Send them to Charlie: Clipperman. He's brilliant. I live in Tas and my blades get sent to him in Vic, just make sure you request he does them specifically, not another staff member.

Those 2 slots you can see on the c-shaped piece line up with the two wires poking out of the clippers. Then you just put the silver, then black blades back on and line up the screws. I pull mine apart all the time to clean and soak the blades. They are meant to be disposable blades but if you have a good clipper guy like me they can be sharpened 1 or 2 times before you need to throw them away.

Experiment: Do Australian Dogs Recognize A Coyote?
Shaar replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
One of mine is sitting with her head about a foot from my laptop speaker and didn't bat an eyelid. The other is asleep on the couch above my head and I heard a muffled sigh. -
A "friend" of mine bought a husky pup from a local pet shop with not much change out of $2,000. He then came to me asking how to enter dog shows. When I told him he couldn't suddenly he couldn't keep the puppy anymore and rehomed it.

Propalin works for my bitch. She still has accidents on occasion but we have gone from every time she falls asleep to once or twice a week.

Brighton showground here in Tasmania has reserved places. You pay a fee and that spot is yours for the whole year. It's first come first served. Everyone who hasn't reserved a spot either has to be super nice to those who have or be stuck out in the boondocks.

Anything is acceptable, the judge is looking at the dog, not you. I have seen people showing in everything from gumboots and jeans to full dress suits in the same class and it had no bearing on the outcome. Edit - The only thing I will mention is to wear a color that compliments the dog. ie: If you have a black dog, don't wear black pants or the dog can get lost in the sea of black.

It's quite odd, this same dog also near falls over when he lifts his leg and he has bumped his willy on more than a few trees trying to do his vertical leg lift... It's certainly a sight to see To the OP, I would follow him around the yard at a distance and when you see him toilet just praise him like crazy, even if you are 50 metres away. Each time get a little closer to him and eventually try a long lead.

We have floating wooden floors at our place and the dogs do occasionally slip and slide if they have been out to the toilet on wet grass. I have runners and squares of carpet on the high traffic (or should I say zoomie prone) areas. Not the prettiest, but I just pick them up and put them in the linen cupboard if we know we are having guests.

Mine has no shame either, although when he poops on walks he first has to lift his leg to pee and them starts pooping while one back leg is still in the air

This is exactly what I have done, my boy is co-owned with his breeder and I have no problems with it at all. A lot of people would want to get their hands on his breeding and to start with his breeder didn't know me from a bar of soap, I was just a girl who called asking about a puppy. If he were sold outright I could have studded him out to every dog in the country... I wouldn't of course, but his breeder didn't know that. Now that we have built up more of a trust things are more lenient.

Are You Not Allowed To Dislike Certains Dogs Around Here?
Shaar replied to HugUrPup's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yep there are some breeds I wouldn't own, I just don't like them. I have a Chinese Crested, a LOT of people dislike them as a breed and think they are ugly... why am I not allowed to dislike another breed when I get told on a daily basis "Oh why did you buy one of those?". I'm not a fan of some bully breeds, no it has nothing to do with BSL, they just don't really appeal to me in the slightest. I can see why others like them but that doesn't mean I have to. -
Distractions are good, interactive toys are something I have found poodles love as they enjoy working out their brains as much as their legs. I know there are mixed opinions about laser pointers but mine love it, would happily chase it around the house for hours and the best part is... I don't have to move. They know when it is gone as I give a command (gone) when "dot time" is over to avoid obsessive compulsive behavior and make a point of showing them I am putting it down (yes, they know where the dot comes from, clever little beggars). Tumble balls are fun, I have one that has a motor inside it so it wobbles around the floor on it's own. Once they get bored with chewing it it springs back to life and shoots across the floor getting them interested again, mine was $15 from Woolworths. You can also get them made for kids with a fluffy weasel attached to them.

Self employed here, I just put casual as I make my own hours from home (artist).

Oooh fab, been looking for somewhere that makes trolleys with the "old style" wire rather than those horrible vertical aluminium poles. I have seen so many dogs tails sticking out of the bar type ones, they are ruddy dangerous.

Mine love the complete mix you put with raw meat. Love the tips that go up on FB all the time too, pity I'm stuck down the bum end of Australia

Is This Normal Healing? Update! All Has Healed And Is Normal
Shaar replied to Lhok's topic in General Dog Discussion
My male poodle was the same when he was neutered, had a bad reaction to the actual stitches they used and we ended up having them taken out almost a full week early. Poor boy, and here I was telling him off for trying to lick it when it must have been so uncomfortable. -
I prefer the clean look as well, mine has clipped face and ears. I have heard some people comment that if the ears are clipped there must be something wrong with them, but I just prefer the look of clipped ears, especially on males, it makes them look more 'doggy'. I leave cheek hair on (as it is the only part of him that is white and looks good when he runs and it flows back) and with full ears as well it would be too much hair and start to make him look unbalanced.
-
It's the same as many other breeds... Look at the poodle, they should have a very thick, harsh feeling coat yet there are many with sparse soft hair. Obviously it's wrong and you try to breed for a harsher coat. Very hairy hairless IMO is wrong, you shouldn't have to be borderline shaving off a puff to show. I have seen many dogs overseas with huge shawls around their shoulders when the standard clearly states the body should be hairless. Yes it looks more glamourous as the more body hair you have, the thicker crest, socks and tail, but many people are breeding cresties who might as well just be puffs with tusks. I have a question for the crestie people (and others if you have seen one) have you ever come across someone showing a hairless with the facial hair left on? The standard says the face can be left long on both varieties but I have never seen one in the ring.
-
I don't like that at a show you can have 25 bitches entered and only 1 dog. Both BOB and RUBOB are both bitches yet the bitch that beat 24 others gets nothing while the lone dog gets 6 points. Not fair at all.
-
It's such a shame the puffs get overlooked, have seen some beautiful ones. I would like to see them separated but as they are interbred I don't see this happening. You can't breed only hairless, there must be puff in the pedigree. I plan on getting a puff one day, I know it knocks back my chances of winning but they really are stunning in full coat.

Worst Excuses For Re-homing Or Surrendering A Pet
Shaar replied to PeiPei's topic in General Dog Discussion
The moving one gets me too... When we were house hunting a few years ago I ruled out any houses that had inappropriate yards for the dogs! There was one beautiful house but it was on a very steep hill, it was basically all sloped/tiered garden and no lawn. I loved that house but it was no good for the dogs so it was out. We ended up settling on a lesser suburb with a nice yard for the dogs. I will always have dogs, so they come into the picture when we are house hunting too. One that REALLY annoys me is the excuse of "The landlord found out". Ummm did you really think you could keep a dog in a rental when you KNEW you weren't allowed to? -
Eucalyptus oil works well but you will need to shampoo really well afterwards to get rid of the smell! I was given some Citsol a while ago... absolutely brilliant, haven't been able to find it in shops though so my little container is used sparingly.

I'm not quite that bad, my grooming is mostly done from home, just a quick spritz of aloe vera to shine the skin and a fluff with the slicker brush and we're good to go!
