  1. hehehe, told you there wouldnt be much keeping her quiet sounds like you did an awesome job with her though, I would have given up and just let her do what she wanted when she started to go crazy, hope she settles down again now that things are back to normal
  2. how much are you offering in a full bowl? perhaps she only needs the 1/4 that she is eating
  3. I recently had Tess in at the vet to have her annual vaccination, she has always only had the C4 (old vet in NSW said that the C5 is only ever needed if they are going into boarding) so as this vet hasnt vaccinated Tess before I asked for a C4 when I booked her, this was on 28/9, Ive just taken a look at the vaccination certificate and Ive paid for a C5, and her certificate says she has recieved a C5, yet the sticker says C4, plus there is another sticker which says Protech BB, which Im guessing makes it a C5 What is the difference in the two other then kennel cough? Im pretty pissed to find that they gave her the C5 when I only wanted the C4, and Ill be going to see them about it, but I want to be fully informed before I go in there, also is there any reason why she would have been given the C5 other than ignorance?
  4. So sad, although at least the dog didnt get blamed at all
  5. Ditto Id be looking at her mouth to see if there is anything going on there, and what is she being fed? a healthy dog wont starve themselves when food is on offer
  6. Good luck, at least dont her her offside, if she is set on this dog you arent really going to change her mind, but offer to go to the "breeders" place with her, that way you slyly ask about health testing and the rest of it, might make her see sense when either the "breeder" cant give answers or she admits that there is no health testing done
  7. Yes Id go for an elderly dog, that way she wont have to deal with a bouncy puppy, there are so many oldies looking for homes but nobody wants them because of their age
  8. Not advocating cross breeding but I am one that likes advocating the truth. Plenty of purebred poodles with PRA from reg. breeders. Not all reg. breeders conduct health tests. Moselle, after just over 20 years of working for a veterinary ophthalmologist, I am delighted to tell you that you are wrong. I could count on one hand the pedigreed Poodles with PRA that we have seen over the years (and certainly NONE in the last 5 or so years) due to the hard work and diligence of Poodle breeders. We would diagnose 4-5 Oodles PER WEEK with PRA. So soz, love. There is no "plenty" about it. And that is the truth advocated. Thanks for this information Elfin. It's great to know that ethical, registered poodle breeders (and others) continue to do the right thing by their much loved breeds. We have two puppy farms near where I live, breeding little oodle x puppies. They both have glitzy (read misleading) websites but nowhere on their websites do they mention health testing of parents for inherited disorders. Ellie Of course not, that would eat into their profit
  9. Except that these "breeders" are convincing the people who dont know any better that they arent crossbreds but are purebred themselves, and if they are very nice then surely they cant be one of those horrible breeders that misuses their dogs like all those horrible puppy farmers :D
  10. Perhaps the meets should just alternate between northside and southside each time, us northsiders keep getting outvoted!!! Sparky Id just update this thread Lillysmum ditto the clear weekend thing, Ive been here for a year too and it doesnt stop! so much for the sunshine state ETA - not the weekend of the 23rd please! Im going away!!!
  11. Sooo, its raining...still on? Im thinking I might head down for a visit with my girls if we are still on
  12. Thats right, how could she resist these beautiful faces (my mums dogs, blenheim girl Molly and black and tan boy Sam)
  13. The only "Cavoodle" Ive ever seen was ugly! If she is after a laid back dog that looks like a Cav...then she wants a Cav! they are the most laid back dogs Ive ever met! Granted I havnt met a lot of breeds, but Cavs are certainly a #1 breed if you want laid back Some photos you could show her (Cavalier ears maybe? but I wouldnt have picked Cav in this one) Cant tell me this one has a 'non shedding coat' All "Cavoodles" from "breeders" websites, yet they all look different and to me just look like every day mutts
  14. Also good news, still unsure if Ill be able to afford it by that stage but things are looking up :D GG85 if it helps you can come share my cabin :D Dolers are the best!! Ill email Steve when Ive worked out which is the correct email address to contact him on lol, but I think its definitely a possibility Ill be after some accommodation
  15. Also good news, still unsure if Ill be able to afford it by that stage but things are looking up
  16. I kept my pup on puppy food until she was 8 months, after that I mixed it with adult formula, she is still on a mix of the both but as soon as she is done with whats left in the bin now she will be on just adult, but by then she will be nearly 12 months old anyway
  17. Good for you for giving Jackson a deserving home I dont have a lot of advice, Ive never had a rescue and Im only new to Goldens myself, I just wanted to wish you the best with Jackson, the poor fella has had a bad life but its all turned around now, take things slow with him and dont be worried if his training takes steps backwards sometimes, we cant always move forward all the time
  18. K9: Sorry to hear that GG 85, I am not sure what the prices are, I am the main presenter but not running the workshop. I can tell you though that the facilities, food and location are top notch, and hopefully the speaker wont eb too bad either I believe you lol, but unfortunately I just cant justify spending that sort of money at the moment, unless we can book now and pay in February it just isnt going to happen, which is a big shame because Lexi could really use this sort of training
  19. Yes, the camping ended up being as dear as sharing a cabin. I am looking for someone with a medium to large dog to share with if you are interested? If you are bringing the little one I fear Banjo will be too rough to leave them in the yard together. But there are always crates and pens I suppose... Is that the price for each or the price for the cabin?
  20. Id love to go, but the 'per day' prices for camping scared me, unfortunately I cant justify that sort of price 'per day' (to camp) because Im poor :D
  21. to link you copy and paste the link, at the start you put and at the end you put [/*url] without the asterisk
  22. I read somewhere that the 'barn laid' eggs are the only real free range eggs out there (apart from people who have chooks of their own) the pack with the RSPCA logo are barn laid, free range was said to be just like caged except there is no cage (no cage, but still no room to move)
  23. Nothing to add...but it does sound like you need to invest in some new bikes! And I vote for the basket on the front for when Little Miss gets tired
  24. Ive just moved house and the new yard will need some work to keep the dogs in, the fencing isnt dug down on any of the sides, and its a sloping block so the rain has washed a lot of dirt away, leaving nice gaps under the fence I need to find a cost effective way of stopping Tess and Lexi from digging holes under, Ive only lived here since Sunday and already Tess got out twice today (until my nice neighbour put her in her yard for the day) Any suggestions? in my last place I nailed chicken wire to the fence and used tent pegs to secure that to the ground, but that was only on one short side of the fence and took ages, to do, and was a real PITA, this yard needs something on at least 2 but probably 3 sides, and the yard is quiet big, but not big enough to section off an area for the dogs
