  1. Just by looking at his pic with the toy, I'm thinking English Toy Terrier in there somewhere.
  2. This is where I am really lucky as OH is a big softy where animals are concerned, so when we added to our family it was usually a joint decision, and in some cases it was just a big surprise to him. I'm their 24/7 carer, feeder, medicator, etc. so he wouldn't dare say no anyway.
  3. We had 17 until last year, and always left them in the house, mind you we shut doors to the bedrooms, and they had the run of the house while we were out, but there were always the ones who would get stuck into things they shouldn't, and when they were younger, on the way home from where ever we had been, the conversation went something like," wonder what the darlings have wrecked for us today". It was usually just the couple of dogs who specialised in this. We just put things up that were within reach of them, or pushed things to the middle of the table so as not to tempt anyone. The TV remote was renovated once, and a plastic box of cotton tips totally splintered and cotton tips spread from A to B. Lots of other things, but thankfully as they got older they all grew out of it, now we only have 8 left and they are all fine.
  4. How's your boy today Akay ? Hope he is recovering well.
  5. Hi Akay We had one of our girls(8.1/2 yrs old - no health issues) in at the vet for a paralysis tick about a month ago, she started going in the legs, at that stage her breathing was ok, so she was given the antivenene, and put on a drip for 4 days, they wouldn't let her out of hospital until they were sure she had her gag reflex back. We were told to keep her quiet and not to get her excited as the tick poison is still in their system. We are not in a paralysis tick area, but with the massive amounts of rain we had over the past 12 months, places that have never had them before are getting them, and the vets are being inundated with animals with tick poisoning. Hope your boy is ok, and back to normal soon.
  6. Hate to tell you this but they will be back. My dogs got hold of a scrub turkey that comes up to be fed every day, and took out all his bum feathers, he went off down the paddock cracking up, didn't come up again for a couple of weeks, but he did come back, but I think is a lot more wary now.
  7. Mine have just gone over to Black Hawk and are loving it, the two who usually need a bit of coaxing are the first in line waiting now. They get supercoat sensitive in the morning, then chicken mince and blackhawk for their main meal. A couple of them had very itchy skin for a long time, but are very rarely scratching these days, so I am really pleased, and I guess so are they.
  8. Great videos. Agility at it's best. The boxer reckons he just got his butt kicked. Love the "I'm outa here" look when he sees the deer coming.
  9. Mine vote for the 14yr old TTs Hills Prescription K/Ds. Of a morning I give her some on the floor, and have to stand by and make sure she gets them. Their second choice used to be Supercoat Sensitive until the Black Hawk came along. I have tried others, as their morning treats but the dogs don't exactly rush to get them.
  10. Great idea. The dogs couldn't care less what brands they are being fed, as long as it is filling their tummys. I fed my dogs on Pedigree dry & beef many years ago before all these different brands came out, and none of them were any the worse for it, in fact they lived long lives & were healthy.
  11. Just can't think of words to say. Rip doggy, you were with people who cared at the end.
  12. Am going through this with Mindy our 12 yr old Tibetan Terrier. She has ulcers on both eyes. Tried the first lot of ointment Tricin, with not much luck, so back to the vets, this time came home with 3 different things, Caniplas, to go in eyes every hour for first 24 hrs, Conoptal Eye Gel every 4 hours, and Visco Tears Gel every 2 to 4 hours. At the moment her eyes are not looking much different than they were when she first went in for treatment. Vet wants to see her on Thursday again. Am also wondering if it is an immune thing going on, as she has skin problems mainly on her legs, where she gets this thick scaley stuff that is just like a big dry scab, but it doesn't manifest itself as sores to begin with. She has had a long course of antibiotic treatment for it and it did seem to clear it up the first time but the last course didn't seem to make much difference, so she went on a high course of prednil, which did stuff all. She has had bloods done and nothing untoward there, so have no idea what is going on with her. Wish I had a crystal ball.
  13. Rockhampton now has a Black Hawk Holistic distributor, with prices comparable to the south. Info on website www.jaqovstaffords.com Contact can be made with Ailsa on Email: [email protected]
  14. So sorry for your loss MTD Jake was a gorgeous boy. Anglo Nubians my all time favourite goats.
  15. Raineth, you can advise people until you are blue in the face, but if they won't listen, they will have to find out the hard way, which will be at the dogs expense.
  16. Why on earth do dogs eat all this stuff it's not as if it is tasty. One of my dogs loves eating cotton buds, she will eat as many as she can find, but only chews the cotton tip ends off and spits out what is left of the plastic stem.
  17. One of our dogs has been at the vets since Sunday morning with tick poisoning, hopefully she will be able to come home tomorrow, she is fine in herself, but still has no gag reflex. We don't even live in a paralysis tick area, have been here for 20 years and have only had a couple of them over the time, but I notice the horse has a few on her now, so probably with all the rain that we have had up this way this year and the growth of vegetation around the place. We have had possums here for as long as we have been here, but have more than our share of bandicoots at the moment, which are also tick carriers. Now we are paranoid looking for ticks on all the other dogs.
  18. Well done Wilbur, what a smart little fella you are, and cute.
  19. Simple but so very true, from a dog's point of view. Yes humans have got sooooooo much to answer for. Would be good as a car sticker, that way it would get seen by many.
  20. This is a good example of a zoomie in action even though it's a still pic.
  21. Phew!!! Great news, I had knots in my stomach every time if checked in to see if they had been found yet, and wondering what the poor doggies and owners were going through. Fantastic work by all involved.
  22. Bummer !! I was hoping he wouldn't be able to get the money to get Rocky out. I really don't think Rocky is in for a good life somehow, poor little buggar.
  23. I can see where you are coming from Andisa. I have been grooming/clipping my own dogs (17 in all up until 2010) since 1988, everyone of them have been brought up to lie down on the grooming table (from the time I bought them home at 8 weeks old, just a few minutes every day )which makes it so easy for me, if dogs haven't been taught that, it is very hard to control them, and not pleasant for groomer or dog. One of my dogs who I got at 4 yrs old was never taught to lie on a grooming table, she is now 15 and is getting to the dementia stage, and it needs hubby to help with her when I clip as she fights all the way. I always leave her until last. Have often been asked to groom/clip other peoples dogs, naah sorry.
  24. Love the video. Jack reckons "leave me alone, I'm buggared"
