With my 1.4 I find it a bit soft wide open, if I drop it down just one stop it's so much sharper. And also after the max aperture of about 5 on the kit lenses, you have to get used to playing with a really shallow depth of field on the 50mm. Have fun with it, I look forward to seeing some photos

Yup me And to top it off I've buggered up my neck again and have to have a heat wrap on it - I can't drink enough to replace the sweat loss from my head at the moment The dogs are just crashed on the sofa - splayed out like frogs :D

What about a 60mm Macro, would it cover both aspects for you? "Unique new high-speed F2 1:1 Macro with classic portrait potential" http://www.tamron.com/en/photolens/di_II_macro/g005.html I got one last week and have been very pleased with it so far. A range of shots with it.

Wow, that was amazing - thanks for the link Ah good, I thought I was being extra sappy for a moment And all I can say is I'm glad my two have no comprehension of digging Now if I had brought my cocker and grey over with me as well, then it would be a different story ;) They loved 'helping' me garden

lol, must have been the same lovely helpful man I spoke to Yup I understand they have a business to run too and it must be very hard trying to compete with overseas retailers. Good luck I hope you get what you want at a decent price -
Grey Imports And Paying Duty

From what I've read DWI usually make 'mistakes' on their invoices on the package Then email you the rectified one later Did you get my pm re Sigma warranties for grey imports? C.R. Kennedy, the only authorised Sigma agent in Australia, will not cover warranty on Sigma products bought through www.camerasdirect.com.au I assume other 'grey imports' as well. They did offer to price match DWI for me and with a 2 year Australian warranty. -
Tis The Season For New Lenses
CrazyCresties replied to CrazyCresties's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Thanks Bellatrix and kittikat09 ;) Cheers ;) I'm so used to having only the kit zoom lenses, that I keep trying to zoom it before realizing I have to move myself But also I'm used to having the kit lenses on max aperture most of the time, so getting the hang of aperture control is the steepest learning curve at the moment. I was a bit disappointed with the softness of my first shots of Louis, but that's cause I had it on f1.4. Once I stopped it down a bit with the Sibe, they came out nice and sharp :D Also my poor little 350D has a fastest shutter speed of 4000 - not fast enough if you have it wide open in the bright sunshine -
I don't know about a roo dog, but in this pic her back legs and tail look just like a roo She is gorgeous and I look forward to seeing her develop
