  1. Again I'll say; wouldn't a call to AHF answer the question about why the dog was still there?
  2. Wouldn't a call to the AHF answer the question about why the dog is still there?
  3. I'm not sure if this question has been asked, and apologies if this is a stupid one, but if a dog produces white puppies do they stop breeding that dog? I mean, is it a gene that is carried and is it as simple as not breeding the dogs that produce white puppies?
  4. Great news it wasn't anything bad. How old is Oscar now? If Boof develops more lumps I will also have to consider more surgery or not. His poor legs have been cut up so much removing them. I will consider it if it occurs though and take into account his age and prognosis at the time.
  5. I would also opt to remove the eye. I know many pugs with eyes removed, including a couple I rescued, and they all survive well with one eye.
  6. Agree about the wider doorway. I could hardly get through the door with a washing basket in my hand when we had the pig in mud. We ended up replacing the doors and had a complete new one put in with a fixed panel up one end with the dog door in it and I gave the pig in mud to my mother in law. Aside from the size factor of the opening, they are a great idea.
  7. Oh, and I have to vent.... why do dogs have find the exact blade of grass/spot on the tree to toilet and why do males persist in cocking! It takes FOREVER for him to go to the toilet and we go through this 3 - 4 times a day. Sometimes it can take up to 30minutes of aimlessly wandering back and forth. *sigh*
  8. Did anyone's dog experience a change in their voice? Monte has always been known for squealing like a pig for food and crying very loudly. Now he can only make these strange low sounds. He sounds similar to really old dogs sound who have barked a lot where the bark becomes raspy. In some ways it is good as when he wakes at 4.30am crying for breakfast it will be less annoying to the neighbours and the rest of the household but he also sounds like someone else's dog!
  9. Thanks everyone. I'm understandably rapt! Now I've just got to get Monte better and hope that Olivia stays nice and healthy.
  10. We've got clear margins, and nodes, on Boof! I am sooooooo relieved.
  11. perhaps start a thread in the training forums.
  12. I think you just wrote the solution didn't you? Move her back out of the laundry. For whatever reason she doesn't seem to like it perhaps?
  13. Thats sucky.....any idea on when they are likely to come through? How are Boof and Monte doing? They expected them Thursday or Friday at the latest. I saw the vet again yesterday just to have the swelling checked and he said something about them having probs with the lab lately and it was like they were in holiday mode. We go the first results within a few says and there was New Year's Day in between. They're both doing well. The swelling is something to do with the return of fluid/blood back up the leg as it is being pumped around. He did say what it was called but it went in one ear and kept travelling..... On Thursday night I spoke to him on the phone and he suggested applying a pressure bandage, which I did, and it has almost fixed it for the mean while. I just have to wap his leg again if it happens again. Aside from that he is doing fabulously well. Monte is improving I am pleased to say. He even licked my face this morning and wagged his little curl a fraction. No more seizures overnight either which is a relief. I think my boy is going to be ok. I have my fingers crossed that my other boy will be too! Meanwhile, my only girl, the hilarious nutcase otherwise known as Olivia is not liking that the boys are getting all the attention.
  14. Still not path results for Boof which is frustrating.
  15. How awful for you. I had read that humans get it too. I hope you can find some relief soon. Espinay2 - thanks. Monte has not had a lot of vomiting. In fact, he has only vomited once and that was because he drank some water to quickly I think. Maybe not though? He is eating well, just a little messier, and he is still eating his normal food. Unfortunately his epilepsy complicates it all. He had another seizure last night. I hope that was the last of them and I hope that the increase in his seizure a to its and the vestibular isn't a sign of someone more sinister. I spoke with his neurologist yesterday and she is a little concerned also. However, she said the most likely thing is that it is vestibular. He is now 11 years old so he is in the age bracket for the geriatric vestibular type. Thank you again everyone for your comments. I have experience a great manner of illnesses and conditions in dogs, particularly after having the rescue, but is one was a new experience.... and not want I am hoping to repeat!
  16. Stemetil would have been for the nausea. Do you know what drug he gave for the balance issue?
  17. In my experience, dogs do not like pugs due to the breathing noise sometimes but moreso because pugs have little understanding or reaction of body language. Most pugs will not go into a defensive mode with a dog who is exhibiting warning signs that they do not like the pug being 'in their face'. Pugs often are 'in your face' with other dogs. Pugs seem oblivious. This is all purely from my observations and experience however. Edited to add: perhaps Roxy exhibits similar ignorance?
  18. Thanks everyone. Cowanbree, the toilet thing problem sorted itself somewhat when he had 5 seizures last night and urinated with each one. He's an epileptic so it complicates things even more. He had a bad night with panting too but I think that is because he is so stressed. This morning he is able to walk a little but he tumbles all the time and his head tilt is pretty severe. His eyes are still flicking up and down and side to side too. He's eating well which is great although he does make a bit of a mess. 4kelpies - the towel idea was very clever. I thought of a similar thing and I have put his harness and lead on and I hold him by that. It doesn't stop him spinning though which a towel might be better for. Tigerjack, that must have been awful and scary too. The thought has crossed my mind that Monte's condition might be more too given his epilepsy.
  19. It seems we might have a diagnosis for Monte. See here; http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/245338-vestibular-disease/ On the plus side, aside still from some swelling, Boof is going fabulously well.
  20. Thanks. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. How do you toilet them? I've carried him out several times but he is getting worse and can barely stand let alone wee. Besides, he isn't used to having me hold him while he wees. Being a pug, he can still eat. He is eating well but not really drinking. He drank this morning when I gave him some pet milk, as I do most mornings.
  21. My boy has been experiencing vestibular symptoms. They're awful and he is stressed and so am I. I'd love to hear your experiences with this condition. Please.
  22. Great pic Ripley. Tintin, the photo of your daughter is fabulous. You can almost feel her personality come through!
  23. Thanks for the lesson in spelling.... and rudeness.
