My breeder has recommended that I get a set of show stackers as one of my boys will not stand on the table. I think Show Stackers might help as it would discipline him into standing, I think!!! Does anybody else have them and if so what do you think. Do they really work?? Cheers in advance :p

Cheers to all who gave me some advice I always condition after I have shampooed because I was told that will close the cuticle I have seabreeze oil so might give that a go as well. I don't like putting anything to oily on their coat as they look horrible and dirty. They get brushed everyday so hopefully that is enough to promote the natural oils in their coats. Chi4me I was once told that pantene has alot of silicone in it, does it??

Hi There Just wondering what everybody else uses for a whitening shampoo. I have Cavaliers and I think I have tried just about everything on the market - I am a bit of a product junkie ;) At the moment I alternate between Animal House and Kojo Extreme white. I have 2 boys and one really pees alot on himself, so I am washing constantly. I started just rinsing him daily and then putting a bit of conditioner on his coat and just leaving it in. I don't want to wash everyday as this will dry his coat out. I also use Animal House Volhold followed by baby powder with pure corn starch daily. I just want to know if anybody else has the same problem or any other suggestions. Also any suggestions on how to get the urine that has stained his coat a lovely shade of yellow of his coat would also be very very helpful Thanks in advance

Hey all, yes it was an extremely late night and I am still trying to recover I just want to say how fantastic both of the judges were on Saturday night. This was the first time in a long time that I really enjoyed the judging. They took the time to have a chat and explain what they liked and didn't like and that to me is sooo important. So a very big thank you to Mr Bill Smith and Mrs Dianne Smith of QLD :p You were both fantastic. Also my Neutered Cav got his first points towards his champion, he got 12 points and took out Best Neuter in Group in both shows (sorry Pappylove ) Also I just want to say that all the Junior Handlers did fantastically for the State Final. My Daughter Amber got 1st in the Junior (she was the only one ) She was completely stoked and thought she was so good with her big sash. She still has a lot to learn but this is how it all starts and we need these young people to keep this amazing sport that we all love going. So a big thank you also to the Judge of The State Final, Mr Mel Hammond who also took the time to explain things to all the competitors. Also a big congratulations to the winner Courtney Irlam, I am sure you will do the Territory proud. My daughter thought she was just the best thing and can only hope that 1 day she will be like that too

There is a Cavalier thread in general you might want to pop in to. It's in the breed subforum. We do need pics though Royal Canin is good. I don't feed the breed specific one cause it doesn't come in big bags. Eagle Pack is good too. I prefer the Holistic range. There is a chicken one that is suited to small breeds adult and puppy. Don't know about helping with the cat, I'm afraid. Hi Bashara Hopefully this message finds you since this thread is a few months old I have 4 cavs at the moment and feed them all on the Royal Canin breed specific. They are however all over 12 months old. I am fairly sure you can feed the breed specific from 10 months old, until then I would just use a good quality puppy food. There are so many on the market and if you only have the one to feed I would recommend a good quality one like Royal canin or advance or science diet. Then when it comes time to switch do it slowly, the first night do 1/4 new food 3/4 old food, stay on that for a couple of nights then do 1/2 and 1/2 for a few nights then 3/4 new 1/4 old and then you should be good to go. I don't feed my cavs any kind of wet food only dry and then about once a week they get chicken necks. I do however put sardines in oil in their dry food to keep their coat glossy. The cat thing well I have a cat that stays inside with my dogs too and they usually tolerate each other. Over time I am sure they will learn to get on. My dogs chase the cat too but she is too fast for them and I am fairly sure it is all a big game for her!!! Hope this helps you

Thanks wizzle, will go that a go I ahve used tear stain remover but doesn't seem to move it at all. I also read that tomato past can make it dissapear in the grooming thread on DOL. You put 1/2 teaspoon in their food everynight and it will eventually disappear, I have been doing this for the last 2 nights but I think it will take a while to see a change. I was just hoping that there was some kind of miracle cure that works overnight :D

They will be linked to this page Liamber: Results and Previous Group/Breed Numbers Thank you Will we be getting our numbers soon

Of All The Cheaper Dry Dogfoods Which Is The Best?
liamber replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have been told that if you feed a premium brand than no you don't feed them as much. Some people are under the impression that big dogs need big meals, this is not necessarily true. We have a Dogue De Bordeaux and he gets about 600gr of minced chicken carcus(from Leonards) and about 3 cups of Supercoat a night. That is all we feed him. He is not fat nor is he thin and he weighs about 65 kgs He does get raw chicken carcusses once a week and occasionally we will put a tin of sardines in his dinner as well. Now I know that this is not the case for all big dogs but most do not need big meals, it puts too much stress and strain on their joints and we all know that for big dogs or any dogs as a matter of fact is not a good thing -

