  1. If it makes you feel any better, the latest dogslife magazine has a great article promoting bull breeds
  2. Our last discussion regarding that episode http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/204636-is-it-anti-apbt-night/page__p__4800418__hl__bondi__fromsearch__1#entry4800418
  3. I work for a pathology company, and often do home visits for those who can't go out to have their blood test done, one of the rules for patients is that if they have a dog, the dog must be locked up prior to us being let in the house, we make allowances for the time this takes, especially considering most of our patients are elderly and move slowly. This rule is often ignored, and TBH most of our patients have gorgeous dogs, so it doesn't worry us. We often have to let ourselves in someones backyard in order to get into their house, that is just an accepted part of our job, but that being said, if a dog is barking at the gate...no we won't just enter, unless we know said dog That said, you do have a right to choose who comes to your house, if she obviously doesn't want to go to your house, and you don't want her there, it will make life a lot easier for her supervisor if there is an agreement that she doesn't go to your house...because I can guarantee that every time she goes to your house her supervisor is getting a detailed report each time
  4. There IS a massive difference too!!! (My ex was a "yeah, I like dogs" sort, not the better sort ;) ) Well...so far so good ;)
  5. I joined a matchmaking service, but before I signed on the dotted line I ensured my matchmaker knew I could only date another dog person... Not someone who likes dogs, but a dogPERSON lol
  6. Thunderstorm can you take him swimming? that will give him exercise without stress on his joints
  7. My JRT's left patella suddenly started luxating after I took her to see a chiropractor that came highly recommended, I've since found out he has no real qualifications, yet he is very popular on here and within the dog sport world. Ive had x-rays done and my vet said it was grade 2, and that I should consider surgery...well thats out, I simply can't afford it, and I think the 6-8 weeks of crate rest would kill her, so surgery was out as soon as it was mentioned Either way, it was at the point where we couldn't play fetch without it moving, it wasn't causing her any pain...although she does have a very high pain threshold I've noticed that since keeping her on joint guard she hasn't had any trouble with it for a few months now, I'm hoping it won't get any worse if I keep her on the joint guard and try and prevent high jumping (she is a JRT afterall lol)
  8. Hey guys, I've spoken to Lillysmum, neither of us can make the July meet, so feel free to make it a Southside one
  9. Large kibble did nothing for my Golden bolting her food. What stopped her was spreading her kibble on the lawn and letting her go for it
  10. Dju you need to do the change slowly so he doesn't get an upset tummy
  11. Well if we get one and cross it with a poodle...
  12. Yes I got rubella after being vaccinated for it, I had my antibodies checked late last year and I was surprised to find I had immunity, after having 2 vaccines thoughout my childhood and having the virus once in between the shots lol
  13. But there are bad owners in many common breeds, yet not all common breeds have been mentioned in this thread... There are two horrible labs in my area, they're great distraction training for Lexi, but I rarely go near them, they start growling and snapping whenever another dog walks past, then they start snapping at each other. These labs are FAT, and very poorly socialised and trained
  14. Definitely contact Nekhbet, she is very knowledgeable and can give you some good solid advice
  15. Awesome, is Kroll easy for you to get to? Its on the Peninsula just past Kippa Ring, I think its going to be too cold to go swimming for a while
  16. I'm another that finds obedience work boring, I tried a class once and was so disgusted by the way things were run I insisted on a refund on my membership and never went back lol I was planning to do some obedience work with Lexi before we start agility training, but she is going to be starting next month anyway, so I'd rather not confuse her with the different styles of training.........the is a very simple girl lol
  17. Are you getting her from a breeder? they will usually give you an information package which includes what to feed, how much and when
  18. I can't wait for it! Is everyone going to get told what to bring on the day? or is it just the standard crate, treats and toy?
  19. Thanks Huski, Im not sure if she will come, its on the same day as an agility comp, it wasn't an option for me lol, i think Lexi will benefit so much from this, but my friend might see it another way Oh, I passed your email address onto her, figured that would be ok seeing as its your new professional email addy
  20. Anyone know if there is still places for this? I have a friend who is interested
