Poor beautiful Winston, love to give him a big hug. Makes you wish you could do to the oxygen wasters what they have done to the animals We have more than our fair share of these sort of people up Rocky way too, I guess they are everywhere, sad part is that most of them are never caught. These trusting souls get dumped for someone else to find.

Updated: Starving Dog Left Under Tree In Rocky
Marion 01 replied to Marion 01's topic in Dog Cruelty and Abuse News
Hi frenzied 1, I have contacted the vet and the RSPCA and because it is a case pending they can't give out information, but she is still alive other than that I don't have any other details. Really didn't think she would still be here, so here is hoping her organs etc were not too damaged and she makes a full recovery. -
Photos Of Mozart My 13 Yo Bichon
Marion 01 replied to Zug Zug's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi Zug Zug glad Mozart is doing so well after his op, they are tough little treasures. We got our first bichon, Khaila, in 1988 and she lived until she was 16.1/2 we just loved the breed so much we got Candice a year later, and ended up with 4 and only lost our fourth boy, Beau, last year from a stroke at 15.1/2 years. The boy in my avatar is Floyd who we adopted when he was 7 months old. They do have a tendency towards warty type things as they get older, mine had heaps between them. Khaila had one cut from her lower eye lid, and took it all in her stride. Hope you enjoy Mozart for a long time yet. -
Hey you're on, swap you my 64 years, for yours. That is where I am lucky OH and I think, the more the merrier, well after all it's me who has done all the grooming, medicating, bathing, and managing them, so why wouldn't he go along with it.

It's funny Leelaa17, but you don't notice how many dogs are there after a while, they all got on pretty well together, all the boys were desexed after their show days were over, and we all lived happily. Head count was done when we shut the house before we went to bed, as they were so good even if they were shut out they would never let you know. It took more getting used to only having the 8 than living with all 17. 3 of mine had dementia which can be managed well, but it eventually takes it's toll on them. Would do it all over again if I was younger.

Nothing special here, just lots of experience, much more understanding of multiple dog behaviour, and never ending grooming. Also make doggie related address labels, etc I have always loved animals, and have always had multiple dogs. OH and I started showing back in 1995 with our first Tibetan Terrier, we loved them so much we thought we would get another one ( he didn't like showing) so he became a non showing family member, over the next few years we ended up with 11 TTs and only 2 liked showing. We still had our Bichons at the time and as they all got on in age, one bedroom was the geriatric ward at night time. Our medicine cabinet looked like mother hubbards cupboard compared to the dogs medicine cabinet, we only have 8 dogs left now, ranging in age from 15 years, down to 8 years. We had a bad year last year when we said goodbye to our last Bichon 15.1/2 yrs old, and 7 of our TTs (all age related) and our one and only Chinese Crested Powder Puff. Miss them dreadfully. I have done up a "Kids at Rainbow Bridge" glossy poster with them all on it and laminated it, which helps.

Just makes me sick, this poor dog was found under a tree on busy Gladstone Road in Rockhampton, so near death. It just boggles the mind that people could let a beautiful dog get to this point, and then dump it. No matter how hard we try to educate people on looking after animals, there are those who should never own a living thing. Story link: http://www.themorningbulletin.com.au/story...then-abandoned/

What I would like to know, is, if the animal is euthed before it wakes up, how does anyone know if the "operation" has been a success. A student not properly supervised could be doing something wrong during the procedure without ever knowing the consequences.

These people have got to remember that this is the dingos only home, they can't go anywhere else as they are on an island. The people keep going to this island and they know beforehand that there are dingos there, but the poor dingos end up being the bad guys because of a lack of supervision by parents. It's like swimming in the ocean and being attacked by a shark, then going out and killing the shark for attacking someone in it's own home.

OK, didn't read the facebook page, just going by the pics on the forum, but they look really good.

Judging by the colours and the shine, I would say they are made from 2mm Satin Rat Tail cord as used in jewellery. I started making some show leads (plaited) out of this and I thought it might have had a little too much stretch so didn't continue with it. They look lovely, almost like they are using a french knitting machine to weave them.

