  1. Thankyou everyone, although it makes me cry to read your replies, it does help me, to share with others that understand. Things got so much worse last night...as if loosing Dolly wasn't enough, I have a 3 yr old grandson who is a huge part of our lives, my daughter is not with his father as he is abusive in a big way. He rang us last night and told me he was going to the soli today to stop Ryan from coming to our house because I have lost 2 dogs to snakes...I really lost it, I went right off my tree..which didn't help as I had a huge panic attack and ended up in hospital with neck pains, high blood pressure and not able to breath properly. All is ok, my heart is alright they think, just have to have a holter metre for a day to check my heart over a longer period. I have been sitting here today trying to gain strength from the people that have lost so many loved ones in the floods last week, makes my lot look so small..

  3. Don.t know why I am even posting here, cause I lost my darling Dolly to a snake today, she wasn't even 12months old and we bought her to replace my Jack Russell who was killed by a snake 12months ago... I can't own another dog and my husband won't let me after this happening twice. we live in a normal suburban backyard. clean tidy no rubbish....tried to lock her on the deck but my sons dog skip a rescue dog kept breaking down the deck to get off. Everyday for the not even year I had her, i would come home and fear that the same fate would happen to Dolly and what happened to Tilly and today my nightmare was realised. I can't describe how I even feel...so distraught, my chest is aching and don't know what to do with myself. Our lawn mower man found her and rang me, the only thing I am thankful for, cause when I lost Tilly I found her and even now I still have that vision. Dolly helped me heal after I lost Tilly and now she is gone...I loved them both too much,
  4. Hey Huga, I looked at the 105mm today, I was set on getting it after research but found it too heavy for me...my camera is only small though (D5000) and the balance wasn't great, so now I need to find a lighter macro All the photos look great, but then they always do..
  5. That is so sweet, but I'm puzzled too - what is on his head ? Very nice, good sharp shot of the helicopter Oh poor boy Love the bottom left one :D priceless x2 Dolly goes to doggy daycare and they had an open day with dog dressups...we tried to make her a bismark helmut, you know the type the germans wore pre 1st world war... but it didn't turn out great as you can see. Anyway by the time she got on the red carpet to display her "costume" which was only the stupid hat....she strutted down as if she thought she was just it, was hilarious and brought the house down...dumb hat. Bit embarrassed now.
  6. Wow you very game...you would think the Muggles comment would have lightened it a bit!!
  7. Some gorgeous photos, don't know how you guys upload such great quality. Some puny little ones from me. Waiting Puzzle or really Puzzled Pop
  8. Well I still can't even work out how to get my photo's up properly on this site, thought I had tried everything reducing size, uploading from flickr to no avail. So I am complete failure, would have loved to join the challenges properly.
  9. Have looked into Doggy Day Care for one of the days she is alone? Just a thought..

  11. I am not too good photographing dogs with the lens wide open, so have chosen forks. 35mm f1.8
  12. I am really lousy at uploading a file, mine never come out like anyone elses Great photo's by everyone, have been lurking and looking at all the wonderful efforts for a while now.
  13. Upset a co-worker. She came to me last week saying her 24 yr old son want a Mini Schnauzer, she knew I had one and asked where she should go to get one. I told her don't go to a pet shop or buy from a paper, explained why etc. Lead her to the Dogzonline site, guided her through the breeders. Explained she may have to wait and what she would expect to pay. Asked her about her situation, she has never ever owned a dog. So what did she do? Bought from the trading post. Bargain $500, puppy just fell into their hands, so lucky they are, they were delivering puppy to Sydney and the sale fell through when they rang...perfect, meant to be. Breeder gives little info..no diet sheet, no worming details, co-worker doesn't even know what Microchipping is so not sure if puppy is or not. Oh he is vaccinated just before he travelled up, breeder says don't let him go to a park for 2 weeks! Baby is 8 weeks old! Told her he will be fine to sleep outside, day and night! Said just to leave dry food out to self feed! Someone is home all day at her house except for one hour. Oh dear...by the time I had finished lecturing her she was almost in tears saying I don't want to know anymore! What big mouth I have. By the way they will probably make really good dog owners, love this boy to death. How will I hold my tongue!!!
  14. I can't get into it, the link isn't working.
  15. Probably best to keep your dog on a lead in an off lead park/beach. I had my dog and a puppy under control off the lead, when we were approached by a dog....Our older dog warned off the dog who was checking out the puppy, with a growl and he was immediately pinned to the ground by the other dog. Luckily he is no fighter and just gave in. The owners just watched and that left me to drag the dog off my old fella, I know I risked being bitten but it was instinct to protect my dog. I immediately put leads on both my dogs, so that I could have more control over any other issue. The other owners just continued to let their dog run off lead. My dog had no visible marks although I noticed he was a bit tender around the neck so was probably bruised. I didn't enter into any conversation with the owners, except, they did say that their "girl" had never done that before. I noticed that when they walked off they were abused by an onlooking couple. So was I at fault because my dog growled?
  16. If the dog is suspect, should you not keep it on a lead? I think this person is a thug and maybe loves the idea of having an aggressive dog. Maybe the owner is the reason why the dog may be a problem. I think his reaction to you is threatening.
  17. I have to vote no. As a previous owner of JRT who loved to hunt, actually lived to hunt, she hunted and was killed by a snake early in the year. I now have a mini Schnauzer who I discourage from hunting, thankfully she doesn't seem to have high prey drive.
  18. I don't think people with aggressive dogs have are entiltled have their dog offleash in public, even if it is an offleash park. Perhaps while there is no one around, but certainly not in the presence of potential victims... Though obviously, I can't prove his dog was aggressive as there way no way we were going to get close enough to find out. I do think it is just a disaster waiting to happen as he clearly had no intention of ensuring the safety of others (that is if the dogs IS actually aggressive). There are not many dogs with perfect recall, and i have to say that a lot of the dogs that do go to this park have very little recall. When we did go to a separate area, an 8-10 week old cocker puppy rushed up to my dog and would not return to the owner. The owner started walking off and I actually thought for a minute there that they were going to leave me with the puppy!!! I had to warn them not to go near the aggressive dog because i am sure that would have ended badly :D Oh well, I guess I can't really do anything, which is a bit frustrating. It is a sad world when people have to revert to a violent intention. I would have taken offence is someone told me he may rip my dogs head off! Way over the top if you ask me. We seem to have to put up with threats in our world too often, as others said what is there to report, gone are the days people can be reported for bad language and offensive behaviour. It shouldn't make us immune though, so I don't blame you for being shocked, decent people should be.
  19. This is my old rescue dog Skip, he always wants more food, hence "the sad eyes"
