  1. Sleep well, beautiful Brianna - it is very clear you were deeply loved. Hold on to the lovely memories, WendyH, they will make you smile in times to come.
  2. Sleep well, Hamlet - you were loved. Pers, always so hard to let them go, thinking of you.
  3. I'm so sorry to hear, Tralee. Never easy making the hard call. Sleep well, Sooki.
  4. And what sort of "temperament" test will they use? We all know that some of these tests are epic fails.
  5. Love the way she sleeps! You are in for days (and nights) filled with fun - enjoy it. :)
  6. Doesn't get much easier, does it? Thinking of you.
  7. Now there will be two angels to look after your family. Thinking of you, Nic.
  8. Run well and strong again, Flossie. Thanks for giving Flossie care and dignity at the end, Lillysmum.
  9. Still a bit of a mystery, I guess you just wait and see. If you are still concerned it might be very worthwhile talking to your vet about the low dose dexamethasone suppression test (the 8 hour one). My dog had this one. I think you mentioned that you didn't want to leave her at the vet - maybe you could stay with her for some of the time? Much as I didn't want it to be Cushings, once you know you can make decisions and proceed with treatment. I found I had to keep myself informed (this thread is good for that!) and I learnt a lot in a short time and then keep asking the vet questions. I sincerely hope it is something that has fixed itself and she returns to normal. It's the not knowing that is so hard.
  10. Sounds like you gave her the best life. For "not a dog person" your Dad did very well! I hope your happy memories with Inka will make you smile and give you comfort. Sleep well, Inka.
  11. I have been wondering how she is, Jules. Good luck with the results on Monday and hopefully finding out exactly what it is and how to treat it. What a worrying 6 weeks you have had.
  12. No tummy issues at all and she seems to enjoy her food a bit more than she did, that is the food she is allowed to have with pancreatitis.
  13. That must have been hard getting the lights, Sheridan. Always so many reminders when they go, unfortunately. Just wanted you to know that the Holistic Select food that you told me about has been a hit with my Stella. Maybe it is the stronger smell but she seems to enjoy it more and is doing very well on it. I am sure she is moving into the old dog stage, but all okay at the moment.
  14. What a wise but cheeky face he has. The oldies are my favourites too.
  15. Sleep well, Oi, your work is done now. So sorry to hear, Persephone.
  16. What a lucky dog to have made his way to your place. Sleep well, Rogan, you were a stunning boy.
  17. Oh, Sheridan, I am so sorry. Grumpy was a poster boy for the oldies and you helped lots of us with your old dog advice, the positive way you treated him, and the funny stories. Sleep well Grumpy, you were well and truly loved and you will be missed. Hugs to you Sheridan, you did your very best.
  18. A huge vote of thanks to all those who will give up their time to be on duty over Christmas in our pounds, shelters, rescue organisations and the breeders who will be looking after litters. It never stops and many of you give countless hours and money to make life better for Australia's animals. Thank you - I know what you do.
  19. Makes you wonder what is really in some of these foods, doesn't it?
  20. Many thanks, that's very helpful. I will have a look at the Holistic Select.
  21. I might add that we now have Pet Barn in my town so the choice of dry food is a lot better, if anyone has any suggestions.
  22. Sheridan, Could you please tell me what dry food Grumpy is on - I think you said Grumpy also had pancreatitis issues? My 11 and a half year old (the one in my signature, Stella,) is on Hills active longevity small bites which is controlling her pancreatitis but she's a bit sick of it. Just thought I'd try another one but unsure which one would be best. I do give her chicken without the skin, veges and tuna in springwater and brown rice as a bit of a change sometimes but I really need a suitable dry food. Thank you for any information!

    Fern

Sleep well, little Fern, you were loved. Hugs to you Chicken.
  24. This concerns me to hear that there is now a shelter - where did the land come from, who pays, who operates it on a daily basis and of more concern, are dogs pulled out of pounds and kept here for goodness knows how long? I really wish more people in the general public would educate themselves about what happens to dogs when they leave a pound and think with their heads, not purely on an emotional basis. A happy ending is not always a reality.
