Depends on the size of your hands, I have used regular sized ones but have now moved to a large one as I find it easier to get treats out in a hurry. We sell a lot at our club and mostly they are regular sized ones. I find the regular perfect, I have both my dogs training in separate classes on the same day and I can fit in enough treats to last both of them Not so easy when you wear jeans, especially when you dont like the residue treats leave behind, give me my blackdog pouch anyday

Chicken Mince From Leonards Chicken
GoldenGirl85 replied to a topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Its just the same as chicken mince from any other butcher, Id get it, I dont have a leonards in my suburb, I get it from my local guy, I tell him when Im running low and he tells me when its going to be fresh, otherwise they freeze it in 1kg lots -
Or if you have to run with your dog in agility, just snap it closed and run, no zips or draw strings involved

I love my blackdog treat bag, i know its expensive, but so much easier

How can any organization in their right mind be aiming to stop people from owning pets? That is preposterous. And why would they be against purebred dog breeders? Surely that would also include BYB? If they don't believe in pet ownership it would have to involve all breeders. If that is what they are all about then maybe they should keep their heads deep in the cavity that allows no ray of sunshine! Another convert PETA is so contradictory in their views not a single 'follower' can walk in a straight line

Does anyone on here make snoods simply for keeping ears out of food? my mums cavs are in desperate need of new snoods, the ones she bought off one of the dogs breeders wernt a very good design and she has been meaning to make up a new one but hasnt bothered, if someone makes them then Im sure she would buy a couple

Love those sit on your a*se and become a millionaire careers. How good are they? How many people do you know that have sat on their a*se and become rich (heirs excluded) Id like to know how many people actually believe it will happen like that...obviously some must to keep this stuff circulating

I once received a chain mail sort of letter with 5c attached, I cant remember what it was but it was something along the lines of "send me $2 and I will send you a list of 20 people, when you forward this letter onto them they will send you the $2" it was one of those 'sit on your a*se and become a millionaire' sort of letters, I kept the 5c and left it at that lol

You could try crating the puppy to let the older dog get used to the pup, or have both on leads and supervise all interaction. Does the older dog know 'gentle' that is also a great help

Id recommend a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, they really are lap dogs, they love nothing better than to be sitting on 'mum' but they can also be quite active when you want them to. Id say to compromise on a breed, and then approach breeders and see how your son copes, he may not be allergic to the dog you decide on

Feed all her meals inside the crate, that way she learns that its a good place, during the day encourage her to go inside by putting a cuddly toy in but dont close the door, when she is comfortable just being in the rate close the door, but dont latch it, that way she can still escape if she starts to feel clausto, give her lots of praise everytime she goes into the crate or even looks in it, it needs to be the most positive place you can provide for her, pretty soon she will love spending time in her crate The crate must never be used for punishment, it is a safe place Do we get to see photos of your girl? you should join is in the retriever thread!

My JRT had eaten tinned food exclusively until recently, a few weeks after I got my Goldie I decided to slowly change them onto a better quality dry food and I think its the best thing I ever did for them, I looked at the feeding guides of the cheaper foods, and the recommended amount to feed was nearly twice what the higher quality foods was, which means you are buying twice the amount. Along with the kibble my girls will either get a tin of sardines (60c a tin), or some pet mince (minced chicken frames, $1.50/kg) an egg (free when your grandmother owns chickens lol) or Lexi will get a chicken frame once a week (usually get about 4 frames for $1.50) Id guess Lexi alone would go through at least 4 big tins of food a week and at $3-5 thats an expensive way to feed them, Id rather spend the extra $$$ on a big bag of superpremium kibble and not have to make that sort of purchase again for a while, then spend the few odd dollars each week on the mince or whatever, its better for their teeth too to eat crunchy food (unless your goldie is like mine who doesnt chew)

Advice On Different Package To Desex Puppy
GoldenGirl85 replied to nicolatu's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The vet haven't check his testicles yet. They just told me the price of different packages. You can check this, if there is 2 then it will be a simple procedure and those prices are outrageous, if there is only 1 then wait it out and see if the second drops, if not then find out if the price covers this or if they will charge you extra to search for the second one -
Yep, it's safe :D If you read the info inside the pack it says: What happens if I miss a dose or am late dosing? The regular interval between doses is one month i.e. approximately 30 days. If you miss your regular monthly treatment by 15 days or less, administer INTERCEPTOR SPECTRUM immediately and resume your monthly dosage scedule. If the interval is longer than 15 days and up to 30 days, heartworm prevention can still be maintained if you redose immediately and then maintain regular monthly dosing for the next 2 months. If a period of greater than 60 days had elapsed since the last dose, please contact your veterinarian. Every 6 weeks is 42 days so well within the limits. On the same day every month is more convenient for the average person and easier to remember, while also allowing those extra 15 days if you happen to forget. Since I have no trouble remembering I'd rather give my dog his every 6 weeks than overload him with more than he needs Awesome thanks for that, I thought Id read somewhere that it was safe but thought Id double check before starting that

The anaphylaxis was more or less instantaneous. The thrombocytopenia happened later. Sorry, my post was poorly worded. Oh ok, yeah that makes more sense now Sorry, I wasnt undermining you, I just didnt want you blaming the injection when it could have been something else...but as it turns out it probably was the injection lol
-
Sorry about your dog HM...but I think anaphylaxis would have been more instantaneous after having the injection rather than being a few months later...poor pup, RIP Sadly you will never know what caused the reaction, but chances are it wasnt the Pro Heart if it happened a few months after the injection...it could have been anything Not advocating the injection btw, I have given it to my JRT for the last few years, but she wont be getting it again

Advice On Different Package To Desex Puppy
GoldenGirl85 replied to nicolatu's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My vet clinic doesnt do packages either, I think its silly for them to offer it that way. I was asked if I wanted Lexi to have the bloods done, it was to cost an extra $80, I said no because she was a happy healthy pup, I didnt see the point. She was automatically given fluids (she still had the drip in when I went to pick her up) -
Ill come, I have a nearly 6 month old Goldie in need of socialising, if you dont want little dogs I can leave my JRT at home without a worry, if I bring her Ill probably keep her on lead anyway ETA Im in Bracken Ridge

Is Interceptor safe to give every 6 weeks opposed to every 4 like its recommended on the packet? I thought I read on here somewhere that its perfectly safe to give 6th weekly but it says 4th weekly to make it easier to remember when to dose is that right? I havnt started either of my girls on Interceptor yet, my JRT still has the injection running around her system, and my pup isnt due for heartworm again just yet, but Ive bought a pack because she is due soon