Had never heard of this person, so googled it, and came up with a youtube video of Wayne talking about the book, but also on the same site as the video was a video called "The Dark side of HSUS" Part 1, a speech given by Frank Losey about the real HSUS, scarey stuff, I haven't watched it all yet and what I have heard already makes my skin crawl.

Just looking at their photos on the family tree said it all. Yes our Royals are now venturing out and accepting non royal blood into their lines, not before time I guess.

Very interesting reading, I guess the same could apply over the generations to line bred animals, if it was done consistently, with the end of the line having similar results. We have knowledge on our side now which they didn't have way back. It was, like, keep the lines pure at all costs.

Free Running 16 Sleddogs - You Have To See It To Believe It!
Marion 01 replied to idigadog's topic in General Dog Discussion
Loved the video, the dogs are having a ball, and so well behaved. Crossing the road is made to look soooo easy. He and his dogs are lucky to have such a beautiful area like that to exercise in. Marion01 -
These gorgeous pups were dumped at a recycle station at Emu Park near Rocky. They were found in hessian bags where, if it wasn't for the contract mail lady, they would soon be dead. Would like to get hold of the asshOles who did this. They have obviously gone to the trouble of looking after them to this point, so why do the unthinkable. It beggars belief. I love Egyptian history, but not that part. Just goes to show, looks like nothing much about the human/dog/animal relationship has changed with the passage of time, seems like where ever we care to look over the centuries, animals have suffered at the hands of "humans". Thank goodness there are still those of us who would move heaven and earth for our four legged friends. Marion01

Puppy Dumped For Being Deaf Finds A Special Home
Marion 01 replied to My Dog Rosie's topic in In The News
Goes to show doesn't it, a little compassion and a whole new life has begun for this pup. I have a lot of dogs, and have watched them grow from 8 week old pups to very old age and have taught them verbal commands and also sign commands, it has come in handy as the older dogs either become blind or deaf, for them it was all part of their daily life. Dogs are smarter than we give them credit for, and I would never overlook an animal because it was not perfect. None of us are. Marion -
Yes Jed it is Jesse, he is one super cool little guy. I would say that he enjoys every minute of it. The link was sent to me by a friend and I hadn't seen it before either Henrietta. There are quite a few clips on Youtube of him doing a variety of things, top marks to his trainer. Marion01

I had two of my bitches who were incontinent, one who was spayed at 6 months and was incontinent a couple of years later, she was on Propalin, and as she aged and the incontinence became a lot worse, she was put on stilboestrol, which worked but then she started having other issues with cancerous lumps, one of which was in her rectal area, she could have been operated on, but the vet said that it would be quite possible that she would then end up being incontinent bowel wise too, as there were nerves in the anal area which could be affected, so had to make the decision to pts. My other bitch was spayed at 4 years and started with her incontinence when she was about 10 yrs old, it was not really much at first but then got worse as she aged, she was put straight onto stilboestrol, which helped. She died just recently at the vets from a ruptured splenic tumour. It also just makes you wonder if treatment in the long run creates worse problems, or if it is just co-incidence. Marion01

A good test is to sit in a car for 5 - 15 minutes on a hot day with the windows down only a fraction and see just how hot it gets and see if you could put a dog in the same situation, I doubt it. How many times have we just ducked into a shop to get a couple of things, and met someone who we hadn't seen for a while, or just been held up at the service desk. Nothing goes to plan so why chance it, it's just not worth risking a life for. Marion01

Happypaws I really feel for you, we lost quite a few of our oldies last year, we knew the time was coming for them, but it doesn't make it any easier. I have made up a memorial page of ours with pics of them on it, printed it out on glossy paper and laminated it, that way they are always there with you. I find this helps more than anything. I have also made a 2011 calendar of our Rainbow bridge kids, and it does bring comfort. Marion01

That is so nice and so true, especially for dogs who have been absolutely doted on, until a baby came into the household, and the dog never got a second glance after that and it could never understand why. Marion01
