It could be demodectic mites ie mange. I would have him back to the Vet for a scraping to confirm. Once demodex takes hold, it spreads rather quickly and can be very difficult to bring back under control.

The blood could be something as simple as a UTI or it may be something more sinister. The most common cause is infection though. Whatever you end up using for the sample, ensure it is clean.

Yawning, in a physiological sense, is to increase oxygen to the brain (or so I believe). Therefore, it would happen in situations where the dog is shallow breathing. This is why you yawn when tired I am also lead to believe. Your breathing slows and becomes shallow when you are tired and your body, in an effort to boost oxygen, yawns. Going by this explanation, I would think that the dog was shallow breathing. The reason for this is not in my expertise. However, I would possibly think that it may be due to a prey drive scenario or simply that they are tired, calm or nervous all of which causes shallow breathing. That's my take on it anyway.

Breeders' Conditions When Selling A Puppy
~Anne~ replied to Zug Zug's topic in General Dog Discussion
There are zealouts in every area of life. Dog breeding is simply just another area. I would not purchase from a breeder like which you have described, because to me, that kind of blinkered and 1 dimensional view surely must also spill over into their breeding program. A balanced view, and thorough knowledge, is what I would be looking for in a breeder. There are loads of sane breeders out there, I'd keep looking until one is found. -
We've had a few deaf and near deaf Pugs through. Mostly they followed the cues of the other dogs and I find that a deaf dog in a pack bodes well and is probably healthier for them then being on their own. We've always used touch and, because Pugs have crappy vision at a distance, clear wide arm/hand movements.

Hang in there Jed. If the "power of the people" is any consolation, we're all there behind you. -
Really guys, I am not sure if this is the appropriate thread to get into yet another RSPCA discussion.

Has anyone heard how Jane is today? Is there anything in the house salvageable or is it all gone? -
Interesting.

There is a new update in the thread in the News section. -
not if you have a clause 16d. look into it, it helps... The 16D doesn't neccessarily help any one. The dog is open for tender first. This means that people are bidding on dogs, desexed and undessexed and what isn't tendered on, can then be rescued. Having an exemption clause means nothing in regard to the current tender system. BMP - I am confused as to why you think rescues need to bid? I think part of the issue is that rescues like to be given first 'dibs' on dogs in pounds (beofre the general public). I know I do. However, that isn't the way the majority operate, and in fact, it is the other way round. The public are offered the chance to purchase first and then rescues pick up those at risk of euth due to not being sold and their time limit running out. At least, that's the way I see it.

Poor pooch. I hope he is ok. I might be wrong, but isn't there some part in the legislation that deals with menacing dogs through fences and gates??? If I were the people with the people who owned the Poodle x, I'd be calling Council and asking what advice they could offer on the situation. It may cause the owners of the SHepherd to sit up, take notice and do something about the situation before it leads to disaster.

Wha? An injection for worms?? I think the owners or whomever is giving you the info is really confusing a lot of things. When you say he is 'attacking' people who approach him while he is rubbing his bottom, is he literally being aggressive or is he just indicating he is enjoying the sensation and his senses are alert/high and he doesn't want them to stop it? Is there any chance the owners are over dramatising his behaviour?? When dogs scratch an itch, they commonly 'flea bite' at the same time.

So none of them made it out alive? (except a few of the babies) In the footage of the pups, the white one was breathing a little hard too. Are they ok? This just keeps getting worse. How absolutely awful. -

Ive got the easy bit - Im down south and co ordinating it all but Lesley and Marg had a hard day yesterday picking up the bodies and the survivors. Both will have their hands full ensuring the ones they have taken home will be comfortable and looked after as Jed would want them to be. 2 more bodies were found later in the day after Marg and Lesley had left and removed the bodies they found out - The two adult boxers who were found under Jed's bed so their bodies have been recovered and will be buried as well. So sad. Those poor dogs. Lesley and Marg must also be feeling this all quite strongly. So, so sad. I am not often moved to watery eyes but the sense of loss and horror is so overwhelming. I can't imagine what those close to Jed and the dogs are feeling. -
We purchased one from Bunnings and intalled it in a solid core door. They come complete amd are very, very simple to install. A bit of cutting, a few screws and you're don. They come with templates for the cutting too.

I'm sure you're right. I hope... Jed will tell you I think I am always right...but she won't tell you that half the time I actually am. I am sure Steve would update if there was bad news. There are too many people wishing Jed well and sending their vibes and thoughts, for any more bad to happen.
