Shooting Of Husky In Dog Park By Off-duty Police Officer
julzjc replied to koalathebear's topic in In The News
What a F-wit! A dog fight at a dog park, want to avoid a fight, then dont go to an offleash dog park! You don't shoot someone elses dog! A swift kick up the backside probably would have stopped it if it came to that. Bloody hell! Not assuming anything but what is to say that his dog was not the aggressor, why would it be kept on a leash at an offleash park if it was perfectly safe with other dogs and well trained? ps Thats a retorical (sp?) question.I know there are alot of possible reasons, Im just thinking out loud. Pleas excuse my grammer, lost for words. -
:D Indie whines when Bonnie takes all the toys one by one out of the basket and jumps up on the 1.5m high bench table. Carfully puts all toys in the middle so Indie can't reach them and watches as he runs around in circles whining constantly for her to drop them down. I swear Bonnie is sitting up there, smirking at him with her "staffy grin".Obviously hasnt relised he can jump, daft boy. Bonnie only whines when she passes houses that have dogs she knows.

My next door neighbour lost their 8yr old dog in January after it had gone into the pool when they were not home. The dog was a great swimmer, unfortunatly it just had forgotten how to get out. They thought the dog had escaped and searched the streets before finally noticing him in the bottom of the pool, poor old boy. Never let our dogs inside the pool fence unless we are there. Above ground pool but I have caught them climbing the pool ladder a couple times. Occaisionly I close them inside the pool fence if we have mean kids(or stupid parents who dont teach them nice animal manners) visiting but we are always outside watching them.

only just viewed the first 2photos so far, feel physically sick, those poor babies. They should lock the owners in tiny cages in their own filth with no food or water for the rest of their lives and see how they like it! Inhumane ba###ds!

I dont allow it as Bonnie would snap and Indie would be terrified(undo alot of trust training) if I let another dog hump them. Neither of my dogs are humpers except when we are doing drive training with Bonnie. I lock Indie away because as soon as Bonnie starts her drive training and has full focus on her job/anything in her mouth Indie will try and hump her. She is so focused or will have her mouth full so Indie knows she cant bite him but the growls she gives him are shocking. Very rarely she will divert her focus to him, in which case he gets severly told off by her, does not appricate him interupting her. He also tries to mount her if she reacts to a strange dog coming near our property,in which case he gets severly told off instantly by her. Telling him "no" will stop him but sometimes Bonnie beats me to it, hence he is now locked away when we train. Never go to the offleash park with Bonnie now as almost every dog used to hump her, she was extremly submissive but since her mood change there is absolutly no way I would let another dog try and hump her. Lest there would be one less dog at the dog park.

They are only allowed up when OH and I tell them(house full of kids so the lounge and bedrooms are strictly off limits to them most of the time). However when they are allowed up,well lets just say you are out of luck if you want to watch tv lol.....

No suggestions on the food sorry as I feed mainly raw sorry. Could the ichy paws/underbelly be a grass allergy before you do an elimination diet? My girl had allergies to grass etc and mosquito bites which resulted in hives all over her body. You can have an allergy test done at the vets and an allergy shot is available but it is best to let a young pup to build up immunity and hopefully outgrow it. Giving allergy shots to young pups(non severe cases) may result in you having to give the allergy shot for the rest of its life. Thankfully my girl has outgrown it now but still has the odd lot of hives if the mosquitos have gone crazy on her.

LOVE IT! Off to raid to "odd socks bag"! Tonnes of odd socks as a certain husky likes stealing them from the washing line. How he manages to reach/aim for them when they are 8ft in the air is anyones guess!

