Time helps a little Lhok, and the memories get a bit easier. Just try to remember your boy with a smile, not a tear. Thinking of you.

Far too many have their own agendas. I don't mind being criticised for my rescue effort should it be warranted however from certain quarters on this forum, it isn't appropriate. Just because you own a dog, know a dog, do the odd pound drive, are paid to work with dogs, read books about rescue work in other countries and so on - doesn't give you any idea of how hard it is to run an ethical rescue group. I put countless hours (pretty much all my spare time) into helping people keep their pets, train their pets apart from rescuing with my own money but some people still like to take aim. I have a very, very low opinion of those people. I don't mind if they take aim, but they do it in groups, and without having the backbone to put their own name to it. I had the dubious pleasure of confronting my detractor and shook her hand after introducing myself, she didn't know what to say and couldn't get away fast enough, after she realised she was talking to a real person. At least Debra has the guts to put her own name to all she does. Maybe she is not perfect and has made mistakes, but who hasn't. At least she has put her money where her mouth is.

And I quite agree. It's funny how on this forum and other internet sites, some people love to cut down those people and organisations who are helping to change the perception and treatment of animals. Let's save our anger for those who mistreat animals and profit from their mistreatment. Having been one of the targets of social media at one time by someone who didn't even know me, but attacked my efforts to help animals, it is never okay to hide behind a keyboard and sprout venom as some do. They would never say it face to face or without the backup of the anonymous army. I don't know if Debra Trantor did what some are saying, but I do know she has done a truckload of good for a lot of animals, possibly at the expense of following a better life for herself. Maybe we can celebrate that instead.

I also remember and also the DOL "waiting room" while you were in hospital, with all the constant good thoughts and prayers from DOLers. Adding my thoughts today as well. The rainbow photo is very special.

Being Asked For A Pet Related Donation
stellnme replied to Chris the Rebel Wolf's topic in General Dog Discussion
It doesn't take much to politely decline - never a need to be rude about it. Also, it's best to bear in mind that those doing the spruiking are not members of the organisation, for example, those collecting for the RSPCA are like call centre employees, they don't belong to the organisation, they are just employed to collect donations. Petbarn collect for lots of organisations including local ones. If you don't want to donate to anyone, it is very easy to say, "No, thank you", and keep walking. -
Sleep well, beautiful Jessie. What a lovely girl.

Oh Rozzie, I'm so sorry. How blessed were you to have had such a beautiful boy for so many years. He will live on in your heart and memories. Sleep well, Columbus.

So sad for her to go so young. Sleep well, sweet Abbie.

Petitioning Gympie Regional Council
stellnme replied to Mila's Mum's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
If council know how to make a whole shelter of dogs "no noise", I would certainly like to have that information! -
He looks like a cat who knew he was a much loved part of your family. Sleep well, beautiful boy, you will live on in your family's hearts and memories.

It's not bickering, it's called ethical rescue practice. I see a lot of 'broking' dogs in rescue on DOL & I guess it happens elsewhere online, too - I am not on facebook. I cannot comprehend how someone in Sydney (or any other location) can recommend a dog in a pound, for argument's sake in Wagga, to a rescue group in Queensland. Surely it is up to the rescue groups to source dogs that fit in with their carers, practices, & their clientel. The rescue organisations should be liaising with rangers & forming relationships with pounds... not getting information & animals third hand. Personally, I am against the shipment of dogs willy nilly across the country where temperament & health status are unknown in expounded dogs. Where do these dogs end up? There are a myriad of rescues now, who knows which ones do the right thing? When I started out in rescue over 26 years ago everything was done at a local level, yes, that's old fashioned but at least there were measures which could be implemented when things went wrong. This probably doesn't belong in this thread, but it's been bugging me for a long time now. Very well said Trifecta. They are people who believe anyone calling themselves a "rescue" must be good. The number of facebook "likes" on some very dodgy ones prove that and the glowing comments by people who don't know anything about the "rescue" they are liking are sickening. It doesn't help the very good and ethical rescues who don't seek the accolades or fanfare, and just quietly get on with the job of rescuing and rehoming well. Not directed at "Happy Camper" - I don't know you at all.

Sleep well, Divani. What a beautiful girl.

Everyone's worst nightmare and why do we have to be scared to simply walk our dogs along a street. It's the law to leash your dog in a public place, for gosh sake. Haven't these people heard of secure fencing and gates and how to shut a gate! I'm over well cared for dogs whose owners do the right thing being attacked by unrestrained dogs. Sending good recovery wishes to you, Maddie and Stan.

They always live on in our hearts. We are all lucky to have had good dogs and remembering them keeps them close.

Before And After Pics

Makes you wonder why she was dumped although I know there are all sorts of reasons, valid or otherwise. Beautiful girl, I wonder what breeds are in the mix?
