Thank you both, it really has left me feeling so happy today..despite having pulled an all nighter trying to console 2 upset 15year olds lol -
I have a bit of a mini brag here I don't know if many of you are familiar with the story of Courage the GSD , a horrific case of abuse and neglect to a beautiful dog. Well I have a You Tube channel, and decided to highlight Courage's story, as being a German Shepherd his story was close to my heart. The Video I made is one which is a personal fave..I don't really make any brilliant video's, just ones for fun. This one however told the message of Courage. Anyway today I woke up to find a reply from a volunteer with the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange Country ( the group who cared for Courage) and he wanted to share the video on their Facebook site German Shepherd Rescue Orange County He also told me that Courage is happy, healthy and in a much loved home Just a silly brag really, but it has left me feeling so good and so touched by the way words that he said, and the response. To me all animal abuse is wrong, but when it is against ''MY'' breed a breed I have loved and been obsessed with since birth..it becomes ''personal''

Sorry to hear about this. Hope that some one can help, and that your dog recovers quickly

Why do you need to use a transport company if you are flying with the dog? Just take it excess baggage and drop the dog and crate off at the freight terminal before you check in. They will tell you how far before the flight the dog needs to be there. If I fly with a dog I also watch them load it from the tarmac before actually getting on the plane and watch it beign unloaded at the other end. I just booked her onto my flight, we are hiring the crate through Jet Pets.

OMG I would be furious. She put a DVD which can be hired for what a couple of dollars over her Dog? What a rude person. -
I can show you what I did earlier this year for Brennan's First Birthday Please excuse the slight mistake with date towards the end of the video. We had fun, I spoilt her, she had a cake the night before ( Doggy Cake yum)

I'd be absolutely furious. I hope the pups are okay. This has me worried as I am about to fly from Adelaide to Brisbane with my pup using Dogtainers. I hope they don't screw up

Beautiful story, Tapau thank you for your kindness to this young man. I have an American friend who left on the 13th of August for a year in Afghanistan. She did not have to go, in fact her job was offered to some one else. Nicole volunteered to go because the soldier they had offered it to had a family. Nic did not want a family to be split up, not when she herself is a single lady. Her selflessness is an inspiration to me as is the bravery of soldiers of all allied nations. I have been emailing her daily, and will be sending a care package to her for Christmas. The hardest thing she is finding is missing her beloved 3 year old GSD. She has worked alongside Aussie troops in past service and says they are amongst her favourite to serve with due to their work ethic and general attitude. So to anyone who served/ has some one serving/ knows some one who served..

Always want a puppy. Nothing beats a GSD pup

I know this has likely been done so many times on here, but wanted to ask for my own circumstances. I am moving to Brisbane from Adelaide on October 21st and am wanting to know which preventative is my best option. Brennan will be 18months when we move to Brisbane ( she was born April 25th 2009.). She has been on Advocate her entire life and she has done well on it. Every 3 months she gets a worming tablet for tape worm from the vets. Friends in Brisbane use Tick Stop which you put in the dog's water and they have been quite happy with that for their 2 Cavalier's. I am really in need of help to as we have never had to worry about Ticks before. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Bad spelling, and grammar does put me off to a certain degree. I am very wary of the Gumtree website. Some of the dog's I have seen advertised on that site have been positively sick looking. Also, some of the re-homing advertisements are sad too. I saw one advertising a German Shepherd female, a month younger then my own girl. The reasons they gave for giving her away were ''not enough time to spend with her'' and claimed that she had certificate to show she was desexed but no papers. Another advertisement was giving away their 18month old GSD because he jumped their 2metre high fence whilst they were at work.

South Australia-- Adelaide I don't know whether this has already been posted, but I thought I would share anyway. Windsor Gardens Caravan Park allows dogs. Windsor Gardens is approximately a 15-20 minute drive from the CBD and is conveniently located close to the North East and Eastern suburbs. The rates don't look to be too bad either. I have not stayed here, but I will be staying here overnight before I fly out to Brisbane so can come back and edit this post again in October http://www.goseeaustralia.com.au/caravan_p.../accommodation/

Brennan's is of course the theme to after all I am obsessed enough to name her after the lead character :D The other song I sing to her is from ''500 Days Of Summer'' aka Best flash mob ever

Yep I have a reactive dog, and she is a big dog too. So when I see another dog out on a walk, or kids getting out of school...my whole thought is how to get my dog through the situation without setting her back training wise. It has nothing to do with the other person, or the kids' all happy to get out of school. It's more to do with keeping my dog from reacting and keeping her under control.

Glad everything ended alright. The dogs were looking great at the end of the show I love how the woman described the dog as a big bear...because that's all my dog is...a big sooky teddy bear

I saw the advert for the show, that it featured a GSD and knew I could not watch it. I just feel too sad. I find it hard to not take it personal, especially when it is a German Shepherd being abused. I have loved GSDs since before I was one years old. That's an almost 28 year love affair. To hear that there are people out there who are not showing their own dog ( or cat) the love and care they deserve is disgusting ;) . It's hard to watch, especially when your own dog is lying content at the foot of your bed snoring.

She is gorgeous congrats

When I was born my Mum had a GSD x Kelpie who was more GSD called Sheba. Sheba was the most loving dog, she was beautiful, gentle, and just had a lovely nature. Sadly Sheba passed away when I was 5-6. I begged and begged Mum for another GSD but she said no. Instead we got a Blue Heeler which was a give away to good home. Still I begged for a GSD. Every week it was the same question, every birthday and Christmas. I watched movies, and read books about GSDs. If I saw a GSD in the street I would be in heaven..and had to stop to marvel at the Beautiful breed. I used to have a dog book and spent hours just reading all the book had to say about German Shepherds. I wrote stories about owning GSDs. I also developed an interest in Siberian Huskies too and for many years thought I would have a GSD and a Siberian Husky. However as I got older the interest in Siberian Husky's lessened and I focused on my GSD. Fast forward 20 years after Sheba passed away to June 23rd 2009. I finally brought home my dream GSD Brennan. She is everything I wanted and more. I still find myself stopping and gazing at other German Shepherds...even with my own GSD at the end of the leash German Shepherds really are my heart breed. It may be breed bias but there is nothing quite like a German Shepherd..they really are special

Great news, I was going to suggest taking your friend to the local pound or shelter and see all the unwanted dogs other BYB's have created maybe you still can just to be sure. I will be actually, I have collected some donations for the Animal Welfare League and she has agreed to go with me to donate them.
