  1. I want to see the five year old who could read this thread. In all my years of observing children in classrooms, I would have been astounded if any at five could even read the first post (and why would a five year old want to, for goodness sake.)
  2. I've got two of the Kazoo beds, WM - they're lasting really well.
  3. So hard making that call, DDD - wishing you strength and lots more gentle pats for Danny.
  4. Totally agree with the trampoline beds to get the main bed off the floor. In summer it lets the air circulate underneath and in winter the bed isn't on cold tiles. My 14 and a half year old girl loves her Fuzzyard Eskimo bed - separate cushion with a removable cover and a lovely soft plush bed.
  5. Sleep well, little sweetheart. Thinking of you, WM - you gave Mac your everything, what a lucky dog to have had you in his life.
  6. The NRMA (in NSW) call it as a priority matter and will come straight away - you don't have to be a member. Otherwise, call the Police who will direct you. It's not strictly legal to smash a window so I would cover all bases and get advice from the police first.
  7. Have also been following the thread, WM, and just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you both. Mac will know you are near and will be comfortable in his last days with everything familiar. Hugs to you.
  8. Sending thoughts and hugs on the loss of your boy. I know how much he meant to you and that you would have tried all to get him better. May the happy memories of Thumper, in time, make you smile. Sleep well, beautiful boy, you were loved.
  9. Could his arthritis be causing further pain so he doesn't want to get up as it hurts? Maybe you could discuss further pain relief/arthritis treatment with the vet and see how he progresses with that. My 14 and a half girl doesn't want to go for walks anymore and doesn't attempt to jump on the lounge/bed - she waits until she is picked up and also has her bed on the floor. We have adjusted to a new routine since the young boy came to stay two years ago - he has a daily long walk, the 11/12 year old boy has a good potter around the property and Stella is very content to amble around the backyard and snooze the day away inside or for short periods on the deck. Have a good chat to the vet before you make any decisions. From memory your boy is on the small side and at 12, he could have several good years if nothing is wrong. I also wonder if the AB's could be upsetting his stomach or if the pain is affecting his appetite so he doesn't want to eat much. Hoping you get some answers and that things improve so you can enjoy life with him again.
  10. What a sweetheart - a bit like my Stella. She is like your Stella. How about it? :) Ha Ha! Three is all I can handle at the moment, Sarsaparilla.
  11. "Hug your dogs. Everyday." .......says it all, really.
  12. I've always wanted my face to be the last thing my pet sees, and all have passed with me holding them and talking to them. I manage to hold it together until they go, but afterwards is a whole different thing. I've been going to the same vet for 20 years and she knows that after they have gone and I spend a little time with them, I just need to get home before it all hits me, and can't talk to anyone. With an ailing almost 15 year old, I'm aware I'll be facing the sadness again sooner rather than later. I also don't judge those who can't stay, but the ones who leave an old, sick dog or cat to face a scary pound by themselves leave me cold.
  13. Sleep well, Ishtar. A wonderful long life with a family who loved you.
  14. With you for a short time, but much loved. Rupert was a lucky dog to have come to you, Kirty.
  15. Never enough time. Napoleon has gone where all good dogs go. Sleep well, beautiful boy.
  16. Sleep well, little Petals - a special life indeed.
  17. Just finished it, DDD and it's brilliant. Funny and sad at the same time and beautifully written. Highly recommend it.
  18. It seems there were three dogs there - which one do you put to sleep?
  19. So sorry to hear. I'm sure Gus felt warmth, comfort and love for every one of his 1041 days he was in your care. He would have known how much you loved him.

What a lovely, wise old face - keep her safe in your memories, Kayla1.
  21. Ten years of love and beautiful memories for you to cherish, Ruffles. Sleep well, handsome Loki.
  22. Thinking of you and Mac, Westiemum. It's a hard gig looking after our much loved seniors. I hope the new drugs keep Mac stable.
  23. What a beautiful boy he was Kirty - so sorry that his time has come, he sure proved them wrong for a long time. Sleep well, Champa.
