that's is what I do with any of mine who get hot spots from itching and biting areas. We have the same problem with allergies as we have a lot of air borne pollens etc, as well as grasses. It's like a never ending story.

Any News On Ned Please?
Marion 01 replied to grumpette's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I have been following Neds progress since the beginning and agree with padraic, everyone has done their very best for him, and now old gentleman you can run free at last. RIP Ned. -
A couple of months ago I bought a new computer, nothing expensive, but heaps of what I want for my graphics programs, the only thing I didn't count on was that I was using Windows XP Professional as my operating system, and the new one came with Windows 7, well the graphics program I use the most out of all of them was not compatible with Windows 7, so I have to keep going back to my other computer to do a lot of my graphics which is a pain. So if you say that your computer is old, you might find that some programs won't run on the latest operating system.

Yes muttrus it would be good for the oldies to have their own thread, I have a Tibetan Terrier who is 16 yrs old today Prue, she had her tail removed a couple of months ago due to a cancer on it, she is blind, and a bit arthritic, a bit demented, but I'm sure she sleeps with her ears flapping because she doesn't miss getting off the bed for feed time, or our feed time for that matter. Have to carry her out into the yard for a pee, because by the time she found her way out there, it would be too late. Gotta love them This is her taken a couple of weeks ago. .

I had a lovely desexed cat called Pepe who lived until he was 18 yrs old, (He was bought as a young kitten) and was pts because of kidney failure. My daughter has a spayed female cat at present who is still going strong at 18 yrs old. She was bought from a petshop as a little kitten. As with everything it is the luck of the draw, whatever is meant to be, same with dogs and people.

Your jewellery is really beautiful PS, and having all the right media to display them on shows them off just perfectly. Good luck with the fund raising event, I think it will go very well. -

Mine think possum poo, and guinea pig poo is the best thing ever, and yes they like the guinea pig food too, any that falls on the floor is gobbled up.

Urgent Need For Foster Carers
Marion 01 replied to Perry's Mum's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I had itchy dogs that would ooze liquid from their skin, and I found that bathing them in Selsun gold people shampoo (Not the blue one), has done the best for them over all other shampoos. I know it's not a cure for Sarcoptic mange, but it may help them to feel a bit of relief. -
Sluggish & Stiff(ish) Gait - Please Help
Marion 01 replied to Wobbly's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ticks are still definately around even though this is our coldest winter for a long time, we go over our dogs a few times a day, as we now have paralysis ticks which we haven't had up until last year. -
Beautiful pics Alasse, aren't the lions just so special. They look a very pale colour to the norm or is it just the light.
