  1. Bahahahahahaha. I have come home to that very question many times.
  2. Yep, thanks for the heads up. I'll give em a reply.
  3. OK, so you don't like registered breeders as per a previous comment on another thread: 'The “head in the sand” attitude of many breeders continues to amaze me. Outside of Show circle, the term “Registered Breeder” is just an alarm bell to many people. For your average dumb-schmuck member of the public they assumed that buying an expensive “pedigreed” from a breeder represented a quality product, and so unfortunately the horror stories proliferate. Some breeds in WA have been decimated by the poor practices of registered breeders, to the point that cross-breeding is the only way to get a pup that will live more than a few years. It’s no wonder that Mr & Mrs Joe Public are turning to SpaniCavmagnadoodles. And, you are not happy with rescue as per this thread. Perhaps you should either rescue dogs yourself so you can choose who you think their perfect owners are or start breeding. Either that or move to cats.
  4. Ohhh, that is such sad news Newfsie. But thank you so much for giving Tobes a happy ending. I am sure he will love spending his last days going to the lake and on trips. You have such a beautiful canine family and I am sure you will all miss him very much.
  5. Dusty and his new lobster toy............. ETA: Ahhhhhh, I just can't work out how you upload the photos so they aren't a small box. I want them big like the ones above.
  6. WOW!!! I especially love the photo with the reindeer ears. Ohhhhhhh, cute!
  7. He is beautiful and so lucky to have a forever home with your family. Thanks so much for giving him a chance.
  8. Ohhhhh, he is beautiful!! Congratulations. My first dog was a GSD from the RSPCA and she was the best friend and pet I could have ever asked for.
  9. In the meantime, White Shepherd rescue are desperately looking for foste carers
  10. And another for the 550d. I love mine. I just wish it could also do my washing and walk my dogs so I had more time to use it
  11. My yard sounds about the same size as yours. I have a Lab and a Rotty of my own and I foster large breed dogs. My last foster was a Great Dane X and she would only occasionally use the yard. My other two could live in an apartment they are so lazy. Personally, I think it is more about the mental stimulation and good quality walks than the size of the yard. Yeah, but check with the Great Dane people. They were very helpful for my Dane foster. Actually they told me that we could probably cut down the exercise time.
  12. I think I remember from another thread that the difference in the doors is the quality of the magnetic part that holds the flap in place when closed. But I could be wrong. I'm sure they are all much of a muchness. Have a search for other threads. I think there is one called Pig in Mud. As far as sizes go. I bought the Superlarge size Pig in Mud as I have a Rotty and a Lab. But, I also foster dogs and have had several different sized dogs use it with no issues. The only one who couldn't work it out was a Great Dane X. She definately could have got through it if she tried but I think she was just a bit slow My cats use it too with no problems. I am so glad I bit the bullet and bought one. I used to leave my door open for the dogs and in the middle of winter in Canberra it was less than ideal. It has saved me heaps in heating bills and no one ever has to wake me up to go out. DO IT!
  13. Same here! But I am looking to add the 50-1.8 [after playing with kja's fancy lenses over the weekend] Ooohhh, nice. I think my first big addition will be a Canon Speedlite Flash.
  14. Is it a Pig in Mud door or something similar? I have one and it is awesome. Best money I ever spent! It should work with double sliding doors as you could just pop it in the middle and both doors will just close up against it. You get one locking mechanism with them but you could always just buy another one or I use a piece of dowel in the track.
  15. I'm with Trisven, see if you can find another rescuer round your area with a cat and test the dog with them. You should get a good indication from that whether the dog will be able to live with cats. Dogs defiantely react differently to different cats so a lead and muzzle will be a good idea for the intro. I have two cats who I have had no problems introducing to my fosters so far. I have found it is also very important to remain calm and ensure the dogs are exhibiting a low energy before meeting the cat. Same for the cat, if the cat is acting crazy, don't bring in the dog.
  16. Whoa, firstly I think you need to take a deep breath and be calm. If you have command of your own dog you should be able to command respect from this dog. But it wont happen if you already think that because he is "HUGE" and 'rescued' that he might rip your face off. A couple of questions: 1. Have you been out to meet with the dog yet or have you just looked through the window? 2. Has the dog been introduced to your dog? Does it show any signs of dog aggression? 3. What does your housemate say? Apart from you hearing that he may not respect females, what other problems does the dog have? I foster HUGE rescue dogs who have not grown up with me. They have all been the most loving dogs who have got along with all my family, friends, dogs and even cats. Please dont mark this dog just for the reason he is large and a rescue. ETA: Not saying he isnt aggressive and there aren't aggressive dogs out there. I just didn't get enough info from your post to get that.
  17. Nup, the pre-rego spots are all full, I just tried. Oh well.
  18. I just bought that same camera with the lens kit. Really happy with it. I am only learning so started out with auto and am now beginning to start changing settings etc. Have mainly used the 55-250 so far as most of my practice work has been of the dogs and cats.
  19. Great shots. Lotus looks so much like my lab. If you had a Red Bubble site I could buy photos of Lotus and pretend they are mine
  20. Yaaayyyyy, go the Rotty :D My girl Sharon is now nine and a half years old and apart from some arthritis which is currently managed with supplements, she has never had a bad day of health in her life. She is a total lounge lizard and spends most of her time just hanging out on the couch and looking out the window. I will always have a Rotty in my family.
  21. That is SWEET! More.......more...........
  22. Ohhhhhh, awesome photos. And you got them all in one shoot. I've had my cats for 8 years and still don't have any good ones.
  23. Did you have it professionally laid PeiPei? From the threads that I have read that seems to be the difference. The stuff you buy at Bunnings seems to be a different product.
  24. I put artificial turf in about two weeks ago and I love it! It cost me $2000 for 26 square metres but is well worth it in my opinion. My yard was a swamp as well as it gets very little sun. We have had heaps of rain this week in Canberra and it has drained perfectly. They put crushed granite under it so it drains well. I have a Rotty, a Lab and a Great Dane foster and they have all had a great time playing on it. So far, no problems at all. There are a few threads on this. I know one other DOL'ers dogs ate the entire lawn so I suppose it depends how keen your dogs are to dig stuff up. I don't know how they would get the edges up as they are glued and pinned.
