westiemum, on my fb page there is a rescue called "Paws for Thought" Rescue. This is one of their oldmobiles that they use. I hope they don't mind me using the pic. I don't know if it is available to be bought like that as a specific carrier, but it sure fits the bill.

TSD This is a memorial poster for Dolly. She looks like a beautiful lady. I usually do memorial posters like this one of dogs who have left us and are now happily playing at Rainbow Bridge.

The public look in the dog and pets column of the local newspapers, or on gumtree. My neice recently lost her epileptic Boxer and bought another pup on New Years day for $300. I said to my sister that judging by that price it would have to be a byb who has not tested for any of the health problems that Boxers can have. She should have learnt her lesson from the first dog. If pups on limit register are sold desexed, people who back yard breed to make money, would not be able to do it. Time will come when ordinary people who want these breeds will be buying the cheapest ones from byb, and thereby over time bringing back all the health problems that breeders have worked hard to eliminate, and by breeders not desexing their pups they are also undoing their own good work. Think about it. It's like a never ending circle, until something is done about it. Think of all the cross breeds in pounds, most are from certain breeds and would have to have come from a pure dog or bitch to be a cross., it may have been a few generations and many pups ago, but........

Yeh, our dogs were even quiet for a change. IM when we came here 20 years ago, we had bunnies all over the place, and about every 5 years mixo would go though them and a lot would die, but when this new calisi virus was introduced, it wiped out all the bunnies around our place, and no others have ever moved in. We used to know most of the bunnies by sight, and their bubs.

How far back can you find your girls ancestors Mita, would be really interesting to see what is in her background as far back as it goes. There is also an old type in the Lhasa Apsos too, and there is a breeder in NSW who specialises in the old type ones, and they also differ in the length of their muzzle as opposed to more recent types. So all in all the Tibbies and the Damchi could very well be one and the same breed, depending on where they were dispersed to, and how they were bred.. There were differing sizes in the early Tibetan Terriers, because the big ones 21"/22" went with the farmers and their yaks as herders ( which is basically what a TT is, not a terrier at all) the middlesized ones were kept as family guard dogs, and the smaller types went to the monastries to live with the monks.

Just watch anything that stings near the girly bits, otherwise she will be doing cartwheels. Tea Tree Oil, Eucalyptus Oil is poisonous to dogs, as has been said. I have the same thing with one of my older bitches at the moment. We put pawpaw ointment on it if it really annoys her, she is absolutely fine in every other way.

Thanks, that was really interesting reading, Tibbie tabbie. So if there was anyone who wanted to get really serious about these dogs, they need to get some DNA done of the ones in Bhutan, that won't happen, but it would be a start. The languages are so complex.

Who is to say that there are not Damchi genes in the early Tibbie pedigrees. Surely if they went through India, where most of the other Tibetan breeds went, there would have been some saved to other countries, and because they were so much like Tibbies, maybe going under the Tibbie name. The only way to tell for sure would be DNA. The lady who brought the Tibetan Terrier out of Tibet, via India, and then the UK, was an English doctor who worked & lived in Cawnpore. When China invaded Tibet most of the dogs were killed, but a lot of the dog breeds were either hidden or taken on the long journey by foot out of the country. Zou Chai would have been a real find had he not been desexed. I tried googling about Damchi and there is not a lot of useful info. Another interesting thing is their colouring, which is mostly like a tri colour, or black with white, looking more like a grizzled or pepper blend.

Unfortunately this happens with any type of animal that is being shown and winning. Dogs have been poisoned at shows, it is a sick person who could do this to any animal. RIP Little ones you did not deserve this.

Yes Mita, that seems to be the problem, they didn't get the exposure of the other breeds, and with the very thin gene pool in Germany they are in danger of fading into oblivion. I can remember reading copies of letters in Tibetan Terrier books, 35 or so years ago of a few people who travelled to Tibet and found some pure Tibetan Terriers and negotiated with the Tibetan people to buy them, & bring them back to the US, and same with the soldiers with the Tibbies etc, but had that have been done in Bhutan with the Damchi they would now be a breed that is safe from extinction.

They are lovely, I had never heard of them, but they could be mistaken for an oversize Tibbie. Apparently there are a few in Germany, but the gene pool is so thin, what a shame they are not more available.

You'll be taking lots of weekly pics of him as he will grow so fast. He is going to be a big boy and they change so quickly. Love his name. Be interesting to follow Fritzs' journey. Have always loved Esky and her colour.

The whole thing sounds sus to me. I hope the autopsy discovers the real truth. Shame that these situations that the dogs suffer for something that they may not have done. Would be so nice for once to hear the dogs side of the story, unfortunately that will never happen.

My daughter always had the mobile dog wash come to her house every 6 weeks or so and the two dogs and the two cats would get a bath everytime, and the way her cats were bathed was exactly the same inside a wire cage and they were never harmed or phased by the experience. The thing I would be most worried about in this case would be the grotty salon and the smelly hydrabath.

I think it's nice to be Australianised in Christmas themes. We have basically grown up with the American christmas icons. Why not use our unique Aussie plants and animals. I did an Australian bush theme christmas on e-cards I sent to the UK to friends there.

We had this exact situation when we adopted a 7 month old Bichon Frise years ago, the owner came out to our place to check my other Bichons and was happy to let him live with us. He was also leaving a 3 month old baby girl who he adored, and whenever he heard kids he would cry and try to get out to them, his ex owner came to visit a couple of times, and each time he would think she was coming to take him home again, he eventually got over his upheaval but I would not do this to another dog, same with your dog. If you are going to rehome, it's not fair on the dog to have you coming back all the time, he would be so confused, whereas if he is just let to integrate into his new family without any distractions (you mainly) he should do fine. Poor doggie.
