You're just making excuses because you think you're above the Law. If it's not a designated offleash area, keep your dog on lead - it's not bloody rocket science. No offence. Where is that like button when you need it? Shelley what everyone is trying to tell you, is that while you might think you have the worlds best behaved dog, she isnt perfect, there is a law in place to keep everyone in line, that law states that dogs must be kept on lead at all times it is away from its property unless its a designated off leash area designated areas are signed to say you can have your dog off lead, they dont need signs to say that your dog must be on lead anywhere else because quite frankly...its common sense, I actually read your intro thread after it was posted on here...Im shocked to find you're 26 because you have always come across like a teenager to me What people are also trying to say is that it only takes ONE time for your dog to get distracted and see something really interesting across the road and bolt for it...but of course you're dog wouldnt do that because she is perfect right? so does that mean a new law should be written just for you and Shelley? ummmm no

Perhaps...although they do use dogs and bitches from breeding programs in other countries, so its not as though they are constantly breeding the same stock over and over, they could easily bring in the colour if they wanted it...unless of course the other breeding programs dont use chocolate either...

Choice Of Breed For A Six Year Old
GoldenGirl85 replied to Zug Zug's topic in General Dog Discussion
Most dog clubs wont let a child under 10 or 12 be a dogs handler, perhaps they need to be told this because at this rate the dog will be 4 or 6 before its owner can actually take it to a class -
Yep, go to a local saddlery place and get a lunge line, much cheaper than a dog lead and its the exact same thing lol, if you dont have a saddlery place locally there is usually a lot available online

I noticed that about the QLD breeding program, they only have yellow and black

Well, I've taken offense. I have two very well behaved Fox Terriers and two JRTx. Your gross generalisation seriously shits me. To top it off you are braggiing about walking your dog off leash and breaking the law. Good one. I would take offence too if I was a JRT or Fox terrier owner. I've met quite a few Foxie's & JRT's & they have been lovely well mannered little dogs. I think it is really bad form to generalise them all as horrible dogs..especially on a Purebred dog forum, where we should be promoting our Pure breeds ..not bagging out a whole breed because you've met a couple you didn't like. I'm not sure what your favourite breed is, but I'm sure it would offend you if someone came on here & said that your breed in general was horrible, dominant & bossy, just because they met a few they didn't like. Im guessing too, that the generalisation of the breeds is "small, white and tan and maybe with some black patches" oooh it must be one of those dreaded Fox Terriers or a JRT... Makes me feel like shit when I have both a Retriever and a JRT, both of mine are well trained and well behaved...Ive had a few bad experiences with Greys before, and mentioned that I wasnt fond of Greys a couple of times on this forum (not calling them horrid, just what I said, that I wasnt fond of the breed) nobody took offence to that, but I wasnt putting the breed down at all. Ive since met some gorgeous Greys and I certainly take back any previous thoughts Ive ever had about them There is certainly a right way to say things...and i think thats the good thing about a forum...you can choose to re-read what you've typed before you hit that submit button

The sad thing is, that a quite few years ago (before I knew any better either) my SIL was telling me about a choc labrador she saw in the paper that she wanted to get and rehome 'because they're rare' She never did get the lab lol

Giving Joint Guard - Help Please?
GoldenGirl85 replied to violetmay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Honestly, if your dog is so fussy he needs to eat chicken from your hand (your words) it sounds like you need to do the 'bowl goes down for 15 mins' trick, put it down for 15 mins, if he doesnt eat, try again in the morning, and then that afternoon, he wont let himself starve It sounds like he has you well trained ETA I think this is a load of BS as well, dogs dont care if their meat is cooked, its better for them if it is raw -
A lot of people dont like retrievers, no need to say they are horrible dogs
-
I dont see why people find the need to walk their 'perfectly trained' dogs off leash...the amount of people I see with their dogs off leash but clip them on as soon as someone comes...that must surely take more effort than keeping your dog clipped on

I cant wait to get Tessas PJs from Meg

I dont know what has happened to amstaff, I PMed her ages ago asking about an order that I made last year (but then things went wrong lol) so I replaced it this year, she responded agreeing that yes it was getting to that time of the year and she will get onto it...and then she had her thread unlocked by Troy...and nothing since Hope she is ok
-
Have you got another puppy? Keira...not going to NSW, that was last week, this week Im up at Noosa lol

She is fine in a soft crate, she does claw at the mesh sometimes which is why I want something durable, if I was that worried about her getting out then yes I would lug around a wire one, but I'm not, I just need one that I know wont give easily if she does claw at it, she had never destroyed a crate yet and I don't see that happening
-
My boy (a mini schnauzer cross, so not a strong dog) ripped through the mesh of my k9 Royale crate. I was doing agility with this sister for the first time and he was crated - little bugger wouldn't have a bar of it and ate his way out! This is one of my concerns my JRT doesn't like to be crated, I know nothing is 100% stable but I want the strongest possible
-
What did you find difficult about it?

So sad If you want to look into handing him over to a rescue organisation try the Australian Working Dog Rescue, I know a few people who foster with them and they do a lot of good work for working breeds, they dont rehome to pet homes, only sporting or working homes and only to people who are knowledgable about working breeds Good luck with your decision
-
What do you mean? the current crates already have doors in the front, one side, and the top...or are you not talking about the doors? No I mean how you have the flaps that can roll down and cover the doors - it's the reason why I bought the K9 Royale crate (GREAT crate too btw) because Daisy does better when she's totally covered. Oooh good because that was basically the deciding factor between the two...Ill email him
