  3. thanks so much :p yes i am thinking this pup is the same lol..he walks around sniffing the ground ..BUT he has only been here for a day so prob just getting used to the area :p
  4. Good morning everyone!! We had a fantastic first day yesterday - Christian AKA Ollie(Oliver) as my son calls him, is settling in really well, my hubby went shopping with him yesterday for some things, he has really taken to my hubby! He is such a well behaved, gentle boy, he is extremely well toilet trained. we go outside to the same spot and i say "toilet now" and he does it :p no accidents so far, no barking , no pinning . And he greeted me this morning so lovingly running around in circles wagging his tail - its as if he has been here forever I am so happy with him, and everyone else incl cat seem to be ok. He only chases lucycat when she runs away, otherwise they are not bothered by each other. Looks like he was exactly what i was looking for in a dog (he even growled when we walked past the house i dont like the look of hmmmm and we were on the other side of the road) now i have to make him a snood so his ears dont get in his food. Talk to you all soon xx
  5. hmmm Well hopefully the person in question finds an answer to their problem, atleast they are looking to the future and finding out about putting her dog in a kennel now, I am sure something will come up
  6. how odd...thats exactly what i was thinking..maybe she wants to breed OR maybe this is a way for her to get talking to you and work out how she would go about breeding her dog??? I dont think a bording kennel would refuse her :S unless the kennel itself is worried that she may get pregnant BUT if she isnt intending to breed. why not have her desexed??
  7. oh dont worry i so will!! maybe i should change this thread to...finally found the one I like the name Christian too otherwise i wouldnt have called my son that...i do like giacomo though but i wont start calling him by a different name until the month is up .
  8. ;) Just dropping in...On Sunday our one month trial begins thanks for all the advice, well wishes etc etc
  9. When do you think you will hear back with the answer???? I really dont know but i will try not to get my hopes up just incase we arent suitable...and my son asked when they left if he could keep the dog because he loved him a million times lol I have no idea on names..i am on google now looking at ideas hehe better go cook dinner...i will speak to you all soon
  10. You should have seen My Son's face (Christian) when he was walking Christian (dog) melt your heart moment it was very confusing with the names though lol
  11. BOOOOOOO The wait is over!! i am here ... The kids got on lovely with Christian !! Now i just have too wait and hear if we are ok to have him on a 1 month trial. And his lil 12 week old sister came for a visit too..my kids were terrified!! but with Christian even my 1 year old didnt flinch or anything, so glad i decided to go with an older pup...that was my gut feeling from the start.
  12. What a perfect little dog He has the calmest temperament, so quiet and well behaved. He is coming to visit my kids here tomorrow, so once again fingers cross that they will be ok with a dog around here...thats really what it comes down to, i hope they are ready for a doggy. And if they are not, I have choosen my breeder - what a lovely person she is!! ;) Time will tell what the future holds for our family...
  13. Thanks italmum Not sure what will happen, if he does it again? hopefully they will be supervising the kid and the Cav a bit more closely from now on.. When is it you are meeting Christian ? :D i am meeting him tomorrow after the kids have scoffed down easter eggs....i will escape and leave daddy to deal with the sugar high they will go nuts......i only feed my kids organic..natural no preservative food...i notice the change in their behaviour if they have chocky, juice, cordial (some varieties) chips etc...so i am a lil scared Well my baby making days are over, so hopefully i wont encounter too much jealousy but..you really never can trust kids with dogs and vice versa!! hopefully he wont be leaving the family or anything oh and CLOCKS BACK ONE HOUR TONIGHT PPL
  14. Its a very difficult situation, introducing new baby with a pet - you can see how they would feel left out and put to the side ..i hope everything gets better for your friends family x And Cavnrott, i have just messaged you...i thought i had replied SORRY
  15. hehehe i know..i am looking forward to it...i have to go to the inlaws for easter lunch...atleast i will have had a great start to the day ;) :p followed by my inaugural easter egg hunt at the grandfolks in the evening!!! woot i love easter!! BUONA PASQUA E TUTTI!!!! i shall let you all know how i go tomorrow
  16. yay thats great news!!! Good to see your ruby is doing better....and even more surprised that a council didnt knock something back for a change
  17. Hmmm, I am thinking why tell them you have kids if it's held against you???. Because its honest and its the right thing to do?! I would think being honest would be rather crucial in developing a relationship with a breeder that you are hoping will trust you enough to place on of their babies in your home. Good luck with Christian Italmum ;) well said Lic82 and Thanks
  18. Hello Again, My god has this discussion gone out of hand HAHA I am going by myself on sunday morning, The breeder can get to know me and i can assess Christian on my own , then if we both agree on monday he will be bought to our house to be introduced to the children. I think this is a great way of doing it, then i can see how he is without being over stimulated by the kids. as the breeder said, we are all learning...he hasnt had child interaction, and my kids have never had a dog before.
