  1. What makes her think that Shelley is happy being fat? I'm yet to see a happy overweight dog, they all look miserable and don't want to move...which is understandable considering the weight they're lugging around Show her these photos of my retriever, this is a happy, healthy retriever https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/163212_10150094096528025_535128024_6016702_7715035_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/165101_10150094093998025_535128024_6016696_5105725_n.jpg
  2. You seem to be blaming a lot of people for your dogs being overweight...your aunty, it was your mum earlier...if these people are infact the ones overfeeding your dogs you need to put your foot down and refuse to let them give the dogs any food I think 3kgs is too much weight for Shelley to lose in such a short period of time, but if she is still getting a balanced diet I guess its ok, as for the chi, 200g in a week is fine, they are only small dogs so keep that in mind. The chi lost 4% of his body weight, and Shelley lost 7% of her weight, you can't compare the two unless you look at the percentage lost, and I think the chi is on the right track there
  3. I get the same comments about Lexi, everyone thinks she is underweight...Id like to see a lot of Labs and Goldens move like this though
  4. My pup is 17 months old...nearly 18 months, and I'm only just starting to feel a bond with her, I never regretted getting her, but I just didn't feel any sort of connection with her, we weren't getting very far with training because we weren't communicating on the same level. Ive been getting some advice from another lady at my agility club and she has been helping us, at first it was because she looked after my dogs for a week while I was away, and she got some amazing work out of my girl
  5. When does payment need to be in by? I wont get paid until Thursday next week
  6. Ooo ooo, I saw an Amstaff cross Amirite? Don't forget the Irish Setters, Jap Spitz, someone said there was a Flat Coat Retriever but I never saw one And I saw a Manchester Terrier later that day at the beach, I was so impressed I recognised her breed I've only seen the photos of Amypie's Trixie in her siggy lol
  7. I didn't notice puppies, but Hugo could easily pass for an adult, I doubt they would even check TBH, unless they were obviously pups of course, but even then who knows Dju you would have heard about it from me if you let Hugo go on that equipment, pups aren't allowed to even start training until they're 12 months old minimum, Lexi is 17 months and she isn't starting until July! If you're interested in agility thats great, but don't rush it, you can cause big physical and psychological problems if you put pups on equipment. There is a lot of work you can do with pups to prepare them for agility, but they shouldn't be even LOOKING at equipment until at least 8-12 weeks into their training Ah, okay, I didn't know that it had an age limit Like obviously you wouldn't take a tiny 8 week old puppy onto the equipment but I didn't know about the 12 month thingo They need to finish growing physically (and mentally) before they start that sort of work, while smaller dogs are fully grown earlier, they need to draw a line somewhere, and the majority of dogs that do agility are med-large dogs, BCs mostly, and they wont be finished growing until at least 12 months. On saying that they can't compete until 18 months so there is no real advantages to starting their training too early anyway
  8. Amber totally refused to eat Nutro. There goes that idea out the window lol
  9. JulesP have you tried Nutro? thats supposed to be really good for rashy dogs
  10. Nope sorry...did they get a shot of Lexi in her smexy backpack? lol
  11. Email sent, I complained about the agility equipment, the lack of water on the walk, and the lack of space for such a big event

  13. Aww thanks, Lexi tolerates it surprisingly well lol, I'm going to be using it to build up a bit of muscle tone. I got a lot of comments about it, all good thank god...there was someone who said she looks like a pack horse but Ill take that as a compliment that my dog is so well trained she will tolerate it lol Wow I'm even more glad I didn't go now, I don't think I could have stopped myself from saying something seeing that Im doing up an email to them now...they had the dogs on lead which only makes it worse, lots of children handling them, I can only imagine if the dog decided to bail off the wrong side of the dog walk or A-frame, the poor dog would get hurt from jumping off full height equipment and the kid would get a concussion if they didn't let go of the lead! The more I think about it the more furious I get ...it looked like ADAA equipment too I'd hate to think there was an ADAA person there allowing that to happen
  14. That was probably the ladybird people, we had plain red shirts with Dol Doggies written on the back. If you saw a Golden Retriever with a blue backpack that was me with Lexi lol I've never been before, I would have thought they would have a bigger area for everyone considering they've been running this for a number of years now they should have a good idea of what sort of numbers to expect I also didn't like the fact that they were letting people take their dogs over full sized agility equipment its so dangerous when you haven't trained your dog to take these obstacles...Im seriously considering putting in a complaint about that
  15. Great to catch up with you too Flick, so wasn't expecting you to pop up when you did lol
  16. 5th, Ive got an agility seminar on all weekend and then a competition on the Monday
  17. Nudgee beach looks like a goer Even it isnt a nice beach day there is a fenced off off leash area next to the beach, and another one just down the road if the one next to the beach is too full Im thinking we make it for around 12-12.30 because its getting dark and cool so early now, that way the dogs will have a chance to dry off in the sun before it gets too cold Sound good?
  18. Ok, what time is everyone arriving? I wont be hard to miss Ill have the GR wearing a blue backpack lol...she's going to love me lmao
  19. What a sly little bitch she is lol She will flat out refuse to drink out of this bowl even if she is dying of thirst over night...like if she has had kibble for dinner and she hasn't had a drink before she goes to bed, she will get up and gulp water in the morning, but this arvo I spied her drinking out of this very bowl...my dog is strange
  20. Well there is the Parson Russell Terrier...also commonly known as a 'long legged JRT'
  21. Ive got a Ruffwear backpack, the pack is removable and I use the harness quite a bit, Im happy with it...in fact Miss Lexi might fashion her backpack at the Million Paws Walk tomorrow lol, she can carry my wallet and water bottle
  22. I just sent off an email to get a sample pack to try...I think I emailed the wrong QLD distributor but I put my location in the email so I guess she will forward that onto the Ipswich person. I just hope this doesn't disagree with Lexi like Advance did
  23. I had thought of that, but she is only in a little 24" crate, so a bowl like that will take up quite a bit of floor room. The hanging bowl was good because it was narrow, but deep so it was hung up out of the way, didnt take up floor space and she couldn't knock it over
  24. Sorry to hijack, but does anyone know where I can get a coat that will carry an 'in training' patch? Id prefer a bigger patch than is available with these harnesses
