  1. So how do you explain a 4kg dog having no ill effects after having a large quantity of chocolate on at least 3 occasions?
  2. Glad Daphne is ok The size of the dog has nothing to do with it, our old mini foxy X chihuahua dog was a huge fan of chocolate, when she was quite young my grandparents were looking after her and she got into a huge box of Roses and ate every single one, she had also gotten into blocks of chocolate on more than one occasion. Not once did she end up at the vet and she lived to a ripe old age of 14 (she got heartworm at age 9 and we were told she would live another 12 months) My JRT has gotten into chocolate a couple of times, she has never had a great amount of it but she has never gotten sick from it, my Golden has never had any and Im going to be very careful she doesnt get any
  3. Unless some vets are just as bad as some doctors and prescribe antibiotics just because too many people believe antibiotics are a "cure all" and the doctors just prescribe them to keep people happy Hope your pup is ok though
  4. Me too lol, one reason why I decided not to get a Lab was because I thought it was impossible to keep weight off them!
  5. That was my first thought, but if he is anything like my 17 week old Golden who is teething ...maybe he doesnt chew his food if its small enough to swallow whole lol
  6. If I was you I would crate train them, if you are unfamiliar with crate training do a search on these boards, I am so glad I crate trained my pup, before I got her I didnt know a lot about crate training and why you would use it, Im currently in the process of crate training my 8yo JRT because I was so impressed with the results with my pup If you are unable to take the puppies to seperate puppy preschool classes get someone else to take one of the pups and encourage them to play with the other pups, not each other As for the Cavoodle thing, just a friendly note that you will be much better dropping the fancy name, as a couple of others have said there is no such breed and if you insist on calling them Cavoodles you wont make a lot of friends on here, just recognise them for the cross breeds that they are and you wont have any problems
  7. Id be working on little things first, get him used to getting handled, checking his ears and playing with his feet, give him tummy rubs, check his teeth, things like that to get him used to being handled
  8. Advantix repels mozzies but its a bit of an expensive treatment if you dont need to treat for ticks
  9. Lol, I just got the best training session out of my JRT who would only ever work for food using a chew toy that I didnt even realise she liked!!
  10. Id put a towel or something in there, should absorb it, as for cleaning it there is no reason why you couldnt just hose it out and leave it out to dry
  11. Ditto, Im currently saving for the motorhead to fit on my model but even without the motorhead its still amazing...Im tempted to go to bunnings and trying a rubber broom just to see how much comes out though!
  12. Lol, Ive been meaning to post about them but because Im on holidays I didnt have the name with me...then realised its written on the bag lmao Ive only just gotten mine and Im very happy with it, Ive seen the large ones and they are a very decent size (made up) but still fold down quite small, they are strong as well, Im glad I went with this style rather than the flat ones because my car isnt very big either, mine is a Mazda3 so its a bit bigger than yours, but even my wire crate that I posted about earlier only just fits in the boot lol
  13. Any idea if they are heading to Brisbane show?
  14. I have this style for my JRT, it folds up as an umbrella style so its quite compact and its easy to set up, might be a good option seeing as you have such a little car http://www.petsavenue.com.au/kennels-cages...s/dog-dig-crate
  15. I agree, Lexi used to jump on me and I was worried she would knock my 3yo niece over when I came for a holiday, if she jumped on me Id push my knee out to nudge her down (so Im not coming down to her level) and tell her "no dont jump". I wasnt overly harsh on her because she has issues with submissive urinating and she doesnt need a lot of reinforcement so this was enough for her. Im glad to say she no longer jumps up on me and she didnt knock my niece over once
  16. Mine mainly just lays down in hers, but she is still a pup, I think she has just accepted it as her bed or 'relaxing place' lol, gotta lay down to relax
  17. A very good point, now is a good time for her to start thinking about the puppies training, does she want to get involved with any dog sports or will the puppy simply be a pet? Id be encouraging her to get involved in a sport, agility and flyball come to mind, it will really help with her control of the dog
  18. I got a JRT as 'my' first dog when I was 16, I still have her and she will be 9 this year, and while I love her to death, I wouldnt recommend the breed for someone who has never 'owned' a dog before, We had always had family dogs so its not as though I had never been around dogs. They are very full on and require a huge commitment as far as training goes, I know all dogs require a commitment but JRTs require years of constant training to keep them in check
  19. My crate should fit my GR when she is grown and it is approx 90cmx60cm, height im unsure on
  20. In my classes they dont recommend we use the word 'no' they prefer we say something like 'whoops' because its hard to use a negative tone with that word. They dont enforce it though, I use 'no' with my dogs
  21. The other problem I had with that design is they get tangled up, which is why Im looking at ones which will hook onto the anchor point, its on the back of the seat with the Mazda3 so they wont get tangled
  22. The problem I have with that style is my dog steps on the plug and releases herself
  23. Meat chickens grow and mature very quickly
