I entered the challenges for the first time in March. I am a complete novice with my first DSLR. I was not sure if I could do this so i went on a photo shooting mission to get pics, so here goes. Is this correct????

Vets who take xrays are not always qualified to read them. Some of them would like to make out they are
Wyburn is a reader and specialist in his field so its a good idea to wait till you get the results of the reading.
Interesting that your vet is going on about Penn Hip etc. Read interesting information on this by Dr. Wyburn that was presented the the German Shepherd Dog Council AGM and he was certainly not supporting the Penn Hip Scheme.

You could buy a pretty sophisticated photocopier for that sor of money and it cost no where near that in maintainance

Same here.I closely observe what the mum does with the first pup. If she's slow or looks as though she's going to chomp the cord too close then I will take over for all pups.If she's doing a good job and the pups are strong, the only thing I will do is remove the sack from the pup's face. I've only ever had to tie off two cords caused by overzealous mothers.
I let them eat the first 2 or three placentas as they help to stimulate more contractions and bring in richer milk for pups in those vital first hours. I sometimes let mum eat a couple more if she's calm but has had a bit of a break in the whelping.

Caution might be best

Its not just in Victoria either. We have had it happen to us here. Our trailer cables/wires were cut and in our case all electric brakes we had no lights, no brakes and 250 klms from home at 7 pm.
We now check everything before we leave every show, these stupid people think things like this are funny but in actual fact these silly acts are the very things that can cause accidents that can kill.
