  1. I have registered so am eagerly awaiting the Box to arrive. I to thought of wily coyote when I heard the sound

Did others get the email with the 10% off Canon Lenses Voucher? I used mine today to get a 50mm 1.4

Congratulations looking forward to the photos.

I registered as well. Wily coyote for sure the only thing missing is the k-plunk thud at the end

  2. I remember reading someone having a problem with a lens and the problems in sending to be fixed it said they eventually sent it to their closest Canon repair centre via registered post

I just laybyed my lens and it was $599.00 I was not brave enough to go with the overseas one

  3. I didn't enter Hobart Royal this year and one reason was because our breed was on People's day and I am so over spending the day watching wall to wall bogans pushing through the dog pavilions and being abused if I ask people not to touch my dogs. And over being too scared to leave the dogs for a nanosecond and worrying that when I come back to the benches with them after being judged that things will have been stolen.

Until security among other things improves I won't be entering for the forseeable future.

Edited to add, I much prefer Launceston Royal where you can take your car and trailer on to the grounds, can set up gazebos so you and your friends can watch out for each other more easily and where you are not crammed into an inadequate indoor space.

No matter what show it is we never leave our dogs alone at any show. If it was just up to me we would not enter Hobart Royal and the last few years of Royals for us we have to purchase extra tickets to get in so our dogs are never alone.

With the no public access benches at Hobart Royal the public just go in anyway. We had people and kids come running up to our dogs last year and when it was pointed out that the public were not allowed in that area they got quite rude.

  4. Hey guys!

SO I'm new to DOL and I own an Nikon D70, And yes, I know this question has been asked and answered before, however 46 pages is A LOT to go through! So I spologise, But I am looking to buy myself either a 1.4 or a 1.8. From what I've seen, the 1.4 is dominating this thread, however... As a starter should I go for the better or the lesser lens? Money doesn't worry me, I've got savings!!

I take okay images, I'm harder on myself then what others are on my photos... I wish to better my images, and try new things, hence why I'm looking at getting this lens.

As an example, this is my girl Willow at just 10 months ... Very rough and no editing, be critical if you'd like!!

If anything I wish she had opened her mouth in two of these photos, it puts her in a more serious light, and Will's anything but serious!!

I like your photos. I am new to all this as well and have decided to go with the 1.4. I have read a lot about them here I love the photos taken with it and from other things I have read its sturdier (?) as well.

  7. I took the advice given here and I got the Canon 450D with Twin lens Kit. Knowing what I know now and my budget at the time I would have gone the same way. I am learning heaps (all be it slowly) and I love it.

Thanks to the the lovely photos on here by Kirislin anf others I now have a wish list that makes my hubby cringe.