Unpredictable but predictable. Makes sense doesn't it? She is dog reactive but sometimes she will ignore dogs totally, some times with DA dogs lunging at her she just whines to play, sometimes with calm dogs that have not even looked at her she will go absolutly crazy and want to kill them. I can read her and avoid triggers/train through them but she doesnt always act as expected. ie recent example1- Border collie at a distance, perfect manners. I had Bonnie sit so they can pass with a wide birth. She is calm, happy, dog totally ignores her and keeps eye contact with his owner. At 5m away, Bonnie snaps, starts lunging, acting like a feral attack dog. example 2- Walking her with my OH and two of my babies in the double pram. We are rushed on a blind corner by 4 lhasa apso dogs, 3 of the dogs go in for the attack, one bites her twice on her leg. Bonnie's reaction? Whinning and wanting to play with them. You would expect her to be protective and react to an actual bite. Nope she leaves me to chase off/roar at the offending dogs and give their owner a mouthfull. Dogs, go figure!

+1. Hopefully the light smell of the vinegar will put puppy off sniffing and so squating on your deck. Having said that, probably just doesnt want to get cold dew on his feet from the grass lol. My Amstaff girl absolutly hates going on the grass at night, will only go if I stand over her or will hold on untill morning. So you may be in for a LONG cleaning spell untill pup can hold his toileting over night. Dont worry about it. He will get it eventually, untill then just stick with the vinegar water and huge prasies when he does go on the grass. Try putting a lead on him just before you go to bed (as late as possible)and walking him on the grass untill he goes toilet. Perhaps set your alarm for 4am and take him on grass again on his lead untill he goes toilet. Found that was always around the time my pups needed to go toilet so got up and beat them to it before they messed inside. Completly with you on your choices for your pup to sleep outside with young kids. My dogs are indoors but I have high up locks on my kitchen/sitting room doors so my kids can not access the dogs if they wake up before I do in the mornings. Much better having your pup outside if there is any doubt that your kids can get to your pup unsupervised. Sounds like a nice snuggly bed he has there. ps new dog = piccys needed!!!!!!!!

Bonnie does it to clean my grubby sons face, constantly paints his face with his food(hes 2) so she just cant help herself. Knows she is not aloud to touch anyfood my kids have in their hand, drop on floor until the kids say she can have it so decides to get it off his face/ears/hair/eyes etc etc etc. Know my eldest, baby and I dont like our faces licked so wont do it but both dogs attck OH, son no1 & daughter no2 with face kisses,,Ewww. Lol and constantly licks Mother In-laws arms as they know she hates it lol, dont do it to any other visitors, swear they do it on purpose to wind her up. Seriously think its a respect gesture though as they always try to do it after being told off.

Sure do. First two photos are from the first day we got Indie.

Poor Donkey, thats is disgusting!

Indie loves being outside. I make him come into the house though as otherwise he would A. get drenched by the rain (always lies in the rain) and take all day to dry, and B.dig holes if he woke up too early in the morning. Absolutly no way Bonnie would ever want to stay outside at night, loves her comfort. Aussielover- Bonnie would love to sleep in your bed and cuddle up with you all night. We only let her on the bed when we read bedtime stories to the kids, she hates going back to her own bed. Indie only stays on the bed for 5min max before he dissapears to his bed/floorboards/upside down with his tummy against freezer door lol.

Sick!!!! absolutly disgracfull! Why arent we allowed to bind her arms and legs with tight, thin elastic, cover her from head to toe in packing tape and hang her upside down for a few days?!? Days ie she is a hell of alot bigger than a poor deffenless puppy.
-
Well done! In awe of you all, great job pacers!

Oh no poor Hudson. Hope he is feeling better today, poor boy. So lucky your ex knew the signs and got him there quickly. Big hugs Cassie for you and Hudson, your girl must be lost without him. Healing vibes coming your way big guy.

Same here. Bonnie wont even sit on anything that is not soft (ie have to take her bed in my backpack for walks with coffee breaks or she will stand for hours on end). Indie the sibe on the other hand refuses to lie on anything soft. Past few nights when I let them out it has been almost impossible to get him back inside the house to sleep. Has been sleeping out on the concrete or grass in the pouring rain despite having alot of undercover areas, kennel, veranda, big comfy beds in laundry,in the house etc. Cant even leave his collar on as he gets so wet his collar will cause hotspots, PITA sometimes. For my neighbours view into my yard they would probably think his only shelter is under the veranda with just a towel too in the rain but thats his choice, daft dog.
