  1. Ok so by the looks its going to be the first sunday of every month after lunch...2 or 3pm? We can set the next one for Nov 7th Now to decide if we are starting on northside or southside...as far as Im aware the last meet was on Southside correct?
  2. Looks like the dog has had training as an assistance dog, very cute though
  3. Keep em coming guys!! where is everyone? lol
  4. Im confused...are you locking him in the crate all the time? Crate training can be very good, but its not supposed to work like that, its more about providing a safe place for them to go when they want to...its not a jail for them How old is your puppy? if you have only had him a week then he is still adjusting to his new family, unless he has had crate training before you got him all you should be doing with the crate so far is rewarding him for going in, feeding his meals inside the crate, making it a happy place for him, you can lock him in at night time to confine him if you need, but remember to take him out to the toilet a couple of times
  5. lol, ive never even heard of those other places, but yeah Pine Rivers is nice and close, Tess is 9 do you think that will be ok? she loves agility and picked it up really quick so Im guessing she will be the same with flyball, Ill have to look it up
  6. which one are you feeding now? if the small breed version isnt available in stores yet Im sure they will be fine with the chicken and oatmeal, Tess doesnt have an issue with it and she refuses to eat it if she thinks its too big
  7. http://wwww.nutroproducts.com/natural-choi...dog-breeds.aspx http://wwww.nutroproducts.com/natural-choi...ce-oatmeal.aspx The first is only new by the looks, but its a small breed kibble, never tried it, the second is also only a small kibble, my JRT doesnt like big kibble either and she handles it fine
  8. Thankfully Ive never had to deal with them before, I use Advantix on my girls and so far we havnt experienced one, would the supermarket brand be suitable considering its only for a weekend? only because Advantix is quite expensive and they dont need it back home at all, its only protection for a few days ETA I dont actually know if they would be able to purchase those sorts of products there, I do know you can get the exelpet tick and flea at the supermarket though
  9. Or more specifically North Haven, my parents are going up next weekend with their dogs, they currently live in a tick free area so Im wondering if I should tell them to get a spot on for the weekend or not, what do you guys think?
  10. Ok so us Brisbanites are finally going to be organised with regular meets, the meets will be every first Sunday of the month and will alternate between Northside and Southside to keep it fair for everyone, so far we have no set parks so I think we will just try some different ones and see what we like Just some rules regarding the meets - If someone wants to suggest a different location (city/westside etc) thats fine BUT - There must be adequate parking for those who will be driving - The park must be a fairly decent size - The regular dogs must be fairly easy going - If you suggest (or request) a different location YOU MUST attend the meet! We try to go to a different park each time and note the parks that were really good and worth revisiting, so far our successful meets have been at -Kroll (Redcliffe) -Mermaid Waters (Gold Coast) 2011 June 5th - Northside Jack Pyle Park Between Gowan Rd & Snowberry St, Sunnybank Hills 2pm July 3rd - Southside August 7th - Northside September 4th - Southside October 2nd - Northside November 6th - Southside December 4th - Northside
  11. Lol, this is me, Ive seen Agility Dogs at competitions, but everytime I see him Im to chicken to say hello, I always find some excuse "oh he is about to do a run" or "nah he is busy talking right now" lol I am scary! I wouldn't say hello to me either. Lol, there we are heard it from the man himself Are you coming to the next PADS comp? thats the next one Ill be at Yep. Only bringing Xena and Wikki though. CK has the night off because we are flyballing at the Sunshine Coast the next day and he needs his beauty sleep. See you there. Ill be there with both my girls Is there a lot of flyball comeptitions up this way? i was looking on the AFA website and there is only one or something...unless Im just looking in the wrong place, Im thinking about starting Tess now that our agility is getting strong

  13. My first thought was a bite or sting, but I guess it could be the bite getting infected Either way Id be heading to the vet

  15. My mums Cavs live outside by day, they come inside when they get home from work
  16. Yes they do, and arent likely to be going back to kibble by the sounds of it, did you ever ask the NSW group about it for Mindy? Yes, but since they are sponsored by pedigree/advance they are pretty keen to keep using the dry. So was QLD, they gave them the flick lol
  17. For me I just knew Tess was ready, I just didnt know if I was, I was getting a lot of compliments at training, Id been along to a couple of competitions to see how it all works and to see what sort of courses Id be up for and I think that really helped, the beginner courses are really easy, not sure about other groups but ADAA allows you to run your dog as NFC (not for competition) which means you dont have to take the obstacles in order and you are allowed to take a tug on course with you. The only thing I will say is that if there is a high chance your dog will run off on you, then I wouldnt start competing yet. There is a little dog that runs against Tess, he ALWAYS runs away from his owner, its frustrating for everyone, I honesty think this little dog needs another 6 months to grow up some more before they try and compete him because he thinks the best game is to run away from dad
  18. aww your goldie is just adorable!! Ive heard of clicker training but not exactly sure how it works.. Where can you buy the clickers from? You can get clickers from petshops, I got mine from BigW, they are pretty easy to get hold of Take a look at these pages http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...l=clicker++help http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...l=clicker++help http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...l=clicker++help Are you going to enrol your girl in puppy preschool?
  19. Yes they do, and arent likely to be going back to kibble by the sounds of it, did you ever ask the NSW group about it for Mindy?
  20. I would also look into clicker training, if you arent familiar with the concept Ill try and find some good informative threads on here for you, but basically the click is a marker used to mark the correct behaviour at exactly the right time, puppy learn that the 'click' means a reward is coming, be that food, play or praise. Not everyone uses a clicker either some use a "yes" command, so their puppy learns that "yes" means a reward is coming As for toilet training I didnt have to do a lot of work for my Goldie, as she practically trained herself, but everytime you catch her going to the toilet in the right place say "yes wee wee" and give her loads of praise and rewards, if you do happen to catch her in the wrong place (inside) just ignore it, clean it up and hope you catch her earlier next time
  21. Yes, she still sheds but it makes the job much quicker and neater, all the hair comes out of the brush nice and easily in one piece instead of having a big mess everywhere
  22. Thanks Stormie that helps, I think Ill stick with a C3 for Lexi when she is up for her next one, does the cost vary much between the C3 and the C5?
  23. Hmm, didnt even know there was a C3, what is the difference in the C3 then?