Where abouts do you buy this brand from? Is it a pet shop line? I feed my Cavs on Royal Canin breed specific but between 4 of them it is a little exy if you no what I mean Rule of kibble/dry food is that the first ingredient on the back of the pack should be a meat or meat by product. My DH did hours of research online and discovered this little tip. Anything other than that usually use a wheat product as their main ingredient and that can be bad for your dogs skin, it can cause allergies We feed our bigger dogs Supercoat as it has a meat product as its first ingredient. But be aware that a dog food company can change their ingredients and not have to update their packaging for up to 6 months!!! -
Liamber - have you been over to the cav thread? Your Harvey sounds so cute! What colour is he? We need pics Susan Hi susan, no I haven't, I am fairly new to DOL and I am still working my way around it :D Where would I find that thread? He is sooo cute and when I got him I would carry him around like a baby, my DH would get so jealous and call me crazy, maye I am ;) He is a Blenheim, my fave!! You might be able to help me with one thing though, he has extremely bad tear staining I am about to put him in the ring next weekend as a neuter for the first time and would like for at least most of it to be gone. Do you have any suggestions for a quick fix

Well shelties and Danes, it looks to me that either there won't be many people at their Royals or they are going in their Birthday Suits Either way it should be interesting
-
Hey Darwin Royal, when you put up the group totals for The Royal, where abouts on the site will I find them? :)

Hi Dili and welcome to this wonderful world of dog showing. I am also fairly new and have 3 Cavaliers in gropu 1, 2 entire female and male and 1 neuter male. My tips to you would be listen to the Ring Steward before you enter as they will tell you what the judge wants from you and listen to the judge when you get in the ring. Try not to be nervous, although I know its hard not to be, I still get nervous everytime Oh and one other thing and the most important thing, just have alot of FUN Will see you there!!

My Cav boy Harvey has many toys We keep them in a box in the lounge room and usually at night he will go into the box and pull them out one by one. Before to long he will have every single toy out and he will play with one and then another one will catch the corner of his eye, so he rushes over and pounces on it and throws that one around for a while ;) He is so funny to watch and loves you throwing them around for him. He does have a few favourites though, his favourite would be a little daffy duck that now has no legs His fave thing in the whole world is not a toy though, when I got him as a 9 week old puppy he would cry at night at the side of my bed until I put my hand down near him then he would settle. So I gave him a pair of my old sleeping pants, not washed of course and ever since then he sleeps with them every night, he is now 14 months old. It is such a cute thing to watch him get in his bed at night and scratch up his sleep pants until comfy and then he finds the end of the drawstring from the waste and puts it in his mouth and off to dream land he goes It is just sooo damn cute!!!

Having only been showing for a year or two (yeah, I'm brand new :D ) and having only shown in the NT, I just assumed it was normal to have a neuter class Still learning..................... :D I am with you itsmeg, I thought the NT woluld have been way behind everybody else on this, but in fact we are way ahead When I showed briefly about 11 years ago (before kids ) there was never such thing as a Neuter class back then, showing was for entire dogs only!! It just goes to show how times change, and for the better. It should be a sport we can all enjoy and not just for one purpose. I think that every club should be made to offer at least 18 and 18A classes at every show now that a Neuter Title has been approved by the ANKC.

Thanks Missymoo The problem is being in Darwin we don't have alot of choice of shops to go shopping at for this kind of attire for young girls I also don't want to spend too much as she will probably only wear it this once for the final and then will be back to good old tights under a dress(young kids these days!!!) A nice skirt and kids blazer would be perfect but I have looked high and low everywhere in Darwin and also online, and still can't find anything :D Her waist size in inches is about 24 inches. I have a time finding stuff for my daughter as she is tiny. Try these stores. I have found small jackets and great basic skirts at. Valley Girl Supre Alley Tempt I am sure in Darwin they would have these stores We do have these stores, I hadn't even thought of these, Thanks I did however go to a few op shops yesterday and managed to find something half decent :D I just had to make a few minor adjustments and she is pretty much good to go

I tend to be both ways. Sometimes I match lead to dog or lead to outfit. Does it really matter I love to have bling on my leads. I have always just shown my tri colour cav on a black lead and my blenheim cav on a white lead. Then I got curious about the beaded bling leads, and started looking around for some nice ones. I couldn't find anything I like so I decided to make my own. It is still a work in progress and so far have used a few different combinations and have had some comments on the bling I have just made a white paracord lead with gold crystal and metal beads on a Jewellers link gold chain for my Blenheim boy for his first time in the ring as Neuter. I do agree that too much bling can be distracting, but the right amount can be just so classy. The girl I am showing I have run her on Pink paracord with pink glass crystal and silver metal beads with silver chain, but have just finished off a pink lead with pink and gold beads with a gold chain. Most of the time I wear a grey skirt with whatever colour top I feel like.
