Cooking Barf Patties?

Ok thanks Jules, I'll look into these. Are they the sort of thing that's firm enough to be cut into cubes? -
Cooking Barf Patties?

Yup I've baked up lambs liver, heart and ox tongue which work well, but as he's only a small dog too much of this gives him loose poop. Before starting some training with him next week I've been asked to pretty much give him all his food in the way of rewards for good behaviour, really trying to work on his focus on me, hence looking for a way to get his meals into 'treat form'. I would no way feed him anything that could do him harm, but having run my fingers through the barf pattie (nice! :D ) I honestly feel nothing that could be bony shards  The only hard stuff in there is rounded and about the size of half a pea. The ingredients contain finely ground chicken bone - the issue with cooked bones is surely the splintering resulting from cooking. I didn't think finely ground bone cooked in with meat would cause any damage Please correct me if I'm wrong -
Glad to hear Varda is better now - no more eating rocks missy Well I'll be off to K9 now on as well I'll see how it goes with the drive, but would rather do something week nights than weekend. I'll maybe see some of you there next monday

I did wonder about the bone content, but when I feed them raw they are just mush, no visible bone content that I can see, so figured if it's ground bone it would be ok  -
Louis is raw fed, but I need to try and spread his food throughout the day in the form of treats for training. As this isn't really doable with raw meaty bones, I wondered if I could cook barf patties and then cut them up in to small portions.....I think it will go like a meatloaf if cooked  I know this isn't raw, and it wouldn't be a long term solution, but can anyone see any major problems with cooking the patties before feeding?

Cheers, I've just left a voice mail on their phone and sounds like the new 10wk course started last week - bummer I'll send her a pm though and explain Louis's quirks Thanks VCBR, He's doing well in a group of about 10 dogs now at 'Reactive Rover', so I'm looking to get him a bit more exposed to more dogs - so long as they are under control I did some very basic classes with him back in Scotland and he was fine in a controlled class situation.

Thanks RS, a week night class is more appealing than losing half a weekend day for dog training....in my OH's eyes anyway I think I'll email them and see if they think Louis can attend. He's ok as long as all other dogs are under control and don't come bouncing up into his face.

How long do you think it would take to get to K9 from Cottesloe? When I came down to the show before it was from the other side of Perth. Google maps tells me 57mins, but can't believe it would take that long Do they do basic obedience classes there, anything that would be suitable for Louis? or is it just somewhere you go to train your own dog and they don't really have formal classes?

We were put onto it by a vet in the UK after drontal causing problems, it's quite widely used over there I'm happy to know I can treat heart worm with a product they are all used to Thanks everyone

Well done Tiggy Cool may see you guys there then Not sure what class I'll be in - whichever one caters for the 'not really sure how old he is and very poorly socialised, screwed up rescue dog'

Louis decided to help me make the bed by lounging in the sun spot This expression sums up his feelings on the camera

I have always used Milbemax on the cats and dogs back in the UK for intestinal worming, as Drontal usually caused vomiting My new vets here don't stock it, but they are getting some in for me. The receptionist who ordered it for me thought it only did intestinal worms, so I was going to get something different for heartworm.....However looking around on the web seems to indicate Milbemax is a heartworm preventative as well Does anyone use Milbemax for heartworm control? Cheers

Brilliant! Looks like you had a great time I'll go for a round 10 Hope all goes well for her Shimi is just adorable, good luck sleeping over the next week Tiggy Took Louis off to his Reactive Rover class yesterday where he did very well. It's nice to see him relaxed and comfortable around other dogs there. I think I'm going to take him along to the Northern Suburbs classes on Sundays as well, as he needs more regular exposure to other dogs in a controlled environment - which I'm hoping obedience training will be
