Agility Training Talk Thread
GoldenGirl85 replied to Vickie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
That depends on which association you join, I couldnt tell you ANKC, for ADAA if your dog is over 500mm (50cm) they are in the highest height category and would either jump 550 or 650mm depending on which programme you register them for -

Ahh, but can you walk your puppy on a flat collar now? Training aides are great to fix a problem, but they arent a fix on their own, you also need to teach puppy WHY we dont pull. It takes time, but at the end of the day its better than relying on a harness to do the job for you

I Overheard An Interesting Conversation
GoldenGirl85 replied to GoldenGirl85's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh I wouldnt have done that lol, if I was game Id have agreed with her just to let her believe it...I wonder where she got that idea from though... -
Sitting quietly on the train...as you do, there is always one group having a loud conversation, Im usually pretty good at blocking these conversations out and zoning in on my Kindle, however today my ears pricked These girls (early 20's Id guess) were talking about dog breeds, they are obviously bybers from the way they are talking, and seem to have a thing with bull breeds, one brings up the Shar pei, and another girl says "nah they're a closed breed you cant cross breed them its illegal" anyway, she goes on like this for quite a few minutes about how its illegal and if it happens "they gotta be killed" or something to that effect Well, one part of me is wondering if this is actually true...yet you see so many dogs who look 'part pei' I doubt it, but another part of me is thinking well if something has convinced this girl its illegal, and she obviously seems to respect this particular 'law' at least thats one breed this particular byber wont be ruining...makes you wonder doesnt it

No worries, Ill leave you guys to organise that one, Im away for the April meet

This link, of a breeder in Canada confirms the whole aussie to aussie breeding to get a smaller dog. http://members.shaw.ca/hitide/ Theirs may be smaller due to breeding smaller dogs together but the picture of the other one further back looks nothing like those ones or normal ones. Don't understand the need to get something then try and shrink it . Just buy a smaller normal one?????Don't mess with what isn't broken Cos everything is cuter in miniature?

I love how JRT pups have such enormous heads...in comparison to their bodies anyway
-
You could really market that...pocket sized Great Danes...lmao This dog and her sister (I have actually met them) was the first 'Aussie' I had ever seen, since meeting a lot more Ive wondered if the Mini Aussie was actually a recognised breed, they are just so unlike the regular sized dogs
