  1. My parents have nice green grass, and it even survived a JRT lol, but I don't know what they use, they grew it themselves and was a mixed seed...I know one seed was kikuyu
  2. Bow to thy master.....lmao BTW...can't wait for the Metro seminar, I'm even cutting my holiday short to make sure I'm there!
  3. And Goldens...Lexi is going to get me good one day, its like they only have 2 gears...'stop' and 'full throttle' lol
  4. Get a bigger car For the dogs of course lol
  5. Company / Person's name: Dogs On Track Contact: Jane Harper Website: http://www.dogsontrack.com.au/ Area Serviced: Brisbane and Sunshine Coast
  6. I'm sorry, I know its a serious topic, but this made me giggle. I have a vision of a dog frantically trying to open the car door with its paws! Seriously though, why would you need to? (mind you we have automatic central locking so its not really an issue for me.) And to answer the main question, my GR goes in the hatch in the back of my SUV. She lies down and waits for release... Locking doors? no, locking windows? big yes lol, Tess has worked out to put her foot on the button
  7. Mine are in harnesses on the back seat, I have been considering getting a 'booster chair' for Tess, but I'm not exactly sure if that will make her better in the car or worse lol
  8. Taking the $$$ out of it, which crate do you prefer and why? you can PM me if you like. I bought a K9 Pro crate for my JRT, but they're out of stock of larges, so I'm considering getting a K9+ for Lexi because K9 Pro said it could be a few months until the larges are back in stock
  9. Yeah I think this is a great idea too but whenever I go to oppy's and have a look I can never find any without eyes or noses or bean fillings... What's wrong with eyes and noses? All of Hugo's soft toys have eyes and/or noses. And can't you just cut them off? Im guessing its a worry incase the dog chews them off and swollows them. Yeah my dog destroys soft toys and would likely swallow the eyes or something... my mum just said to try to get ones without the eyes and nose. I could just remove them but that's a lot of effort and would probably result in fraying and then he would just be able to destroy it even quicker... This, Id rather find toys that are already suitable then risk a perforated bowel because she ate something she wasn't meant to, those things usually have metal discs behind them to keep their place, its not really something I want her eating Mon I go to the lifeline at Brendale, they have 4 big bins of toys and you just sort through them, I can usually fill a basket easy enough, most of the toys have individual prices, but if you buy a whole basket they usually just say $3 or $4 for the lot
  10. The best toys I have ever gotten Lexi....are soft toys from lifeline lol, I go through their bins and find any that don't have hard eyes/noses, that don't have beans as the filling or anything inside that might get stuck (like a music box etc), I fill up a shopping basket and they only charge me like $3 for the lot!!! who cares if they get destroyed because they cost next to nothing, they're her favourites by far
  11. In the spirit of fairness can you make that random.org thing pick Boonie next please ;) Nope...its MY turn lol, even todays comment says so lol
  12. I use Interceptor too, I prefer to treat fleas if the problem arises so its much more economical for me to use Interceptor, it is also safe to give every 6 weeks rather than every 4, that makes a 6 tablet packet last 9 months instead of 6
  13. No...why would it? the dog could still climb out if they wanted to, or fly out if you have an accident
  14. I know the hydrotherapy people in Morayfield personally, Marion is very knowledgeable on movement etc, I've never taken my dogs to her for therapy but training under her for agility I'm impressed with what I saw
  15. There are some good deals on eBay, but do be wary of quality. Some are great, but mostly you get what you pay for. If you want to save a bit then look around for a second hand crate. I've bought a crate from that supplier before, they are very good quality, I much prefer that one to the more expensive 'life stages' one from Pet Barn!! the only downside is the steel tray, it makes the crate heavier than if it had a plastic tray I have a 36" for my Golden, its the perfect size for her, she is on the smaller side for a Golden though
  16. There is no signs of rubbing, and the main one I use is the cotton one, so that wouldn't be zapping her
  17. I don't think so... The little one is nylon, the one with the pack is a cotton (I think its cotton) ruffwear and has covered straps etc, looks like it should be comfortable enough I haven't tried putting it on her outside the house, considering she shuts down every time I pick it up I doubt it would work, I guess it can't hurt to try though Why not? Once its on she is ok, well after a few hesitant steps she is ok, but I don't want to force it on her, I want her to be happy to have it put on, which is why I've stopped using it
  18. Lexi used to love wearing her harness (it meant the car) as she got older I started adding her backpack onto the harness (empty) for walks and she was fine with that, then I started adding bits of weight to the packs, again she was fine. I have two different harnesses and she shuts down when either of them come out, however she is still happy to have her collar put on Now all of a sudden she shuts down every time I bring the harness out, I don't know what has caused the sudden change in behaviour, I can only assume it must have been something to do with the pack, but the changes were all gradual, so I'm not sure Anyway, how should I go about training her to reaccept the harness? I have been clipping her into the car by a collar, but I really would prefer to use a harness because its safer, I've been leaving them lying around the house, and putting treats on them so she has to go near them (not that she avoids them unless I pick one up), and I've also been treating her while holding them, but as soon as I go to touch her chest with it she shuts down, by touching her I just mean the harness in my hand, to rub it on her fur, I haven't attempted to put it on her for a couple of weeks now Has anyone else got any ideas? I was thinking about trying the 'look at that' game, but seeing as how I've gotten nowhere in the last two weeks I figured I'd best ask for advice before any more damage is done, she is a very sensitive dog so I really don't want to make the situation any worse
  19. I'm guessing its already been mentioned in here, but I'm not reading all the way through to find it! lol Is there any retrieving training in Brisbane? I'd love to get Lexi into the sport she was bred to do, but Google has failed me
  20. OMG I totally forgot about this, I just went through the checkout but it has totalled $66 for 3 books, but when I emailed Julie she said the combined total is $60, how do I fix the postage?
  21. Neither, Sporn Head Halter has control from the back, its much better than both the two mentioned above
  22. Add for QLD, Lenards at Kippa Ring Peninsula Fair, chicken frames 30c each, minced frames $1/kg (fresh daily, and its always in stock) great service and friendly staff too, I go way out of my way to get my chicken from them for their prices and service
  23. Terra means earth, definition from dictioinary.com Basically they're typically a small hunting dog
  24. I had not long gotten Lexi, and was doing some random googling, and I stumbled across DOL...requested to join and while I was waiting for approval I did a lot of reading, I learned a lot from DOL lol
