  1. I wonder how much you should have have saved up to feel peace of mind that you don't need insurance?
  2. PF I have pm'd you megan Yes I've appealed it, they won't budge on it. Aidan I'm a disciplined saver although I'm only a student... But if I know it's for my animals I will save.
  3. I've paid premiums for several years, and only tried to make my first claim this year. The company is refusing to pay and I feel they are being very unfair. The PDS doesn't exclude the condition in my opinion, but they are saying that it does. But I'm tired of fighting them about it. I'm now weighing up the costs of changing companies VS the cost of just not having insurance and having a savings account to pay for vet bills. If I change companies, there will be costs involved in doubling up insurance for all pets for a month (so there's no lapse in illness cover) and cruciate ligament exams, and there will be some exclusions for past conditions. If I stop paying for insurance I don't have to worry about paperwork and premiums and excesses, the PDS and wondering if a claim will be paid. Since I hardly ever claim I would have been well ahead by now if I'd done this from the start. But I like the peace of mind from having insurance. Or do I just stay with the same company knowing that claims might not be paid? Maybe most of the pet insurance companies are similar and I might not be gaining much by changing companies? How do you decide what to do?
  4. If the chip has migrated outside of the scanning zone, which yours has, it is the done thing to place another one. The old one is left there too, and when the paperwork is faxed to which ever registry it is to go on, a cover letter is written explaining the situation and also including the other microchip number as well. I'm surprised the vet told you this. (Or was it a nurse?) I'd discuss it with them again, or take him to another clinic to be done. You could also contact the microchip registry that your dog is already on and ask what they suggest. It was the vet that told me. She said it's not allowed (we're in Qld so I'm not sure if the rules here are different.) Thanks for the ideas though. I really hate knowing his chip has moved so much that it might be missed, and it was frustrating being turned away from getting another one by the vet. I think I'll follow it up to check if what the vet said is true, because you said it's the done thing to put another one in and that makes more sense to me if they can link both chips. Thanks.
  5. My dog's chip has moved, the vet nurse almost gave up on finding it. It's right under the arm pit now. I asked the vet about getting another chip put in but they said it's not allowed. Not sure what to do. Sorry for being off topic.
  6. I do this and it works well. I rub the conditioner in my hands with a few drops of water to make it thinner, rub over my dog and then brush through.
  7. Bonnie Pup - you should have the right to a review. Have you taken that avenue yet? Yes and haven't heard back. I think they're twisting the words of the PDS to get out of paying.
  8. Does anyone know if there's an ombudsman who can help with insurance? The company we are with doesn't want to pay the claim.
  9. Ok thank you anyway. I thought it was worth asking for her. She doesn't have a lot of money but will find the money somehow.
  10. My friend's puppy may have eaten something and got a blockage. We don't know. It's not eating or drinking. It's at the vets now but they haven't diagnosed it yet because the x-rays were clear (but they said it might still be in the bowel even though they can't see it there.) Is it too late to get pet insurance for this? It hasn't been properly diagnosed yet, they will monitor the puppy and check it again in the morning. But I assume it's too late for insurance? Would it be accident or illness? Any advice? She doesn't want to do anything dodgy with regards to insurance of course, she just wants to know if it's too late to legitimately get insurance?
  11. Is there any benefit of doing CCD before going into Novice? I'm in Townsville
  12. Hi huski Thanks for the info. So it goes CCD, Novice Sweepstakes then Novice, is that right? Thanks again Does anyone have any videos of their dogs trialing in the above classes? I'd love to see
  13. Hi I'm interested in trialing my dog and I've been reading about the different classes in obedience trials. I'm a little confused about CCD and Sweepstakes and Novice. Which is the first class that I should compete in, and what class comes next? Thank you for any help you can give me!
