Im looking at getting a bigger one
-
Tess has never really been a Kong dog, she will lick out as much as she can reach, but gives up as soon as it becomes difficult, Ive never really given her Kongs because she has so little interest in them Lexi has been getting a Kong for dinner and she loves it, she is more than happy to keep chewing even after all the meat is gone Does anyone have any suggestions for getting Tess more interested in her Kong? I have two sizes but Im wondering if the small one might be too small for her, technically its the right size for her breed, but she seems to have a lot of trouble getting the food out (the small one is always put up when Tess isnt licking it out so Lexi doesnt get it), do you think if I turf the smaller one and get a bigger one she might show more interest because its 'easier'? Also what do you guys put in your Kongs to build interest? so far she has been getting some Natures Gift tinned food, or pet mince with a bit of kibble

There are heaps of these topics if you do a search I have my Goldie insured with PIA (pet insurance australia) I have the top most cover with the $500 excess

where abouts in Brissy are you? I go to PADS at Eatons Hill, its an agility club so most of the people who go there are generally aiming to compete in agility, they offer a puppy class, obedience, motivation and control (basically a pre agility course, teaches off lead work and the very basics of agility, but its also good to maintain skills for dogs that are already there) and then of course the agility classes, which you cant start until your dog is 12 months old Really it depends on whether or not you are planning on having your dog as a pet, or if you would like to do a sport or obedience with it

Tokkie I have the large Kong for Tess, mainly because of Lexi but Tess copes fine with it. I have a Canine Genius for each of them, I cover the holes on the side and bottom with peanut butter, then freeze it, add some kibble to the middle, fill the top bit with peanut butter, freeze it all up, makes it last longer. Tess hasnt killed the large CG but she did kill the small one, that might be the way to go, just get a larger size of everything

I think Tokkie wants them to last more than 30mins, having a JRT I understand perfectly A good one Ive found for my girl is this green and white dumbell you can get from Coles, its a dental thing, Tess has never killed it, they both love chewing on it

Tess is a squeaky killer, but so far she hasnt killed a kong, try the black one it cant hurt

I know ringworm is highly contagious, but is it possible for dogs or cats to carry it but not show signs of having it? Im only asking because when I lived at home I was constantly getting little ringworm spots on my arm (usually just the right arm) I was getting these for years but the cream always cleared it up. I always blamed the family cat who was too feral to do anything with, she was never wormed etc because you would lose a limb if you tried, my mum insisted that it couldnt be the cat because you would see the patches on her, and I never touched the cat. I moved away from home in October and Ive never had a spot of it since, I have my dog with me who has been around for nearly as long as the cat, which is about as long as Ive been getting ringworm for. Do you think its possible I was getting it from the cat? Im the only one who ever got infected, none of the dogs got infected with it and nobody else in my family did either

Not A Problem More Of A Preventative Question

Anyone know the cheapest place to get Kongs online? Ive started giving Lexi her breakfast kibble in a Canine Genius and she seems to like it, stops her scoffing it out of a bowl anyway lol -
And so you should, GG. For $25 there is no way you could knock that back. haha, Im just glad I looked this thread up today...I dont even know what made me look for it lol
-
Sorry guys Im claiming it  Price is perfect because Im not really planning on using it as a harness or on a daily basis just for the occasional long walk or when I dont feel like carrying the bits and pieces, might get more use later on but for now this will be perfect!

I was chatting to a lady from a frisbee group in Bris, she said the best ones (which they supply) look like a regular frisbee, but they are soft if you try and twist them, not like the rubber ones
-
What size is it and how much are you after for it? It's a size large. I'd have to see how clean I can get the harness. I washed it not long ago and it came up very clean, but there's a bit of hair stuck in the velcro. I'd say $25 is probably fair, but if you're still interested I'll take some photos and you can decide. Photos please! does it have the water bladders in it as well? or is it a different one? Would the large fit a Goldie? Im only guessing it will

Wolfgirl they claim they sent out an email saying there was a mixup in the supply, I never received it and if you didnt Im guessing they didnt send it, tell them you want a refund they tried to get me to use my money as credit on something else What size is it and how much are you after for it?
-
Ive insured Lexi with PIA with the $500 excess, I can always afford the little vet visits but if she ever needs treatment for her hips Id be screwed, the only reason why Im worried about her hips is because we will be doing agility later on and Im a worry wart lol, I havnt had to claim on hers yet Tess I dont have insured, I couldnt find a company who would insure an older dog without incurring extra fees, Tess does agility atm and Id like to have her insured just encase, if anyone knows of a company that will insure an older dog let me know!

OT, but guide dogs QLD no longer use Advance for their dogs and puppies, they have slowly converted all their dogs onto a RAW diet they have had specially formulated for their dogs, its called 'Leading RAW' Im guessing NSW could follow suit. I bought a couple of boxes at their open day, the guy who sold it to me was telling me that Advance used to supply the kibble free of charge, but they tried a RAW diet on their dogs in training and were so impressed with the results they decided they would rather pay for the food and have better results
-
Didnt, they replied to my email saying there was an error in supply and would I like to credit my payment, told them I have no interest in the rest of their overpriced items and Ill have a refund, apologies to anyone who knows anyone involved with petitude but I think their service is ridiculous Might save up for the one you have, it looks good
-
I ended up buying one from petitude, not happy I paid for it on the 17th and im yet to receive anything, I emailed them this morning so hopefully Ill get some answers off them

Female Dog Marking
GoldenGirl85 replied to GoldenGirl85's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I might put her back on a collar then, I put her back on a harness and attached her to the walking belt so I could concentrate more on my pup and get her walking nicely, she responds to a check of the collar mostly so Ill see how that goes tomorrow I dont have any problems with her marking inside, its only on walks, and she will sometimes mark over Lexis wee in the yard, I know it means I have a dominant dog but she isnt aggressive at all, she will put Lexi in her place if she is getting too bouncy for her. Lexi isnt the slightest bit dominant so they make a good pair, Tess says 'jump' and Lexi says 'how high?' I know Lexi is still a pup and that may change, but for now things are working fine and I cant see that changing in the near future -

Lol, even if she does toilet properly first she always keeps a 'reserve' for the trees -

I dont let her pull me lol. I walk Tess on a walking belt and its just annoying to have her constantly straining on the lead when I know she just wants to mark