  19. I don't see how age will make Christian suitable or unsuitable. It will be his temperament that will be suitable or not. You know his age now, so if you think his age doesn't suit you, let the breeder know now so she can sell him to somebody who is happy to adopt a mature dog. If he does not have a suitable temperament, that has nothing to do with whether another adult dog or even a pup might be suitable or not. You will be none the wiser. Either you want a mature dog or a pup, or maybe you don't mind which. But if Christian isn't suitable that doesn't mean another dog of the same age won't be. yes i know that. I have actually been speaking to my partner tonight and there are plus's for younger and older....older the temperament is atleast more developed, and young pup...you get to help shape the dog they will become. My thing is with older dogs unless you are told you dont know the way they are bought up..with puppys you start hopefully with a clean slate, where you can help the dog grow I to be honest am pretty open to age, christian is only 9 months old so he is still a puppy I just personally thought that an older dog would have been the best thing for me...other ppls posts have made me see both sides, and just like myself...i cant judge a dog on its age, i need to meet them and the breeder
  20. The breeder i am meeting with, if we infact choose a dog lives in gippsland (meeting her at the show though)...thats no where near where i am - and hasnt stopped me calling her, I have been looking for a while before i posted my question to everyone on DOL. So infact it hasnt just been a couple of days.... I am not ruling out the breeder that has a 5 month old that lives far away...the dog may well be gone by the time i get to see him. And as i have written..my whole point of writing this on the forum was to allow the discussion of my situation, and what age dog would be best for small children - and if anyone else has experienced the same negativity AND what they recommend i do. If "christian" the dog is not suitable because of his age, atleast i have taken the time out of my easter break to see if an older dog still is the best option, or we may then decide to get a puppy later on - i do like the breeder herself, so that makes getting a dog from her even if its in the future very appealing. Going to the show at kcc was my idea, i intend to see what dogs breeders are breeding, meet with the breeders and work up a relationship from there, i do not need a dog tomorrow - but i am not passing up the oppertunity because he may well be what i am looking for
  21. Chocolate lover, i have had "not a fair go" as far as my experiences with trying to find a pup so far, I am hopeful with the dog i am looking at, if he is not the right one, i will just put my name down with the breeder for the next litter. But atleast she will know what type of person i am AND meet my children
  22. so angry!! you should seriously type out a petition letter so that we febble minded DOLers can print it out , sign it and send it to them :D
  23. Glad to hear of your new addition, hope all works out well for you. :D oohh he's not mine yet, but fingers crossed!
  24. Well i found out i was pregnant the day he was dumped! So being a first time mum, even though we liked the dog - i thought it would be better if he went to another home. well if i had of known what i know now..i would have kept him :D
  25. Oh you won't be getting a break from your DH's snoring once you get a Cav ! You know i completely forgot they made snorty sounds hahahaha The cav i had for a lil bit (was dumped here and i re-homed him) was so cute he used to see me go to the patio and come trumpeting (def not lightfooted) and wag his tail snorting his lil head off...made me smile
