  1. Oooh Im in with both my girls, Im not available saturday, will PM you
  2. Does anyone know of any flyball clubs on Brissys Northside? Im thinking about getting my JRT into flyball but Im having trouble finding a club. I do know of one at Pine Rivers but Ive been told by a lady who used to do agility with them that a lot of the dogs that go there are quite aggressive, Tess can be quite snappy herself and she is getting much better around other dogs so I dont really want her around aggressive types if I can avoid it
  3. X3 Ouch, you want to nip this in the bud now while she is still young, if a pup is showing signs of aggression this young it wont just get better on its own, you will need to find out why its like this Have you asked the breeder about it?
  4. Valley people competing in western style events arent required to wear helmets, most come out in a cowboy hat but that soon flies off. Helmets are becoming more common with the westerners but they arent required. Stupid if you ask me, especially for children
  5. hey awesome! what do you guys do at Metro? is it strictly obedience? Im thinking about getting Tess into flyball when she learns to jump properly (well properly for agility) but I only know of one club which is at Pine Rivers, a lady at agility said she used to go there for agility and the other dogs are quite aggressive, so Im a bit worried about taking Tess there, she is getting really good now but if she is around any dogs that come across as aggressive she will revert back to that herself...
  6. Omg I admired the stays he was doing with the 3 BCs and the waterdog? He must have such good control to get them to stay and come in turn, well, except Sybill lol, but I cant even get mine to stay in position, they keep swivilling to see where I am going
  7. Just watch them when you first spray them, they go crazy for a few seconds and I nearly had one jump on my foot! ewwww
  8. Im at Bracken Ridge Just had to laugh when he was talking about her "Oh look there's Betty - awwww" - he sounded like Frank Spencer ;) Omg I loved that, and when he wasnt quite sure what he was doing on the videos, then cursing himself for such a bad example, like the magic hand LMAO
  9. straight dettol, just get the no frills brand cos its cheaper, put it in a spray bottle and on a squirt setting, give them a couple of sprays. They sort of go into a bit of a coma after a little while and thats when i pick them up with the shovel and put them in the wheelie bin, but spray a bit of fly spray over it otherwise you will have maggots. A friend of mine has just changed to PineOclean and she said it works just as good and its cheaper
  10. Yes. Males are a quicker easier surgery. Unless they need to go hunting lol But yes generally speaking speys are more expensive and a more complex surgery than castrations
  11. I use dettol on mine, PineOclean is supposed to be just as good and cheaper..plus it smells better And before anybody says anything I dont care if it burns them, if my dogs grab one they will die a worse death, and there is no way Im catching them and sticking them in my freezer, they scare the crap out of me, the closest I get is the other end of the shovel
  12. I agree, when I was on holidays in the UK I couldnt believe how dog friendly it was, particularly in Wales
  13. Definately, best to put a smaller mesh around it to stop them The only place they can get into my yard is a tiny gap between the gate and the fence...I dont get many, but they do get through there
  14. Lol, yeah when that dog came out it reminded me of Tess a few years ago, I think Ill use that method to teach Lexi to 'leave it' she is quite good with food refusal when it comes to dinner, but Im not sure how to go about teaching her to leave something alone...this could work
  15. Hmm, the more Im looking at these the more Im lost, I think I would be able to get her onto a target stick but I want something with an obvious target (a ball would be good) but the only one I seem to be able to find is a Karen Pryor one, which is just a fold down stick ETA, for my blonde moment, Ive just realised that I have a chuckit which will do the job nicely lmao MrsD congratulate the people who had their dogs there, they did a great job because they would have been under a lot of stress! although I have to admit I was looking at that Goldie hoping and praying to god that Lexi doesnt get like that ;) gotta love puppies huh?
  16. Umm, there was nobody directly in front of me, but I do remember the lady who demonstrated with the BC pup (blonde hair) was a few seats to my left, in the front row Hmm, I really want one of those click and treats...wonder if there will be anybody selling them at ekka? Mind if I ask why you guys dont let your dogs play? By socialise I meant hello anyway, Tess has always been wary around big dogs, she is getting much better seeing as there is only one other little dog in our agility group, but I want her to know that big dogs are ok everywhere Lexi needs to learn that just because there is other people and fur people around, doesnt mean you stop listening to mum lol
  17. Oh, that treat stick he had when he was teaching Whizzy the high trot, does anyone know what it was called and where I might get it? looks great for teaching my little dog circle work, she thinks all walking must be in a straight line unless we follow a path around a corner God help Jane Harper when I see her Saturday lol, she will take one look at Tess and scoot I think LMAO
  18. Lol, in that case MrsD I would have been almost behind you, I was in the second row back on the end
  19. Where abouts were you sitting Huski? I was in the middle section on the right hand side, towards the front, and for the demo I was over the left hand side of the group, most people seemed to be there in pairs or more, I was looking out for other loners like me lol He was great, there was a few times when I tuned out a bit...sleep deprived and worried about a sick pup, I wish I thought to bring a notepad though, didnt think about it until I was there lol
  20. Ditto Im going to try some of his focus work on my JRT, I spoke to him afterwards because most of his demonstration was working on heeling, where as for agility we need to send our dogs forward, he said I should do the toy exercises the red BC was demonstrating (except I can guarantee Tess wont do it that well for a very long time if ever lol) and Ill try the ball under the chin thing too, she is very focused on my hands So glad I went along, I was very close seeing if I could get a refund because of the rain! I get quite nervous driving in the dark and the wet lol
  21. It just seems to be a night time thing, I dont let my dogs out unsupervised at night, you also need to make sure you either change their drinking water every morning, or raise it up so toads dont swim in it at night because they poison the water
  22. My JRT seems to have issues with mini poodles, but she was poorly socialised as a pup (due to a lack of dogs to socialise her with and a place in which to do it not due to my own laziness)
