Is this hypothetical or is there a document that exist in relation to this?

I used Wedt Ryde Vets and found them great.

Powerlegs, check your messages. Nic, you have the system disabled???

Steve, is the cat used to be only inside? I may know if someone who might be in the position to offer care. They have no dogs or cats. Can you email me more detail or call me when you get the chance to discuss.

I offered advice and support and regularly took on private surrenders, even from breeders, when I ran my rescue. If done with care and under guidelines, rehoming dogs does no harm. I can understand though that this kind of service can be abused by those who are just irresponsible. However, irresponsible people will still 'get rid of' their dogs and usually in a manner that puts the dog at risk. They are far better off being in the care of someone who understands and follows safe and responsible rehoming practices. I didn't charge any fees to surrender a dog either.

Rubbish. He didn't give birth to the dog. The majority of dogs cope just fine being rehomed. +1 + 2 I also agree with the advice given above about doing it sooner rather than later so you can be around. Seek the advice from an experienced rescue person about what to look out for when re-homing. Pros, cons and dangers to avoid. Good luck.

I can understand the reaction by Needy Paws. Why did the question necessarily need to be asked here? I think we all need to stop and think sometimes. Needy Paws, I'd quit with the 'legal advice' line because anyone who knows anything knows that to try and claim defamation or similar is impossible unless you have a) unlimited amounts of money and b) can prove that the comments caused undue harm. Apart from a website I was viewing recently, I am yet to see one example of defamation that could be worthy of taking on, and that includes ludicrous claims aimed at me over the years.

Abandoned House, Cats And Kittens Inside

I just think it odd that he can open a locked door for you though???? Good to hear they'll be collected tomorrow though. Let's hope they'll be ok until then. -

Why won't the agent go inside? If the tenancy contract has been broken through abandonment ( and I assume failure to pay rent) why can't he access the property? -
Do You Refer To Yourself As Your Dog's Mum/dad?
~Anne~ replied to RubyStar's topic in General Dog Discussion
No. They're dogs, not my children. -
He's so tiny. Poor little sausage. I hope whatever is wrong they can fix simply and easily without him experiencing too much pain.

I was buying mine through a butcher in Granville. Halal butchers all sell goat meat. There are also several in Seven Hills and Pendle Hill that sell it I believe. I was paying $8/kilo though for diced meat but if you were buying bulk, they may do you a better deal??

I Need Some Suggestions.

Could you piggy back on a rescue coming up towards Sydney and then further north? *fingers crossed* -

Lucky you! I know there are retiree associations dedicated to volunteering in all manner of industries and ways and I've worked before with a group of retirees who were available for mentoring. My MIL is a member of a local group where we live who volunteer at the local community centre. There may be groups in Western Sydney who could assist. Perhaps contacting community centres in Blacktoen LGA might unearth such a resource?? -

Is it possible to tap into a retirees network for this kind of volunteer work? -
I can so relate to this comment. My last home was a townhouse, that had other townhouse blocks as neighbours, and each is Torrens titled meaning that everyone was free to own dogs. One neighbour had a yappy Maltese that as left outside 24/7 and it yapped a lot at night. What amazed me more was that the owners were home most often when the dog yapped and never, ever once did I hear them command the dog to be silent!

Cornell, I've been a member of the epil k9 list for many years. I agree that it is good as it shows a wide variety of dogs and seizures as no 2 epileptics are the same. My only negative comment I could make about the site is that it is US based and they use a different drug regime to us in general and some of the advice offered by members conflicts with what the professionals advise in Australia. However, it is a fabulous resource of information on canine epilepsy overall.

Thanks for clarifying. Your post above is spot on in all respects imo. :)

Sandgrubber - I disagree with the tests being expensive and or unnecessary. The only way to actually diagnose epilepsy is to rule out all other causes of the seizures. Any Vet with even the most minimal of knowledge would not start ordering expensive tests such as MRIs after only one or 2 seizures. However, they would be bordering on negligence if they did not at least conduct some more basic tests that would rule out some ther common causes of seizures. Not all seizure activity is due to epilepsy and so medicating a dog with pheno when it is suffering from some kind of disease, injury or toxin reaction would be stupid. The tests conducted would rule out some of these conditions first. Epilepsy is a condition that can be managed with medication with varying degrees of success. My boy Monte is still having seizures and always has despite being medicated. He will turn 10 in April and was diagnosed at 18mths. He is on several drugs. He is not very well at the moment and I fear he may be nearing his time. Until now though he has lived a happy and fulfilled life.

I agree. I know it's not a popular thought and the whole 'all dog have teeth' thing always gets brought up - but realistically a small dog is more easily managed and the damage is less. Exactly and it was this line of thought, along with many other onsiderations, that went into my decision when weighing up the possibilities and future of the little Pug.

It’s interesting reading the various opinions in this thread. I can recall a debate I have had in the past about a little Pug that I re-homed that was dog aggressive (yes, it seems it can occur on the occasion in the breed) and I was told I should have euthanased her. I am not sure anyone can make a reasonable judgement on such scant information that was given here and we all hold our own opinions on what is right and wrong when it comes to aggression in dogs. I maintain that size, breed and circumstance play a huge role and there is no 'one rule fits all' in these debates.

I chose 'other' as they are not loose in the house but they do have access inside and they have access outside. They come and go as they choose through a dog door but I have a portable fence that contains them to an area and stops them from roaming through the house. The fence is also put up at night for them to sleep. As for crating, I don't agree with it even for evenings. Dogs were not meant to be caged and I believe there is a gradual increase in the acceptance of crating dogs for long periods of time which is not a good thing. If you have to regularly and repeatedly contain a dog, why not contain it to an area that it is still able to walk around, like a room? Crating a dog to recover from an injury or for other short term and specific purposes however is acceptable in my opinion.

How funny.

You said raw meat which to many may mean mince or meat only. What's the wink for?

My dogs get an egg or two per week. I crack them into the bowl and the whole lot is eaten. No preparation and the whole lot is finished very quickly. (I am also very popular during baking as the dogs get the shells then too and I have 6 waiting pleading for a bit of shell!!) It is the ratio with phosphorus that is important, but I aim for a balance over a week or two, rather than trying to balance each and every meal and if you feed raw meat you should be fine. You certainly won't go wrong with an occasional egg. Just remember if you feed the insides of the egg to feed the whole egg not just the yolk. The body is pretty good at regulating slight irregularities, particularly with how much they will absorb from food :) If you feed raw meat without bone, then you will need the added calcium as the calcium/phosperous ratio will be out. Washing doesn't dry them out. Th easiest way is to place the egg shells in the microwave until they become brittle, then you grind them into a powder with a mortar and pestle. It takes a few minutes and you end up with a very concentrated calcium supplement.
