  1. Wow! what a haul, Pap! I didn't take any samples. I sadly don't have any dogs now, but it was great to see so many do distributors prepared to offer samples to everyone.
  2. I must have missed thisi one?? Where was it in relation to our stand?
  3. Bummed I missed you Kat. I should have logged into to DOL to see who was going but didn't think of it! I did catch up with Mon though and few others. Lol - Sue's a devil. Don't forget to enough everyone to create their profile on the registry. It's going to make a huge difference to the accuracy of the database and, how fabulous just you can now pay registrations online!
  4. The Bill goes to Cabinet today. It is expected it will pass through Cabinet and be supported (or so the media say). I think most people, unless they're racing greyhounds, are worrying over unnecessarily.
  5. It's not the report that will decide anything, anyway. It's the Bill, which is due to be discussed at Cabinet this week.
  6. Ive owned and loved a lot of pugs. I gave mine bones, but only bones that were too big to fit into their mouths. The loved chewing them and spent hours doing just this, but they never 'ate' them. I wouldn't trust a pug with a bone that it could actually eat because, as stated above, they will and do choke on them. It's important that you still encourage chewing bones though. It's actually good for them and they love the marrow. Just don't give them small bones or bones with small knuckles on them. Think shank bones. I used to get the butcher to cut a large shank into three pieces. And don't get into the habit of giving your puppy treats. Pugs are prone to obesity and it doesn't help their breathing or health overall. Keep them slim and happy.
  7. Has everyone managed to claim their pets now? Anyone else have trouble getting on and registering?
  8. I have a feeling it must also go by name, which would explain why I can't find my cat. She's technically registered in my mum's name even though we live in the same house so even though it asks only for microchip and phone numbers, it must cross reference all other info too. I'm going to go sign mum up and see if I can find the cat that way. Correct. If she's registered in your mum's name, you'll need to get mum to add her profile and then transfer the cat to you.
  9. Contact council. They'll have to update the old register.
  10. Yes. You need to update your existing records with council to show your updated name. I had the correct chip number, correct telephone spaces but my dogs chip details were recorded as my name and then in brackets c/o pug rescue Sydney so it couldn't match me to that record.
  11. There seems to be some switchover problems related to data recognition. As Riverstar said, spaces in phone numbers are important, and as in my example, there was additional info in the old registry that was attached to my name so it couldn't match what I was in putting.
  12. Same problem they keep telling me that my dogs dont exist. Ive got a litter of puppies papers here that went home last week and I was hoping I could just notify change of ownership Ive received notice from council that they are in the system but the Pet registry says no such animal. I just signed up and worked out that YES. Phone format DOES MATTER. One of my dogs, the phone number is xxxxxxxxxx The other two after being "not found" have been input as xxxx xxx xxx Still can't find my cat though after trying all number combinations possible. She was registered in 2003 though. Edit: if you still have your pet's council registry certificate like I do, it's easy to check what format your phone number is in from that. Ive got the forms in my hand so being careful how they are being put in - still nothing I had problems too. It turns out that my name on the form said Anne xxxxx (c/o Pug Rescue Sydney). Once I had the old data updated and they removed the reference to pug rescue Sydney it worked.
  13. Yes I went in had a look and sent out word last week to our members to let them know. I registered but seems there is some issues with registering so cant get in. I'd try again now. You should be ok getting in.
  14. Offical launch will be at the Pet Lovers Dog Show, Kat. It's at the Hordern Pavillion on Sat-Sun 6-7 August. I notice there are a few rescues with stands there too. Not many breeders, but a few. Would have loved to have seen more on the list.

  16. No. There are auto security checks when you create your profile ie you have to provide drivers licence details which are checked against the system. It does mean, however, that you can update your contact details yourself. A big plus for pet owners when they move.
  17. Has anyone checked out the new online pet registry?
  18. Not sure that helps because around here vets dont belong to the AVA Sorry, I meant VPB. I would say it increases at a reasonably significant rate. 2010 vets registered in NSW was 2447 2014 was 2834 2015 was 2998 That's around 100 plus a year increase. Cant really see that this is proof of pet population falling. I didn't say it was proof of pet populations falling and I said registered clinics, not vets. The statement you made was about increasing numbers of clinics as being supportive of pet populations potentially increasing, one assumes. Besides, an increase in registered vets could mean a big intake of university students 5-6 years prior. Reading the VPB for the 2014-2015 fin year there were: 261 new registrations; 75 restorations; 298 removals and 6 deaths. It proves nothing overall though about pet populations. I was offering comment about your perception of the increasing number of clinics. When I said it wasn't significant, I am referring to the growth in human population as a comparison. It is also noticeable that the growth in companion animal ownership is much slower in comparison to human population growth.

  20. The AVA keeps stats of registered clinics. It's increasing but not at any significant rate. i haven't compared but the rate doesn't seem to match human population growth rates.
